What happened to this place? I used to shop here all the time, but not recently. I wanted to get stuff to make Christmas presents so I stopped by. The store was unrecognizable. It was as if a bomb went off. Merchandise sat in the middle of aisles and all over the floor in boxes. Half of all the shelves and walls were bare. Employees all seemed under the influence. It honestly creeped me out. Either everyone's a zombie or they're about to close the store and no one cares anymore. Will never visit again. read more

The options are great, few might be overpriced however if you can visit the store you'll get to see a lot of options. Big store. I needed an outdoor fabric for my balcony seating which I was making. I want it to handle the exposure to a busy street in a city. Ordered online but was told it might take around 3 weeks for curbside pickup as they have lots of order in place. Called them up and since the store opened the lady suggested me to go to the store and get it myself and show the online order at the cashier. Worked perfectly. No line and it was in and out in 5 mins. Although the cashier seemed to having not such a great day but the rest of the people were happy and smiling(I could say they were behind the mask. In the morning of May 23rd, 2023, my friend and I went to Joann Fabrics and Crafts in Burlington MA. It was the worst terrible purchasing experience I have ever had in my whole life. My friend had purchased cloth in this shop many times before. She purchased over 40 pieces cloth in this shop before. This morning she and me picked up some cloth(different colors) in this shop. Previously, every time, the shop assistants helped her to cut the cloth according to the size she wanted. As usual, when we asked help from the shop assistant there to cut the cloth again. The shop assistant rejected us in a very rude attitude. She said she couldn't help us to cut them. We had to cut them ourselves. This is the company policy. If a customer goes to a cloth shop to purchase cloth, different colors and different size for each piece of cloth, it is really difficult or almost impossible for the customer to purchase these cloth. As it needs good knife or ruler and lots of time to do that themselves. We tried to talk to the shop assistant to explain previously the other shop assistants always helped out the cut the cloth according to the size my friend wanted many times before. Why was she not willing to help this time? She didn't want to listen to us at all. Her attitude became severely rude. In a big shock, she and her manager called the police after. They told the police they didn't want to sell the cloth to us. In the future, they didn't welcome us to shop in their shop any more! I felt I was deeply hurt and being discriminated severely. Maybe it was because me and my fiend didn't speak fluent English. Maybe it was both of me and my friend were Asian. Why this time, company policy? What about those many precious times not this company policy. The company policy worked only towards me and my friend this time? I analyzed the deep reasons she rejected us: 1. There were many pieces of cloth we purchased this time. There were lots of cutting work she needed to do. She had not patience at all. 2. Me and my friend we are both Asian and both of us didn't speak fluent English. I have not been calm since this terrible experience happened. read more

For some reason the rotary blades are locked up so when I approached a staff member for assistance she looked annoyed and told me to go to the cutting table and ring the bell for help. I just left. Staff here often seem like they're serving time or something, and as if somehow the customer played a role in putting them there.. I just left empty handed because a staff member (who claimed to be the manager) was speaking disrespectfully to a customer. When the customer (who appeared Asian American) asked why she was speaking like that, the staff member "apologized" by saying "I'm sorry, I only speak English." I mean come on! Taylor a young lady that cut the fabrics and Jason that rang the register were extraordinarily helpful as I am embarking upon a veil project for my nephew's wedding. Not only was Taylor knowledgeable about the fabrics but also how to quickly prevent fraying on a delicate fabric without sophisticated machine stitching nor glue. She helped find appropriate thread (sewing thread not embroidery thread) as well as backing to help my hand stitched project have a clean, pristine look. Taylor patiently helped me figure out ribbon length needs as well as source ribbon from another location because of quantity needs. We googled then used joannfabrics official site to find the exact product. I also found coco pulp liners for a gardening project. Jason at the register nicely separated the garden project materials from the delicate veil project and helped me discover a coupon function on the website! There are very few places to get fabric and craft supplies left, so I am happy to give a shout out to what they do well. They have basically everything you want, if you have to fill a need. That's an enormous task, considering how many things they have to stock for me to say that. Seasonal, Halloween, winter holidays, specific or non-specific, they have a piece with a color or an image that works. That's at least tens of thousands of different materials. At decent prices. As retailers go, it's got to be low-margin, so I cut them a little (just a little) slack for the one employee they have who really struggles to interact with humanity. The rest are super friendly, useful and knowledgeable. I've been sewing most of my life, and I still ask advice. I like the staff, I can always get a word on what I am trying to make if I need it. Good parking, good lighting, wide selection for crafts and grammie's knitting.... I am on the fence between four or five stars. Not a lot of extra fancy stuff except in beads. read more

