Some days, I love it and other days, Joanne's is a frustrating experience. On the upside, they generally have a good selection of fabrics, notions and craft supplies. The quality is decent and sales are good. Full priced merchandise is overpriced, but everything seems to go on a rotating sale. On the downside, the wait to have fabric cut is always excessive. I waited about thirty minutes in line to get my fabric cut. You grab a number and just wait. The guy that cut my fabric was super friendly today. I'm not sure why some of the other clerks could not help with the cutting. They had one clerk cutting, one cashiers and about four walking around. The guy that cut my fabric also helped me find specialty things. He was great. The check out clerk is friendly but my order did not ring up right. They did not take the 20 percent off coupon that I had brought. This was frustrating and I did not notice till I got home. This cost me an extra $6. So CHECK YOUR RECEIPT! This is not the first time that my order did not ring up correct. Like all stores, they are adapting to social distancing. Aisles are wide and they have plastic barriers up at check out. It would be helpful if they could put out some hand sanitizer. There is plenty of parking in front of the store. read more

Every time I come to this location on 86th street it's not a good experience. Today they closed at 5 so I drove out of my way when I checked online to make sure they were open. Last time they only had one cashier and a very long line. I felt so bad for her. Maybe they are short staffed? maybe they need to pay their employees better wages? This store is just sad. I sadly will have to start buying online or at Michael's. I keep seeing cars driving up and then realizing that they are closed. read more

I've had very good experiences with the Castleton location, but the cashier I dealt with at this location this evening was the absolute rudest cashier I have ever dealt with. She literally went out of her way to be unhelpful. I ordered a curbside pickup order on Friday and when I hadn't gotten a confirmation that it was ready for pickup by Monday, I stopped by the store to see if it was ready. I noticed a bag with my name on it sitting behind the counter, so I asked the cashier if my order was ready since it had been several days since the order was placed and I hadn't gotten a pickup notice. She gruffly handed me my bag, which was missing the fabric I had ordered for the project (the bulk of the purchase). The only thing it contained was a $.25 piece of elastic. When I asked about the fabric I ordered, she told me the item was out of stock. I had already been charged for the fabric, so I asked her to be refunded for that item. She told me they had updated the order and emailed me, which they definitely hadn't, and I would be getting a refund later. I needed this item to sew my son's career day outfit, so I asked her to point me towards where the fabric I ordered was so I could get something similar. She begrudgingly showed me where it was (with an attitude, of course). There, plain as day, exactly where it belonged, was the same item I had ordered (which she just told me was out of stock). Instead of apologizing for her mistake and offering to fix the problem, she tried to tell me it wasn't what I ordered (it was). She then insisted on checking the SKU, which confirmed the order had been botched, but she still offered no apology for the clear mistake. When I asked her to please cut the piece I had already ordered and paid for so I could get going and get my family's dinner ready, she said with a nasty attitude that she "wasn't going to just give me" the fabric... The exact item I had already paid for (and had already shown her a receipt for). My five year old was growing antsy and needed to eat dinner, so rather than argue with a woman clearly incapable of reason over a yard of discounted fabric, I sucked it up and bought the item again. When I got home, I looked the order up on the Joann website only to see that she coded the original order as fully fulfilled... so I can't get the first order refunded. I ended up having to buy this item twice. It's not a lot of money, but it's still not ok for her to charge me for something I clearly never got. I definitely won't be shopping here again. read more

Joann's is my "Escape From My Thoughts," place to visit. I love to check out their sparkly fabrics. It puts me into a glittery mood. I'm a creator, Joann Fabrics allows me to turn my creative thoughts into my reality. Today I was looking for a sequin backdrop. Unfortunately the fabrics they offered, wasn't wide enough for my vision. So, I then decided to visit the Jewlery aisle. After spending a few minutes looking at their amazing beads. I thought of an idea I wanted to create. I'm so excited to try it out. This is why I love visiting Joann fabrics. Their store always keeps my creative juices flowing. Jo-Ann Fabrics is one if businesses that has thrived in this Covid challenged period. If not only for the fabrics and notions to supply all the mask makers; then for people who have discovered or rediscovered their crafting passions. I've lived in Carmel for 20 years now and never stepped in to a Jo-Ann's in Indiana prior to Covid. I've now been to the Washington Street store once, and multiple times to both the Castleton and 86th locations (many times both in the same day to fulfill online/curbside pickup orders). My best experience was at the Washington street store with both fulfillment of my online / curbside order and courteousness of the employee fulfilling the order. My experiences have not been the best in the other two locations and my online experiences have been overall very poor. I still have an issue that needs to be resolved where I purchased 4 yards, was charged for 4 yards and only sent 1. I tried to resolve earlier but they shut down the customer service line and I'm still not sure it's up and running. Also if price is not a concern; it is easy to shop the ever changing pricing. If your funds are more limited; navigating the sales, coupons, price matching, etc is challenging. I shopped 2 days ago thinking they would honor competitors coupons as advertised only to find out from the cashier a percentage off total purchase is excluded. I paid full price since my multiple fabrics had been cut and then received coupons in the mail a day later. I guess the lesson for me is; only shop with a coupon in hand or for sales posted on line or in the flyers. read more

