This store was great. I found everything I needed. And I got all my stuff and I didn't get a single person to help me and I was fine cause I figured it all out but when it came to go to get my stuff at the cashier, she was insanely rude. I can't believe that she could ever act that way to a customer. It was $60 just for fabric needles thread, and a sweatshirt. I really am disappointed in this behavior and customer service and I would appreciate it if somebody could be kinder next time the value in the store is 0% never come here if you want to be treated with respect. read more

Ok so I know next to nothing about sewing. I can see buttons and make simple repairs. My kid, the artist, wants to sew her own prom dress. Off we go to Joann's. The parking isn't bad if you survive the frontage road to get there. It's not Costco dangerous, but close during busy times. This definitely seems like a place for hard core types, not casual crafters. It's not easy to find things. We did find the supplies with a little help. The person in the back doing the cutting would share information, but only if asked. I don't think she cared much for amateurs. I should have known better, but wow the smell from the various candles or whatever was pretty strong. Not life threatening like bath and body, but made my eyes itch. When we checked out the cashier pointed out a coupon to us which was great. A lot of the time I'm having to watch to make sure the retailers are ringing up properly so it was nice that someone was watching out for me. read more

She listed carefully when we explained out vision for the dress & she also gave her professional opinion on how we can tweak it to fit our style & make it more modest. BEWARE before purchasing any sewing machines from this store. The Tuesday before Christmas, I ran into the store to grab a quick last minute sewing machine for a gift. I was able to find the sewing machine I was looking for and it was not locked up so I grabbed it and paid for it. Later that night, I found out someone had already purchased the same sewing machine so I had my husband return it with receipt the very next day morning. We were charged a $25 restocking fee which is absolutely ludicrous. $25 to take the sewing machine 100ft back to the shelf. I did not know this policy and was not informed until my husband tried to return the machine and was shown the policy on the receipt. I reached out to customer service, had several emails back and forth only to receive the final email stating the $25 restocking fee as policy. I plan to bring my future business anywhere else as I'm still baffled that the $100 sewing machine purchase resulted in a $25 loss for me. read more

I purchased a sewing machine and had to return it 2 days later. I was charged a $25 "restocking fee." It not made clear to me at purchase that this would be charged. Stapled to the receipt was a a return explanation, "You can return... no hassle." I will choose other fabric stores and Amazon for all my future fabric and crafts needs. I feel "restocking" should be included as part of their overhead. read more

Joann is usually my go to place for anything arts and crafts. The coupons are awesome with unheard of discounts that you can sometimes stack on top of each other. They always have such a large variety of fabrics. This store however was quite smaller than other stores I've been to. The normal selections of things like floral, ribbon, vases etc were just limited. I think I'd venture to a different store next time just for more variety. read more

The store always looks dirty, unstocked. I frequent here a lot and on numerous occasions they have actually stopped helping lines of customers because the manager made them take a break. (Then the manager or whoever she is, gets annoyed that she has to help ring/cut fabric) I understand breaking employees, I also work in management at a retail store, however, customers come first. It's pretty much retail 101, customer is in line, you stay til they are taken care of... This staff doesn't understand that(and by staff I would say the managers because the cashiers change monthly). What a mess at Plymouth Rd., sewing patterns are not in numeric order, they must have shuffled the cabinets, some patterns are in cardboard boxes, some of the same brand around a corner in drawers, some sequences are just missing.......Online ordering is the way to go. When I thought I might ask for help found 3 sales people shootin the breeze, after one clerk was explaining to a customer that masks don't really do any good for the corona virus (not sure what his advanced education is in). I left exasperated, this store used to be a great shop just a couple of years ago, sorry to see it go down hill. read more

Do not get curb side pick up at this store. It took 10 days for my order of one notion to be filled. Then I had to wait over 30 minutes for them to bring it out. The lady was rude and threw the sack in my window as she walked by. No courtesy I also find that attitude when I shop in On the other hand my curbside experience at maple grove Joann Fabric was out standing. Ordered with curbside pickup, took a week for it to be ready. Then we get there and they say we have to go into the store anyways. Had to wait in line and when we finally got to the front they said we had to wait for 10 more people. Took forever! Then we got to the register and they were incredibly rude. Placed an order online April 11. One item for pickup, which was 2 yards of fabric. The other 5 items for shipping. I was able to pick up my fabric a week later, only to get home and find 1 yard instead of 2. Double checked and I was charged for two. Sent an email to customer service, no response. Sent another email a week later (2 weeks after order date) and have not received a response to that inquiry either. Items show as shipped on Joann.com, but FedEx has no record. It's now May 8th and I haven't received a response for the 3 email inquiries I've sent. Also, haven't received the rest of the items ordered. When I try to call customer service I get recorded sales pitches for Medicare advantage and roadside assistance plans before I'm disconnected.. What a joke. read more