I emailed them several weeks ago and no response! I had to go through the credit card company to resolve this. I still haven't heard from them and they emailed me to ask me to review the product. Do you like paying Mood prices for WalMart quality and selection? Like surly cashiers and downright nasty cutters? Get a thrill from the smell of artificial flowers in a low-ceiling warehouse of fluorescent pain? This is the place for you! Seriously, if I didn't know better, I'd think JoAnn Fabrics was trying to ensure a world of folks who don't sew. Their prices are ridiculously high, their staff are always unfriendly, and yeah, they've got a wide variety of patterned cotton, but if you want something nice, or hell, even something plain, like black cotton? Forget it, they only have junk. I'm an avid sewer, fond of making my own clothing, but I've dealt with JoAnn's for the last time. This one in particular was the last straw. I've been treated better by high school students while I was lecturing them for breaking a rule. I've seen better selection in a yard sale. This place is a complete rip-off with rude service on top. Do yourself a favor. Go somewhere else for your crafting needs. Maybe then JoAnn's will figure it out and go out of business already. read more

Jo-Ann has a huge assortment of material. I was deeply surprised how many beautiful styles and high quality fabrics they have. I loved the oriental silk pieces, the microfiber rolls, and felt variety. This is where I definitely shop for those hard-to-find colors and textures that I'm looking for. Plus, this is scrapbook central. I have never seen so many aisles dedicated to paper designs and stickers. Although I was a bit disappointed at the lack of home designs options. read more

I went in to Joann's today to supplement the fabric I got at a discount place, and I noticed a few things. -#1: There were not enough staff, and the staff that was there was pretty mixed. The girl cutting fabric was great, but she was off helping a customer elsewhere, so I had to wait at the counter for a while. I suppose it's not he fault, but there should be enough people working so that the ONLY cutter can keep cutting fabric. And in terms of the other staff, they were organizing fabric, as is understandable, but they were crowding me, reaching over me to straighten up the shelves, and in my way (two of them talking) so much that I actually had to work around them, instead of them working around me. Now that is totally not meant to be a snotty thing to say, but it was a little surprising that they weren't a little more sensitive. #2: Their fabric selection is awesome! Beautiful fresh prints. #3: Their selection of other supplies is also great--basically, they rock at selection. #4: Their minimum quantity for fabric is 1/8 of a yard! Awesome! #5: Prices fair, but not great. Overall, worth going to for selection, but may want to shop around on prices first if you have the luxury. read more

I took a private class here yesterday. The instructor was knowledgeable, friendly, insightful, and all around just great. The manager was also helpful in resolving a matter that arose. Overall the prices are good and the sales coupled with coupons make it awesome. I would recommend this location as well as the chain to any newbies or established crafters. It's fine if: You like paying through the nose for some of the most disgusting, outdated poly based fabrics you've ever seen You LOVE spending hours searching for stuff just thrown in there with no rhyme or reason The idea of stepping on pins on the floor thrills you - they were all over the floor, told an employee and ....nothing. Imagine the joy when a small child steps on them. You hate sewing. There is nothing inspriational in there. Seriously, save the trip, go through your old clothes and repurpose them. How they sell anything stuns me. They have a sewing mannequin they retail for $270, you can get the same thing on line for $130 tops. The place is a total rip off, which is sad. There's no reason they can't have a selection of sub $10 fabrics. They sell largely crap, no silks at all. Save your time and gas. read more

