This is one of the many Joann's that are closing. The fabrics are discounted between 20% - 50% which I thought would have been less. The patterns are regular price. The sewing machines also have a small % off. You must purchase at least 2 yards of any fabric. I;m a big fan of this Joann's! Mostly because when I went in in early October they actually had aisle and aisles of fall and Halloween stuff, not a Christmas item insight. I appreciated that they actually realize people still want to buy Halloween stuff in October and they had a great collection here. I actually saw quite a few things that were dupes for more expensive things at spots like Pottery Barn. The line was a bit long at checkout and there was only one person working the register. But, the wait was worth it for the selection and great prices. read more

I have shopped at JOANN Fabric for many years. Astounded and disappointed by the lack of kindness of an employee was upsetting, and the "games" played by this business with their coupons was frustrating. I took a great deal of time shopping in the Warwick, RI store to use a couple of coupons. The cashier that I asked when I first entered could not answer any of my questions as to what I could or could not purchase with those coupons in a very abrupt way. I had read the coupons but wanted some verification. Their coupons are very tricky since many items are on sale but do not always have a sign indicating such; trying to use 2 coupons for the 3 items I attempted to purchase was a disaster. At the register, this same employee was confusing with her explanations; I felt she was also inaccurate soI finally gave up and bought only one item. I was polite to her but since she was the only cashier on at that time and a line was forming, she told me in an impatient and unpleasant voice that I had to move on. I have worked in sales as well as in an office of a store and was trained to be informative, kind, and patient. Perhaps more training is due here. read more

I recently ordered quilted fabric. I was charged twice, The order arrived today. The fabric was not as it was described on the web site. So I called customer service. The rude young man, Tom, basically told me that I was the fool for not reading all the small print. Then I said I was charged twice, he then mansplained how that could not have happened and why was I getting upset about $20. I am a senior citizen on a fixed income, so yes $20 is a big deal for me. The final thing he said was that he would refund the first $20 (3 to 5 business days) and if after 7 business days the second charge was still there I should call back. Unfortunatly Joann's has the monopoly on fabric stores in this area, so they obviously don't give a crap. read more

I have gone here for several years when in search of fabric and found their selection to be decent. In recent months the selection is beyond pitiful. No more beautiful faux fur, faux leather or quality textured fabric except for a tiny area in the far back. Just isle after isle of kids printed fleece garbage. Its awful! She likes to make things for Xmas presents and always seems to be desperately needing something she doesn't have. Jo-Ann's usually solves her dilemma. When she does have a sudden need to run out to Jo-Ann's I usually go with her because I usually find something I need or perhaps something I didn't even know I needed. That's the nice part about this store, it's huge and has a lot of different items. I always buy something when I go here and I frequently find something that I forgot I needed. The store tends to be very seasonal, which means right now it has tons of Xmas stuff but that changes with the holidays. The usually inventory of typical crafty items are always there but the displays and specials are always changing which makes poking around interesting. The store is frequently crowded, especially around the holidays and it can be difficult to find the appropriate help, so you might be on your own or have to wait a bit for assistance. However the staff are always pleasant enough when you do eventually located one. Like most stores the actually knowledge and usefulness of the assistance will vary greatly. Some staff seem like experts and others just for decoration. Certainly not the most exotic or personalized craft store. Other places serve that need far better. But when you need something quickly or want ideas for a project or just to poke around a huge inventory, Jo-Ann's usually does the trick. read more