I happened to be in the area, so I stopped in. Terrible decision. The floors were full of floral stems and petals, fabric scraps, glitter, stickers, products all over the floor, fabric rolls falling over, the employees weren't doing much of anything, and it looked like it hadn't been picked up/cleaned in days. When we went to check out, we asked the cashier how she was doing. She just complained about how tired she was and how badly she wanted to go home...which made the experience even more negative. This store is so small, outdated, and doesn't have very much inventory plus it was a mess with unenthusiastic employees. It made me appreciate how great the Maple Grove store is. The only reason I give 2 Stars is because it is the closest and I need a fabric store. I went in today and the store is basically a fire hazard. It's a small store but why they added more merchandise is beyond me. The floors were dirty, they are understaffed, it's just a junk store any more. I left w/o buying a thing. I was tempted to call the Fire Marshall because of the state the Store was in today. There is a Joann's in Edina (I think) which is awesome but too far. It will be a long time before I go back. Material is stacked to the ceiling. I know for a fact this breaks all codes. It will only get worse with the Christmas season upon us. read more

My family has spent so much time and money at Joann's. I am so disappointed lately with the customer service that this store has been ok with. The store is a mess, they are "short staffed" all the time, and unorganized. There were piles of garbage and dust that was swept into piles all over the store. (This needs to be cleaned up before the store opens). To bad this is the only "craft store" in the area that is a decent price. I really hope things change and I can enjoy shopping at Joann's again. read more

Heads up if you go to Joann's there are only allowing 16 people in the store at a time, so be prepared to wait outside in a line.

Gross store. Was there for 40 minutes and only saw one employee the whole time I was in the store, and that was the cashier. I then waited for 3 minutes for her to finish her conversation with another customer ( Whom was already rung up and paid for her items). I then asked where the restrooms were, BAD decision. I walk in and it stunk of dirty diapers that have clearly been in there for days. The whole bathroom looked like it hadn't been cleaned for weeks. This was the women's restroom and there was pee all the way down the toilet that had been there for days or even weeks. I had to walk our and hold my pee (34 weeks pregnant here). The rest of the store was just filthy. Wish I would have just read the yelp reviews before going to this location. Maple Grove is still #1! read more

Old, dirty, and unfriendly staff, starting with the manager. I have been to this location 3 times now. The past 2 times were meh, this time was down right horrible with the highlight (or in this case the low point) was when I was at the cutting counter asking the manager a question and she started talking on her headset, ignoring me. I bought a skein of yarn . When working with it,, it was tied together. This is a manufacturing problem. Also the yarn got caught far too often making it unusable. When returning it, the manager said it was my fault , that my tension was too tight . She could clearly see it was defective.Instead of apologizing and asking how she could help, she just wrote on the receipt and sent me back up to the register. Horrible customer service from the manager. I wont be going back to this location. read more

I shop here a few times per month, also shop other Joann locations and Hancock and Mill End (which is now going out of business, sad).I am happy with their new reorganized store, since my interests are fabric, and these are now at front of store, I don't have to wade thru aisles of fake floral and seasonal crafts anymore. I am happy with their selection of luxury fabrics like some wools, modal knits, and once in awhile there might be a bolt of silk. A fairly good selection of quilting prints too. Of course, I never pay full price on anything, there are coupons galore in Sunday paper, mailings, and smart phone app. If there's anything that could improve, it would be a larger table & more chairs for the sewing patterns-- used to have 2 smallish tables and at least 6 chairs. Now, there is one small table and maybe 3-4 chairs. It gets a little uncomfortable, and if you have a cart with you its difficult. Maybe they do this on purpose to prevent you from browsing patterns for too long. I wish they would have more 100% wools, and silks. They do have a dozen linens or blends, and a few nice shirtings. But there's a ton of fleece, synthetics, and more synthetics. If I'm investing my free time in a sewing project, I'd rather use 100% wool, silk, or a high percentage of something more traditional than polyester. My only issues with the staff here have been with the cutting table being really swamped, not enough cutters, and they are extremely stingy--one time they cut a linen windowpane plaid ourely where the inch mark was, without regard to the woven plaid or more importantly the Grain Line. When I got it home, and laid it out with the plaid correctly aligned, I didn't have enough fabric for my shirt. If they had cut it straight on the grain I would have had several inches to spare (experienced sewers know what I'm talking about.....). The other issue I have with staff is at the register, you need to watch your receipt like a hawk. Several times they've failed to input a remnant at the 50% price. Now that Mill End is going out of business I'll be at Joann more often. read more