I'll admit that I don't have a lot of time on my hands to be basket-weaving, fabric-sewing, croqueting, and scrap-booking. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE ARTS & CRAFTS and DIY projects. Around this time last year, I was desperate for a cute, fun, and unique Halloween costume to wear to my school's dance. I didn't want to be a naughty nurse or a sexy french maid, nor did I want to spend $50-100 for tacky costumes that probably didn't fit me very well. So I had this CRAZY idea to MAKE my own costume. For someone who was not familiar with fabric stores, I was blown away by the shelves of giant fabric rolls in all colors of the rainbow. I was lost in a cache of fleece, flannel, floral prints, stickers, pins, buttons, needles, velcro, and ribbons. I carefully selected a radiant red and the perfect purple fabrics, as well as safety pins. Bf grabbed yellow & black fabrics for his costume - Scorpion from Mortal Kombat ...oops, did I just announce that to the public? Process (as simple as the deli section of the market): 1. Bring desired roll of fabric to the fabric cutting counter 2. A lady cuts it into "purchasable" sizes (i.e. by the yard) and gives you the price label 3. Bring fabric with label for cashier to ring up. I was a little irked when she refused to cut my fabric into smaller rectangles (I wanted her to use her nice pair of scissors!). She'd have to charge me for doing something "extra" ...really... even if I pay for the pieces separately? BAH. Thanks to Jo-Ann (and my brilliant artisan skills), my costume was inexpensive to make and turned out awesome! 8-) I might just have to hit up this store again as I'm still costume-less this year. read more

I have been to better JoAnn's. Overall the store is sloppy. Fabric selection disappointing and messy. The display of fabrics was disorganized and cramped. Their selection of sewing supplies is scattered and the layout it not intuitive. The staff members were nice, but there does not seem to be enough staff to maintain a pleasant shopping environment. I did purchase some quilting tools at a good price, but I wouldn't choose this JoAnn's for fabric. As a side note, the bathroom was dirty from lack of maintenace (I couldn't believe it!). read more

I only shop at this Jo-Ann outlet if I have to. Now and then you'll get a friendly cashier up front, but the people working in the store are unhelpful at best, rude at their worst. The last time I was in there, a cashier who was about 70 asked me if I was a senior citizen so I asked her why she needed to know. She said if I was 65 or older, I could get a senior discount and when I said I was over 15 years away from that, she exclaimed, "REALLY?!?" to which I responded, "REALLY! You REALLY know how to make a customer's day." She tried to excuse it by telling me she's a senior and just assumes everyone else is, but REALLY? I won't go back there again. read more

I have never, ever encountered a worse Jo-Ann Fabrics. Period. I've been a loyal Jo-Ann shopper since I began knitting and crocheting four years ago. I moved across the country and found that this is the only Jo-Ann's in the nearby area. I've been going to this shop in Burlington out of convenience, location, and yes, a little bit of loyalty. But really, where to start... Customer service: Appalling. I make it a point to be friendly with workers due to my generational history in retail. But here, every employe must believe that death would be a sweet release. I've seen so many glassy eyes, scowly faces, and evasive maneuvers - they should just wear shirts that say DON'T TALK TO ME. Typically staff are nowhere to be found, but when I do find someone to answer my question, I never get a satisfactory response. Stock/Selection: Always terrible. The place consistently looks like it's been ransacked and hasn't been thoroughly cleaned for quite some time whenever I go in. They don't seem to take inventory before receiving new shipments because they're out of the same product for WEEKS. When asked about when they'll get it back in, they say, "shipment's Thursday" as if they calculated the minimal number of syllables to utter that it'll take to get you out of their sight. The selection of yarns are never fully stocked and most of the fabrics are downright hideous. I constantly find things in the wrong place. It seems like the person who runs this shop just couldn't care less about the state of things and has already given up trying to improve. Long story short: Avoid this place like the plague if you can. I know I'm officially calling it quits. read more

