Went in today to use a gift card I received as a Christmas gift only to be told 'we aren't accepting gifts cards'!! Then was ask if I still wanted what I had placed on the counter. I refuse to pay them twice for anything. Nothing but theft!! read more

I like the store but the pay line is always super long and there's usually only one cashier.

I am in the Springfield JoAnn's store fairly frequently for fabric goods, yet often can't find what I'm looking for, so I end up with something not quite right. Looking online, the Peoria, IL store seems always to have items in stock. Springfield store is small and crowded with narrow aisles and tall shelving. Only a few of the employees seem to know much of anything about sewing and crafts, let alone the store's merchandise. And they are not always there. When it comes to my various crafts, I have better luck at Michaels and Hobby Lobby. And what's the deal with giving coupons after purchase only good for few days from date of purchase. Who travels to a yard goods store every few days. We are not buying milk, the bread here. Where's the mission, vision, or happiness of the company here. If you're going to buyout other major yard good companies like Clothworld, you need to make your stores really great. I don't see that here. read more

Good place to shop for crafts or for sewing. Employees who are stocking the shelves with new merchandise for the upcoming holiday (Halloween) or for the (fall) season should either do it after hours or rope off the isle so the customers can't get in their way. One employee in particular was very rude when she almost backed into me as I was trying to pass her. The tone she used was harsh. After I gave her a double look like wow can't believe you just said that; she tried explaining why she was frustrated (that's what she said "she was frustrated with another customer who got in her way as she was trying to stock the shelves").....very bad customer relations!! read more

My main complaint is about the classes. I signed my daughter up for kids crochet. We get there and pay on the day of the class and the guy had us pay for kids knitting. (I didn't know this until three hours later until I picked her up). We go back and she takes the class. Then afterward the lady asks for payment. I give her my receipt and she's like oh he had u pay for the wrong class but that's ok I'll fix it. In the meantime I'm not worried because she seemed happy and they said she did so good they taught her the adult class! Wow I'm thinking. So then I bring my kid home and find out she's learned to knit and has knitting supplies they gave out for the class. So I checked the website and sure enough I signed her up for KIDS CROCHET at the location, time and class that we arrived to. So, why did she learn to adult knit and not crochet? Total waste of $35. They were supposed to make a bean bag but she came home with a square pot holder looking thing. I just wanted her to learn to crochet because she wanted to make a blanket. Apparently with knitting that can't be done so her knitting class was a waste of time and money. I ended up finding a wonderful teacher that is teaching her to crochet for free. Don't waste your time on classes at Joannes. I had seen many complaints on the website from other stores and parents complaining about the classes. I thought my store would be fine but I was wrong.