This multi-purpose craft supply store has a wide variety of materials for just about any project...and one of the few places around that offers a great selection of high quality cotton fabrics cut by the yard. I hit this store up to replenish my supplies for my mini-crafters, my three little ones, and for my yarn for crocheting just about weekly. I am thrifty and they accept unlimited coupons in a simple transaction. Lately, the front end has been very understaffed with long checkout lines that move slowly during the day...and floor staff that is scarcely seen. As a result, the staff that remains is very cranky and rude. I hope they staff up so the cashiers can don their cheerful smiles again and I can get my helpful craft tips from the floor fairies. My wife and I went into Joann Fabric today on mission to get fabric for custom interior cushions for our boat. Having researched what we wanted, we drove the 30 miles to Warwick from Newport. The store was busy and there were no employees around to ask anything.. The store is poorly marked as to what goes where. We finally found someone to ask as we wandered around the fabric and were told (very nastily) "it's over there" as she pointed towards the left side of the very large store. We wandered some more and eventually found the first fabric we were looking for. We were concerned there wasn't enough fabric so I decided to check at the cutting station. The line was extremely long so I tried to ask if there was any place on the tag that showed how much remained on the spool and was told I would have get a number and wait my turn to see. I proceeded to get my number #22 and waited . They were serving # 6 at the time. As there was no loud speaker being used to call numbers, I waited in line as my wife set out to find somebody to help her find the accent fabric we needed. My wife decided to go to the front of the store and found two managers to ask. Commenting to the managers that they seemed shorthanded the one manager said "We have exactly the number of employees on that corporate requires". Lovely. The other manager then pointed to the back of the store and said "It's over there" Perfect. On her way past me, my wife was getting really pissed off and I was still waiting while listening to one of the ladies doing the cutting complain how she was late getting off and needed to feed her dogs. I told my wife to find what she needed which she did and returned 20 minutes later. I was still waiting. My number was finally called and I was told there was not enough fabric on the spool and they didn't have anymore. I asked if the fabric could be ordered and was told "probably not. If it's not on our computer, we don't have it." The one lady did offer to see if the fabric was available at another store which she did. It was not; so off we went to find another which ,of course, was more money and surprise, surprise, they didn't have enough of that either. One hour and forty minutes. We left empty handed after coming in ready to spend $550 (Our estimate per internet pricing ) and left with nothing. We immediately drove 1 1/2 miles to Hobby Lobby and found the exact fabric at 2/3 of the price. We save so much that we actually were able to spend the difference on a new sewing machine for my wife. I now know why our upholstery guy gave us a huge discount to buy it ourselves when we told him the fabric we wanted was at Joann Fabric. Smart man. Located in the same plaza as Michaels, Jo-Ann provides a little wonderland of fabric and crafting supplies. Generally I can find a good chunk of their products elsewhere for much cheaper so their fabric selection is usually the main highlight of my visits. Since I make doll clothing, their moderate pricing ends up being very affordable for quarters especially after their mark downs during their very frequent sales. I love how they seasonally rotate designer fabrics so I'm never bored. They also have a huge selection of Simplicity, etc patterns toward the back with tables to comfortably relax while shifting through the books. While their other items can be on the pricier end, when it's essential, I always ensure to have a coupon on hand. (Psst never pay retail here if you can avoid it!) I've never had to wait for service, at least so far and have encountered very friendly staff. My only real gripe is their temperature control. Good gravy would it kill them to turn the AC up? (Disclaimer: No, I am not into sewing, knitting, or making friendship bracelets ... not that there's anything wrong with that, lol. My hobby is building stuff with rocks ... ugg, ugg.) Seriously, though, I came here recently looking for a set of red, white and blue outdoor lights to decorate my porch for the 4th of July. Such an item is surprisingly difficult to find. For whatever reason, Route 2 in Warwick (a/k/a Bald Hill Road or Quaker Lane) hosts a disproportionately high number of arts and crafts chain stores: Hobby Lobby; Michael's; A.C. Moore; and this store. In fact, the same plaza hosts both Michael's and JOANN Fabrics. How four arts and crafts stores can survive in such close proximity is beyond me, but then again, I'm not an economist. This was the fourth place I stopped in my search for patriotic lights, after trying Home Depot, Target and Michael's. They did have a set, and it was even 60 percent off. When I plugged them in at home, however, they were not very bright, so I returned them today. In comparison to Michael's, which is a very small arts and crafts store, JOANN fabrics is a vast store. Just walking in there, I feel like I should have packed a lunch. I mean, the place is HUGE, with high ceilings and bright lights. It feels like I'm walking into a warehouse. Furthermore, there are no overhead signs to guide one where to go (they have a large fabric department, but tons of other stuff as well). I've been here with my wife before, and if you are just browsing, you will spend a very long time in here, if you look at everything they sell. There doesn't seem to be a lot of floor help, either, which is frustrating if, like me, you're a focused shopper, and not a browser. I also dislike the way they arranged the checkout. You have to go through a rat maze of shelves to get to the registers. When I went to return the porch lights today, they were having computer issues at the registers, and it was pandemonium briefly. An older woman ahead of me in line was huffing, because she had hoped to get in and out of there quickly. I finally got up to a register, and the young woman who waited on me had her computer crash as she tried to process my return, so we had to move to a different register. She was apologetic, but I felt worse for her, because she told me it had been happening throughout the day. Since this store is way bigger than Michael's, they're naturally going to have more selection. I can't vouch for their prices, since I'm not a crafts person. I can say that I prefer Hobby Lobby, which, although it is also a large store, feels much more inviting, and has more help on the sales floor. read more

