We came here after I searched online for yoga classes near us, and amazingly, Yoga Samadhi offered a free class to first time visitors. Score! The class was for beginners and was ran by our Yoga instructor Doug. Very knowledgeable guy who was great at helping both experienced and brand new (ahem, me) yoga enthusiasts get the best out of their experience. The room is upstairs, clean with wooden floors and although your own yoga mat and towels are recommended, they provide both to you for your first visit. Classes go for about 90 minutes, you'll sweat, and if there's a stretch you can't do, the instructor comes over to either fix you posture, or offer assistance in the form of extra blocks, etc. Located off of Waddell St, Yoga Samadhi has a private gravel lot that can get full, but we found parking. Getting in and out of this place was no problem, and being close to Atlanta, it's a must try if you have even the slightest interest in Yoga. Oh shit. After one hour at Yoga Samadhi, I think I've become one of *those* people. You know, a person who enjoys yoga. I might have to move to Virginia Highland now with my mat bag and tight pants. ::shudder:: But in all reality, this place rocks. I was a total yoga virgin and they welcomed me with open arms. The fact that your first class is free is just a cherry on top of the whole stretching and planking and namaste-ing experience. I've only been in the upstairs studio, which is clean, bright, and surprisingly cool given the hellish temperatures outside. They have plenty of blankets and bolsters to help you out if you need it, as well. My class was with Doug and he was great: didn't move too fast but wasn't painfully slow, always providing advice for how to make a move easier or more difficult. He was also always sure to give repeat instructions on when to inhale vs exhale: the thing I found most difficult. Plus, he complimented me at the end of the class, and yes, flattery will get you everywhere with me. I'm planning on purchasing a package dealio in the future and looking forward to repeat visits to Yoga Samadhi. I'm so happy to have it nearby, and so thankful to Katie W for convincing me to come along. My core muscles are much the better for it! read more

A co-worker introduced me to Yoga Samadhi more than 10 years ago and I have a sentimental feeling about the studio and Doug Eifred, who managed it with a peaceful and warm disposition. I've used other studios and they don't hold the same calm, no-ego energy. I always felt welcome and enjoyed the flow embedded in most classes. I will miss Yoga Samadhi now that Doug has retired. After an extensive search for the perfect yoga studio in Atlanta, I finally discovered Yoga Samadhi, which was exactly what I was looking for. What I was seeking was a studio that encouraged drop-ins and did not make you sign up for an entire series or course; a studio with knowledgable, experienced and well-trained instructors; an affordable place to practice yoga; a pleasant setting; and, a studio that was not solely focused on Bikram, Ashtanga or Hot Yoga styles. Yoga Samadhi fulfilled all my wishes. It is the least expensive yoga option I found ($12 per class or $10 per class when you purchase a 10-class card); the instructors are nice, down-to-earth, dedicated and experienced, and they can definitely tailor a class to its participants; the studio is a beautiful and bright space; they only offer drop-in classes; and, they teach a Vinyasa style of hatha yoga, which is not hot and not just an aerobic workout. Don't get me wrong - the classes are challenging and you will work up a sweat, but the really active parts are complimented by balance and standing poses which are held longer, and there are lots of opportunities for trying poses which require you to slow down a bit, too. And, as a bonus, your first class is free! read more

This is the by far the best yoga studio in Atlanta. They offer a variety of classes throughout the week a several different times. In addition to the regular scheduled classes, Yoga Samadhi also does different workshops including Lotus Cleanse, Partner Yoga/Thai Massage, Kirtan and many more. The teachers are welcoming, know their stuff and assist newcomers and beginners. Every class is slightly different and is tailored to the participants. I love the studios. The main studio is relaxing and spacious, though can get pretty warm inside so dress accordingly. The additional studio is a bit smaller but still a comfy room. I love the variety of options for classes. You can either drop in, sign up for 5 or 10 classes, or get an unlimited class card. The studio also provides yoga mats, blankets, pillows, straps and blocks, though I'm always grossed out about using public mats. One of my favorite parts is that there is always a carafe of delicious tea and mugs available for the class. Yoga Samadhi is a great place to keep up with your yoga practice. Namaste. read more

Spiritual, (but not preachy) comfortable, supportive, lovely studio. Funky folk art in the parking lot and lovely patio view while walking up the stairs. Lovely, spacious studio with tin ceilings. I was pleasantly surprised to discover this lovely studio only a few blocks from my apartment in Inman park. The Saturday morning class was crowded, but the crowd was friendly. And I enjoyed a Thursday morning class in which I was only one of three students. The instructor, Amy, tailored the class to our individual needs and skill levels, which I really appreciated. Nice studio. We had a sub. Super knowledgeable but she was very much in touch with the throat chakra and we felt overwhelmed with information that was good but just felt it was too much input. It was hard to get into it. The class went on for two hours. It was a Saturday but we read that all classes were an hour and a half. People usually have schedules so it was a bit inconvenient and i could never be rude enough to remind a yoga teacher to stay on schedule. We could tell the teacher was well trained and she was very dedicated to her craft. Great technical advice given in the class for beginners. Accommodating instructor. I've been practicing at this beautiful studio for 6 years. The space is open, warm and inviting, with large windows all around to enjoy natural views or to let a nice, comfortable breeze enter while you practice. Your first class is free and classes very affordable as compared with newer studios. The instructors are very intuitive to the needs of each individual, yet can easily transition the rhythm and flow of the practice to suit the class as a whole. Whether it's the sound of Doug's voice and guitar during Savasana, Lisa's incredible ability to get your juices flowing with the best music on Saturday morning, or winding down the weekend with Marta's wonderfully restorative Yin class on Sunday, Yoga Samadhi is a neighborhood treasure. read more

so yum. the first class is free, so nothing to lose. the space: i call it industrial zen. tin ceilings and duct work, and peaceful colors and art. they have complimentary tea and tons of props if you need them. i took alan's all levels class. it didnt seem like i was working hard, but i was very sore the next day. he was a great teacher. very knowledgeable and caring. there is plenty of parking. i am only in atlanta for a bit. but i will go back to this studio before my return home. if youre a yoga lover, you need to check out this spot. read more

when i'm in town i go to Susan's yin/vinyasa class on sunday mornings. i love it! its slow but intense and only $12 to drop in or you can pay $100 for 10 classes. but your first class is always free! read more

This place is wonderful. This was my first time to the studio. The place is very clean and well kept. The ambiance was peaceful. Lisa is a great, friendly, beautiful person who helped lead a nice, meditative, flow 1/2 level class. I mentioned I had a bruise and that I was semi new to yoga and she made sure to adapt the practice for me. It was a small class which was delightful, not a packed out tiny room. Rather an uplifting, sunlight filled room. If all of the instructors are similar- this is a fantastic studio. read more
