Through the years I used to watch NBA championships and NFL Super Bowls that's it. The road the teams took to get there, I never really followed those roads I just always tune in for the finale's. That being said, the Kansas City chiefs won their third championship yesterday and I was very proud of them because I know how hard they worked for that. Due to this I wanted to purchase a jersey to commemorate their accomplishment. I looked online to see if there was a Dick's Sporting Goods near me and to my surprise it was one very close. So I came to this location 30 minutes after they opened for the day. I have never shopped at a Dick's Sporting Goods store before, so everything that I seen was new and fresh to my eyes. As I enter the store they had a huge sign stating that there was no discrimination allowed in the store and that everyone is welcome. I know that this sign clearly catered to the LGBTQ community and not necessarily to someone like me. I walked further in and immediately I saw the rows and rows of chief memorabilia and gear laid out for customers to pick and choose to their hearts content what they wanted to parade on their bodies or in their cars. As I went through row after row, I kept seeing the sizes of S, M, L, and XL. There were no plus sizes of any kind. Now of course it would be a Health nuts utopia to actually believe that every fan of the Kansas City chiefs was an extra large sized person or smaller. But if any of you have ever been to a game and looked at those people in those stands the majority of the people up there are from the flabby family to which I am a member. So as I rummaged through all of these shirts, hoodies and jackets and saw nothing that I could wear , I became more angry at the sign that I saw as I entered the store. How can you say that you don't discriminate when you know there are people of plus size that are Chiefs fans and you don't have anything to accommodate them. But I decided that I was shopping for my love of the team, not my love of the store. So as I wandered to the front of the store, I saw a table of chief gear and found a beautiful authentic Chiefs Tumblr and decided to purchase that. When I came to the register the lady actually had the audacity to ask me if I found everything that I wanted. I bluntly said, "no, because you have nothing here that accommodates people of my size. I guess fat people can't be fans" I must admit that she was quick to apologize, quick to assure me that more shipments would be coming in and to call before I come and they would surely try to hold a jersey for me so that I could purchase one. She did make an attempt to correct the situation as best she could and although I thanked her for being nice and I can appreciate the apology, in my mind it wouldn't even be necessary if they had thought of people like me in the first place. Her actions to try to correct it is sort of an afterthought of the company. I can't blame her for doing her job but I can blame the actual company for not making sure that they ordered sizes to accommodate all fans of the Chiefs. And the reason I know that they could've done this is that when I left dicks sporting good, I came home went online to fanatic.com and found a championship jersey in my size and placed my order. Brick and mortar stores need to really stop and think about why they are losing customers at an alarming rate. It's all about the customers and being sure that you have the supply and demand to meet the customers need. When you don't care enough to meet the needs of the customers, the customer will take their need to someone who can, which is what I did. So I guess when it gets down to it if you are thin, petite and athletic , This is the store for you. They will have everything to meet your desires. But if you're a person that carries on just a little extra weight, you might want to take your business somewhere else

Came time to replace the shoes I work out in and I have a very specific brand and quite large size so never surprised if it's not in stock. Hit the jackpot today because I called and they had 5 pairs of exactly what I was looking for. Spoke to "Heather" on the phone, then she helped me once I arrived at the store. She was patience, friendly and thorough, insisting I really should try both on even though this was probably my fourth pair of this brand. We had a chance to chat about all things downtown Lawrence and I enjoyed the time spent with her. The store is well stocked and there's no pretense involved in the purchase, something that seems to come with buying performance athletic shoes. In all, the exact experience I was looking for in a retailer. Very highly recommended!

However, new doesn't mean inexperienced or poor service in this case. Staffed with an exceptional group of dedicated runners, they'll personally take the time to fit you with exactly the right shoe for your running style. I've bought two pairs of shoes there, my wife has bough one pair, and each time they've sat down with us and been completely ok with taking 30-45 minutes to make sure we get the right shoe. I fight shin splints and the staff able to quickly diagnose my gait style and help me select a shoe that proved to remedy my ailment and keep me running. Shoes are expensive, but Garry Gribbles constantly offers clearance deals and specials so you don't have to buy improper shoes out of budget considerations. Also a great place to meet other runners, they offer a pretty solid calendar of races and events around town. OH, and they stock my favorite socks in the world, Injini's, which just makes me all kinds of happy camper. They recently started carrying Vibram's Five Fingers, which perhaps seems like a counter-intuitive move for a running shoe store, but Gribbles is all about making your runs better and seems to have a service first, money second attitude. I can't recommend them highly enough, if you're a runner, walker, or person with legs and feet, you NEED to stop by Garry Gribbles.

The person helping me got very nasty and threatened me not to buy the shoes i was looking for online. Hoping this person was just having a bad day, I sent my daughter to Ad Astra to pick out some shoes for her birthday. She experienced even a worst interaction with staff. As a young women, my daughter left feeling very upset. I have talked to a few other people including the person that recommend Ad Astra to me and this place has turned very ugly. Confession time.... I work in the same building as Rally House and I walk by this store everyday…read more Second confession... I am not a huge college memorabilia person. I do not seek out the latest and greatest in wearables proclaiming my allegiance to my alma mater. I have been in this shop on a number of occasions to shop for friends or for gifts. One thing that impresses me about Rally House is their selection. This is not a big store by any means. Even though it is small in size, it is big on selection and variety. If you needed a t-shirt, hoodie, cap or souvenir... you will be able to find it here. Parking is not idea because you have to park in the nearby parking garage but it is not the worst, either. There are ample spaces available but it's just the basic hassle of having to use the garage. Once you park, Rally House is easy to find in Allen Field House. You are just a few steps away from AFH if you are in Rally House. Very nice and convenient. The staff here is very friendly and helpful. Every interaction I have had with them has been a positive experience. One time I even had to pop in for change and the cashier was very nice and patient with me. Sometimes when I walk by I can hear them laughing and having a good time together. That always makes me smile. I have never had to special order anything from Rally House but I bet they special order for people. It just seems like a service they would provide. There seems to be a variety of sizes and styles to choose from, though. Everything is arranged in a visually pleasing manner and they get the most from visual impact, for sure. Some people might think they are overpriced but, hey, this is a specialty market in a college town in the greatest college basketball venue in the nation.