Most cases the staff is helpful, But the other day I went into the ;location on 86th street Indianapolis IN, ask the lady for 100% polyester fabric. She looked me right the eye and said we don't have 100% polyester fabric. She never made a effort to look or ask a co worker I have seen her working there several time so she was not new. So I walked 3 feet after asking her twice are you sure she said "I am sure", and there it was 100% polyester. She walked away and went to talk to a man about his dog. read more

So I called this location and not only sis they set one aside for me but they also honored the coupon I had used for my online order. Well, all you bakers, quilters and crafty folks, JoAnn's wonder isn't news to you. Thought I'd check out this location while I was in the area. I'm now wishing I hadn't since I found so many great deals and baking items I've wanted. This is a large store, well organized with knowledgeable and crafty staff. JoAnn's' carries everything from baking supplies to wedding supplies. Holiday décor for summer and 4th of July is fully stocked. Inkadinkafo stamping gear, acrylic clear stamping locks, David Tutera card making kits were stocked for you stampers. I found they are currently carrying a large selection of beachy blue and white cottage decor at 40% off. The Store is full of 40-50% off items. Martha Stewart crafts and products are all on sale. I was impressed with the size of fabric available in the store for quilters and others. They still have a decent selection of bridal items, a few children's veil still here, AND adorable selection of pretzel molds for sports, baby shower, children parties and cookie candy molds. Baking supplies are in abundance since baby and bridal showers, wedding and graduations are upon up. Stop in and browse...many items will appeal to you. read more

The first few times I went in here, I honestly figured I would find a store without many items or customers since we live in the Amazon world, but I was thankfully mistaken! This JOANN is surprisingly hopping every time I'm here. They seem to always have some good yarn sales going on, which I love! I recently took up crocheting, so I have been on the lookout for good deals on yarn. Definitely stop here if you need some crafting supplies. Found what I needed. Store was clean and well-stocked. Long line at register that went slow due to only one cashier. However, she was friendly, efficient, and apologetic. Cashier stated they are often short-staffed during mid-day (I went at 4pm on a weekend sale day). She said they have plenty of employees in the evening, so that's probably a better time to go if you're in a rush. We don't have many other options these days, do we? It's got a decent selection, and always got coupons and deals. Last visit was slightly obnoxious as the sales girl was getting a customer to sign up for text alerts and the lady was s-l-o-w, so I had to wait an extra few minutes as the one cashier explained and re-explained how it worked. Put a poster up and refer them over, for Pete's sake. I'm at least grateful there are still shops where you can buy stuff for sewing. The cutting table lady was quite nice and helpful. read more

Every time I go in the store, none of the employees are helpful or friendly. I was in there recently to pick up an online order, and the rude lady handed me the order with two different colors of twists ties. I told her it was not what I ordered and I wanted them to be the same color. She basically said I was out of luck. Also, the check out is beyond slow! Every time I go in there. Getting lost in a store for a few hours without realizing how much time has passed is not uncommon for me. Grocery stores, malls, and then there is joAnn fabrics. This store is Not just about fabric as most will assume. Every isle is full of wonderful knick-nacks, crafts, seasonal decor you name it. Have a theme for a certain room in the house? They've got it. Holiday items are usually found at the front of the store. Sometimes they have really good sales and discounts which is great in my book. Have some time to kill in the castleton area? I received a $5 off a purchase of over $5 today in my email. It was good only for today. I printed off the coupon and stopped at this store. I didn't receive the help I required for what I had planned to purchase so I picked up two zippers and a package of beads. When I presented my "preferred customer coupon" at the check out desk, the very rude clerk turned it over several times and acted as if she had caught a criminal. - she made a phone call to an unknown individual and said "I have a VERY UNUSUAL coupon up here." She then stated oh it is? ok She hung up the phone and rang up my order. As I was handing her the money to pay for $1.09, I thought nope she doesn't get so much as a penny of my money after trying to humiliate me in front of other customers who were waiting in line. I will never step foot in this store again. And I don't believe I will ever shop at any Joann Fabric Store again. I left the "preferred customer" coupon at the store. If you have signed up for emails from Joann- don't try to use coupons they send you in this store. read more
