I not only found a yoga class (with a free beer) but a community of really nice people. Her class is something I look forward to every week. Wild Heaven even asked her to collab on a beer called Innerceizen Hefeweizen. Her classes are for all levels of yoga practice and she often suggests optional poses for those who want to take their practice to a different level. She is always upbeat and has a very infectious smile. Her list of clients is impressive which includes Atlanta United, Delta airlines and her monthly class on top of Hotel Clermont is a must-attend event. I highly recommend Innercise Yoga!

I took the Warm deep stretch yoga class with Sarah Carlson and it was exactly what i needed for a beginner start Sarah was amazing at relaxing the room, but also describing what positions to do and what our body should feel in a very zen way. Sometimes in the past i felt like i was overwhelmed when trying to listen to the directions of where to put my hands hips feet etc but i was able to truly close my eyes and melt into the forms of the yin flow yoga. Also i really appreciate sarah's cultural respect to the indian roots. I came out of the class feeling like i got a 1 hour massage and hug all in one and just signed up for the other sessions i could with my pass. Might buy a mini pass but want to try the other classes too!

But personal training is also expensive, and I didn't want to spend a lot of money finding someone that I could work with and who could work with me. I got lucky and found Jen Raby through Groupon (as of this writing the discount is still active). Jen has a great looking website which is also informative. At first glance, I thought, "She's going to be a little general," because she's very tiny - a true petite. But she's not - AT ALL. She's very patient with my whining and encourages me to keep me going through the final seconds of a plank or a final few reps of leg work. I'm the opposite of "no pain, no gain" and she's working with that. I meet Jen in a private gym on Piedmont which I also appreciate. That limits the amount of gawkers as well as my opportunities to be distracted. As for the routines, I love the structure of them. I learn the exercise that Jen wants me to do and then I do it 2-3 more times, in a rotation of three exercises. The three exercises work the different parts of my body - upper, core, and lower. While working one part of my body, the other parts get a rest or are lightly engaged. After my first workout, I could barely walk the next day - which shows how out of shape I am. But after workout number 2, I felt fine. My body is already adjusting. As a person, Jen is inspiring. Not because of her weight loss story, but because of the choices she's made regarding her health, her family and her work life. It's inspiring for me to see outside-of-the-norm choices as well as be a part of supporting them. I've only had two workouts with Jen, but I'm going with my gut on this one. She's as good as it gets.