This is another nice store to find crafts and fabrics which are hard to find these days and seasonal items. Their sales in their specials are good and I find the they have people out on the floor to help you more so than at other stores. I go there to get ideas and to find items that I am looking for to complete a project. Sometimes they don't make the item that I need but a staff member will help me to find something to replace it and that will serve the same function. They're always kind and polite and helpful and it is a very nice place to shop. read more

Ordered a Rowenta iron on-line that the Joann website clearly indicated was German made. Picked it up at the Seekonk Massachusetts location and the store manager checked me out. Thought it appropriate to check the tag on the iron to be sure that it tagged made in Germany as the Chinese made Rowenta irons are very much inferior products. Expressed my desire to check manufacturer tag to the store manager after I paid. She let me check it and then proceeded to tell me it was not returnable at the store because I had opened the box. In fact, it was Chinese made and misrepresented by the Joann Fabric web site. She refused to take it back and said that I would have to figure out how to return it on the web site and pay for return shipping..and they misrepresented the product. They have great sales and coupons either via mail or your smart phone. They have a great selection of frames and they also do framing. The floral section is huge and the prices are great. if you do the scrap booking thing, this place has aisles of that stuff. They have classes for painting and for sewing as well. read more

Okay so what I love about this store most, is that it is in the same plaza as Michael's (craft store). Whatever it is that one store does not have, the other will! They have a great variety/selection of fabric, and sewing needs/wants which I have not been able to find elsewhere this close to home. The staff there is usually very helpful as they all seem to be interested in what you're making when you're purchasing fabric, and often have some great ideas they share as well! I've even had employees go out of their way and give me hand written directions on projects. They also carry some nice things for the home; seasonal decorations, picture frames, baskets, organizers, etc. And here is a hint..if you have a smartphone, download the application "Joanne" and you will have virtual coupons at your fingertips! LOVE IT! It saves me so much money, because if you're like me, you forget those darned coupons you clipped on Sunday! read more

This is a decent Jo-Ann's location. They have a large selection. The store is typically organized and clean. You don't have to dig for anything you want. They also have a large clearance fabric section, where I always seem to find something I am, or am not, looking for. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful. It can be a bit difficult to find them wandering the floor. The staff are usually at registers or cutting fabric. But there are occasionally staff walking around to help. As strange as it may sound, the fellow customers are friendly in that only-in-Rhode-Island way, which makes for a pleasant experience. During the summer, their AC is never on high enough. If you plan to spend any time here actually shopping, be prepared to sweat. That is really my biggest problem at this location. The store is simply not heated/cooled appropriate which can be unbearable at times. In addition, like all Jo-Ann stores, things are pricey if not on sale. But you typically can take advantage of sales and coupons in combination, making everything much more reasonable. read more