But today November 3, 2019, oh my .., it was quite a different place: the first thing that struck me was the smell of the store right after entering the store, I smelled something rotten, and when i approached the fleece racks it smelled like a dead rodent. I'm a sewer and a quilter mainly, so this isn't my favorite Jo-Ann's. The emphasis at this Jo-Ann's is definitely on the *crafts* and not so much the fabrics -- the notions and fabric selection here is smaller than at some other locations -- I'm thinking of Westford and Tyngsboro, which both have larger fabric selections. Since this Jo-Ann's is right on Route 128, it's a convenient spot for crafters in the area to pop in over their lunch breaks and get some shopping done. (I do it all the time.) So this is the only time I've ever seen this place with long lines -- especially at the cutting counter. I really discourage you to get any fabrics cut on a weekday lunch hour if you can avoid this crunch time. The reason I don't like this place much is it feels a bit picked-over whenever I'm there -- things are a bit unorganized and messy. Just feels a bit off. This place has tons and tons of home decoration and scrapbooking tools, so if you're into that sort of thing especially, you might really dig this Jo-Ann's. read more

This location is greatly lacking in customer service. I have been able to order craft supplies at other area locations with no problem. Everything has been curbside pick up only with no restrictions. I ordered from the Burlington location due to them having the items I needed in stock. All other Joann locations have had a 1-2 day turn around for order pick up. I reached 2 weeks for my Burlington order! I rely on supplies for my job. I called them today (5/19/20) and the woman said they were still fulfilling orders from 5/2!! With no customers in the actual store how hard is it to walk around fulfilling orders!? I was polite yet the woman got mad at me when I told her other locations have a 24-48 hr turn around for their online curbside orders. I ended my called saying that I would just wait for the order to be filled. She said "Oh it will just get canceled!" Wait what? Sure enough she went in and canceled select items from my order. Not everything just a few random items. Grateful this is not my usual location and that the other two I have ordered from during Covid19 have been so nice and helpful. I understand that Joann's is trying to limit their orders to essential items only but to me my order is essential to carry out my career. I am trying to give my business to a, while big box, local store. I was trying to avoid ordering online, which now would have been easier. Also their hours are 10-5 (not 11-6) read more

Went to Joanne fabrics and wanted to purchase a single sheet of foam for $1.59. I went to the counter and asked the salesperson if she would cut the foam in half . I told her my husband needed it to fit in the handicapped van to protect the tires of his scooter. She then told me she could cut the foam only length wise not the way I needed it to be cut . It was store policy. I told her I would pay first and then would she cut the foam again she said no it was the store policy. By this time my husband was annoyed asked for the store manager. The manager came out we explained to her what we needed she went in back came out and said it was the store policy. I took the foam went to the register paid for it and asked the cashier if she had scissors. She handed me the scissors I cut the foam right there and left the store. Really this was ludicrous. For $1.59 if I didn't like how they cut it I would have just bought another piece . Would not recommend Joann's to anyone poor customer service all for $1.59! read more

Not a great location, I hate going to the Saugus one because Burlington is a lot closer, however I will likely not return to the Burlington one. Not enough staff is certainly an issue there but more of an issue for me is the limited staff that does work there is not great. No urgency to take care of customers and worse one of the cashiers had the most horrendous customer service skills ever. Me and my sister were in line and when it was our turn she just stared us up and down. No how are you today, or can I help you with something else. That was already not great but whatever, the thing that bothers me most is she told us we couldn't use a coupon because our item was a sale item. I thought it sounded strange but wasn't sure, when I left I looked at the coupons and it says clear on it I could use on sale items. She did the same to others in line who just left without arguing the discount. I went back in to talk with the manager who explained that she has received complaints about her prior.... Ok but she's still there ruining business??? The manager was quick to fix the coupon situation (as I was death glared at by the disgruntled employee in question) which I was thankful for but am concerned that this cashier will continue to cause problems and be an issue to customers in the future. read more

Walked in, got the yarn I wanted, half off, checked out and left. Easy peasy. The gentleman checking me out was very friendly. When I review Fabric stores I cannot help but compare them to the old Fabric Place in Framingham. When I go to Joann's I have to hunt through all of the quilting cotton and fleece to find fashion fabrics. Usually, I can find 1 or 2 selections I really like. On the positive side Joann carries all of the major patterns. Also, I have found the staff to be helpful but sometime overwhelmed by the volume of customers. read more

