Every "body" is welcome here. You don't have to be an expert or be super flexible. Each person does what they can do, and we all still get the full benefits of this awesomely therapeutic practice. The teachers are SUPER nice and knowledgeable!! The temperature is ideal- SO therapeutic. It helps us stretch our muscles and also to purify our bodies. This is a delightful place to practice Bikram. So, I was a little nervous because I wasn't sure how much of a fool I was going to make of myself-- but I really wanted to switch up my workout routine. I went to Gina's Anusara class for beginners. The space is small, and a little weirdly organized. They only accept cash or check, so good thing I had a checkbook. You deposit your money in this bowl, and if you need change, you make it based on the cash in there (honor system). I really liked the vibe of the place. Very relaxing and very soothing. Gina was very nonjudgmental and helped me at my sad attempt at a half hand stand (why do yoga people LOVE these??) but she was SO patient with my sometimes dense behavior. The poses were very suitable for a beginner, and even before the day was out I was feeling sore in my arms (awesome!). I really liked this class, and given that there were like 5 students total, it was great to get some individual attention. I will definitely be back, and I might sign up for a package and save a little money.

But if need be, there's also a parking lot in the back. The staff has always been welcoming, warm, and Calm. The classes are always started with an intention and you touch on that at the end. I do like the temperature of the room as it's warm without being stifling. Would come again!

But after a few classes at Highland Yoga, I have a feeling I may have found my new home. I've visited both the Buckhead and Brookhaven locations. Both are beautiful, but Brookhaven is definitely my favorite since it's so close to my house. It may not seem like a huge difference, but on those days when motivation is a little low, having a studio just minutes away makes it so much easier to stay consistent. I also want to give a special shout-out to Kindall. She has such a beautiful spirit and was incredibly welcoming. When you're trying a new studio, the people you encounter really shape your first impression, and she made me feel comfortable from the very beginning. Another thing I appreciate is the size of the studio. The waiting area is spacious, and the practice room itself never feels overcrowded. After a hot yoga class, we're all a little sweaty and tired, so having enough space makes a huge difference. I've been to studios that felt a bit cramped, and it can become overstimulating pretty quickly. Highland does a great job of creating an environment that feels open, calm, and comfortable. And I have to mention the parking--because convenient parking deserves its own paragraph! There's a free parking garage directly across from the studio that's less than a five-minute walk away. If you're unfamiliar with the area, that's such a nice bonus. On those mornings when you're running a little behind, the last thing you want to worry about is circling for parking before class. Thankfully, that's not something you have to think about here. I'm officially five classes in, and I can already say I think Highland Yoga has earned a new member. I'm looking forward to continuing my practice here.

I was driving around for so long that I was 4 minutes late and the doors were locked with a big sign. I could have quietly crept in and joined the class, but no. I know I usually do yoga when I'm stressed out, need relief, want to relax and challenge my body to connect with the earth and become more grounded in the here and now. It's a lot to deal with I'm sure for the teachers, and this is true for any yoga studio. Yoga Hive is extra amazing at empathy and empowerment. They challenge you, and you definitely will get in serious yoga shape, but in a compassionate, non-judgmental way. The yoga instructors are really good here, and I mean, REALLY good. The sessions are filled with beginners to advanced dancers who are beyond gorgeous with their postures, and everyone is celebrated. The instructors are top notch-- they support the super beginner to the professional dancer. It's a very diverse and vibrant community, which I just love so much.

The week was very hectic for me and being able to end the week grounding and centering myself was a perfect was to step into my weekend. I have been attending bi-weekly classes with Yonder Yoga for nearly a year with about two years…read moreexperience of Hot Yoga classes in total. Before taking my first yoga class, I was not aware of the many tangible benefits of practicing yoga. First, I felt the dopamine boost from the sweating and the movement. Then I started to feel more flexible and even stronger in my core, arms and legs. Once I got more confident in class after getting used to hearing the names of the many asanas and no longer had to look around to see what to do, I felt the mind and body connection much stronger. Yoga became my me time and also helped me get in even better shape. Now, I can truly see how connecting to your breath not only relaxes your body but it also provides you with energy and peace. The studio is well organized and always clean. Parking is free and easily accessible. Even when things are busy at high volume class times, the check in process is always smooth and efficient. The vibe of the studio feels bright, modern, peaceful and positive. However, some serious sweating goes down in class! Even when I fall out of a pose or accidentally turn the opposite way of the class, I always feel like I can easily get back into the flow. All of the instructors that I have had (30+ different teachers), give clear and concise cues and helpful tips about certain asanas. There is a sense of community among all the challenges and business of living in the city. I highly recommend to anyone interested in yoga or someone who would like a new hobby to try out several different classes and see what works for them.

This was my first time trying Pilates and what a workout it was! I have sore muscles in places I didn't even know I had muscles! I really enjoyed the movements and the pace of the class. Dana was an amazing instructor! She is kind, patient, demos movements and is constantly moving around to keep an eye on everyone, correct form and encourage them. I really appreciated this being a total newbie! At the beginning of class she gave a quick overview of the reformer so you knew how to make adjustments and how to properly utilize cables. She also would give modifications for certain exercises incase someone needed them. Like most things in Atlanta parking can be a bit tricky ... but they send a welcome email to give you a heads up. Just show up a little early to ensure you find a spot and are on time to class. There is a paid lot or the neighborhood around there has some street parking, you might just have to walk a couple blocks.