If you are concerned about social distancing, you should steer clear of Joann fabrics. I was there yesterday and the store has plenty of arrows on the floor and good intentions but there was no crowd control. No way to keep a 6 ft distance. The lady at the counter said they don't have the staff to count people going in and out. I came into the store and the crowd wasn't bad but within a half hour it was packed. Masks were warn by all, fingers crossed we all come away from that experience covid free. read more

I was very disappointed they sold me a used sewing machine. When I bought it I could tell the box was opened and questioned it. They said they open the boxes when they come in to make sure everything is in the box. I get it home and open it - USED. I called the manager (Carol) and I was told they would even exchange it. Went back and funny the new box was not opened. I asked for a percentage off for my time due to their negligence but they wouldn't. I think when they blatantly made a mistake they should do something to make it right. read more

On the company website it says if you place a "buy online, pick up in store" order by 5 pm, most orders will be ready the same day and after 5 pm the next day. Yet if I place an order in the morning before the store opens, it's never ready until the following day. If I place it after 5 pm, it's ready two days later. I am not usually a craft store type of guy but I do enjoy this store. My daughter drags me in with her and I usually find some interesting stuff to look at. In addition to all the fabric and craft stuff they have a very cool selection of unfinished wood products like bird houses, pinewood derby cars, frames, etc... Although this craft store is a decent one considering the limited options available in Rhode Island, the staff could definitely use some fine-tuning. My sister and I had a run-in with a staff member by the name of Susan who was incredibly rude and disrespectful to us. I frequently stop into this location and I, as well as other customers who have witnessed/ experienced her abrasive attitude, have taken notice. She berated my sister and I for leaving a panel of fabric unattended for a moment while we shopped in the next aisle over. I reported it to management, however they were not very receptive. It makes me uncomfortable to shop here due to this reason and it's really too bad because Joann's has a fairly good variety of crafts, fabric, etc and my ventures there are usually pretty successful otherwise. read more

I have been shopping at Joanne's since it opened. Their sale signs and coupons are misleading. I buy simple fabric but it is never covered by a coupon. Although a sign over a rack of material says a % off, the one I choose is not included. I tried to buy a floral wreath and had a coupon for regular and on sale items they said this was a DOORBUSTER item therefore my coupon can't be used. 2 weeks later I returned to see if it was on sale and a large sign over the wreaths said "spring wreaths $28.99". So excited, I went to the checkout to hear AGAIN this item is not included. Then WHY is it hanging right under the sale sign? Not in just one area but two areas! I've been to this Joann's a few times for different things and the staff is usually super helpful and friendly. I recently have become interested in sewing so my bf bought me a sewing machine for Christmas. I had a question about scissors seeing as I am new to fabrics. There was a woman with short dark hair with purple in the front who could not have been more rude if she was trying. I asked about a specific brand which was more expensive and she laughed in my face and said "You're going to buy those to cut fleece?" She proceeded to be extremely condescending and told me to go buy scissors at the dollar store. Otherwise, I think this store deserves more than three stars, but this woman really made an impact on how I feel about asking experienced people questions about diy projects, which is what I assumed they were there for. It is unfortunate that they let people like that work in their store, especially seeing as the majority of the employees have been nothing but helpful and kind. read more

Customer beware.!! This is a pretty good craft store. Good selection of just about everything However they have absolutely the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Two weeks ago I went in with a 60% off coupon. They were out of the upholstery fabric I was looking for. The girl said check back on Thursdays when the shipment comes in. I asked about a rain check she said no it wouldn't be necessary. This morning I went to the store. Explained the situation to the clerk. She cut the required fabric for me. And call the manager for an override. The manager would not honor the 60% off. Without something in writing. She said I should have special order the fabric when it was on sale. It was due to come in either that third it Thursday or this Thursday. Why would I special order the fabric. In the end they're sitting there with cut upholstery fabric and no customer. I will find equivalent upholstery fabric someplace else. Long time before I go back to this Jo-Ann's. read more