On July 11, 2020 I ordered 2 items online with curbside pickup- both items were listed, "in store." On June 25 I attempted to speak to someone in the store about my order and it just rang three times and once I was hung up on. I decided to wait since on reviews it said it was taking 3 weeks to fill a "curbside order." On July 6 I called again & actually spoke to someone! She pulled up my order and told me that she would expedite the order and could give me one item but the other item was canceled but if I wanted it, I could go into the store and they could cut it from a spool. I said, "Can't you do that for me?" She said, no they cannot substitute items. I said, well, cancel that part of the order and I'll give you my credit card to purchase it from the spool. She said, no, she couldn't do that and I had to go INTO the store! I ended up canceling my whole order! Last time I do anything with JOANNN'S! I went in here today and was in heaven with how much stuff they have. I'm used to going to Michaels, which is good, but definitely much smaller. My endless search for display fabric led me here one Sunday. For a store that size I was surprised that their actual fabric was less than half of the store. They did have some nice fabrics and prints. Prices are okay. Pretty standard. I am used to Sew-phisticated fabrics prices, which are much lower on a lot of items. Jo-Ann's had a great sale section where everything was half off, which was pretty sweet. Service was so so . I got up to the register and the older lady who was ringing up my purchase remarked on my fabric choice as being " downright loud" which I found to be kinda funny but also a little rude. i would go back there again, especially for their sales. read more

What a wonderful and exciting store! They sell all the fabric and crafting goods you could think of, plus many you can't! I was there on a Saturday night, and it was a bustling, hopping place full of the most interesting people. A nice young man cut my cloth once he had a chance, and a hard-working woman who you could just tell as trying her best rang up my purchases. Some people say this place is understaffed or full of unfriendly workers, but I say that a little patience and understanding goes a long way! One man who seemed to be in charge was a little loud and animated with his employees, but bless him he was doing a difficult job. With so much stock of colorful, varied fabrics, I can see how running the place might get overwhelming. It took me a little while to find what I was looking for, but wandering around is just be part of the journey of life! Jo Ann does have a nice selection craft items. What is does not have is service. I was asking advice on a fabric choice from a sales person who informed me at the end of our conversation that he never sewed before. This led me to another sales person who answered my question and then sent me to find something that the store did not carry. That was very frustrating. I did find a suitable replacement. I asked the same sales person another question and she sent me on another search for something they did not have. The store was not busy and this sales person could have helped me but instead was talking to her co-worker. You might be thinking that they had a bad day but I have had other similar experiences at this store. The service is very poor, the sales people are not familiar with their stock, and some of the people aren't interested in the crafts products that they sell. read more

True Joann's is often understaffed but that doesnt make it a bad store. The selection is on a level with all the fabric stores in the area. Oh wait there are no fabric stores in the area. I couldnt help but be surprised at the amount of comments on the staff. I shop on week ends and I know for a fact there is at least one person who works there who is extremely knowledgeable about fabrics, supplies and sewing in general. She is always willing to help and answer questions about how to do a certain project. She always takes an interest in what you are working on and she is always willing to help with your projects if you need her. Her name tag says Louise if you are in a sewing dilemma seek her out and you will be amazed at her knowlege of everything sewable. I don't believe Joann's is even aware of the gem they have in this employee, and I am also sure they wouldn't care if they knew but she makes more sales for them then they will ever know. read more

Wow, I'm glad that I'm not the only reviewer here that thinks the employees at this store are terrible. I am new at sewing and I went to Joann's today to pick up some supplies to make roman shades. I had questions about how many yards I should buy to where certain supplies were located in the store. I ended up talking to about 5 employees there and each one of them was moody and unfriendly in general. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I have ever experienced in any store. One lady literally put her hand to my face and asked me to wait until she was done doing whatever the heck she was doing before I could ask my question. The lady, Anne or Annie, at the cutting counter was one of the most miserable people I have ever encountered. She asked me if I'd like the fabric I had cut rolled up and I said sure, if it's not too difficult for you, and she responds, "No. it's not easy but if you want it that way, fine." Really? If every Joann store is like this, I will never go back and will never recommend someone to shop there. Shop elsewhere - why spend your money at a store that 1) they don't even appreciate your business and 2) where you'll end up being a bad mood just looking at all of the miserable employees there. read more
