I needed my granite countertop reduced and the 3 other guys I called would not touch and didn't even want to come and look at it. One made an appointment to see and never came. No one wanted to touch it I think because they were concerned about the outcome being bad and breakage or splintering of the stone.
John was very thoughtful when we discussed by phone and I sent him pics. He said, "Let me take a look and see if I can help you, and if I can, I will." He had to think about what to do and how to do it. He spent about 10 minutes just looking and examining the countertop to come up with a solution where he felt nothing would be damaged and I would get the space I needed.
John came up with a very creative solution! He cut the granite at an angle to reach the wall where it was originally cut. The front end of the 25 inch wide countertop was trimmed a bit over 5 inches and he slanted the piece he trimmed off into a very long triangle. He said this is the only way he could do and not damage the backsplash or original work to contain the integrity and beauty of the entire piece. His price was decent considering that he had to be very careful doing his work. John was fast, efficient and creative in doing his work and he gave me what I needed - a bit more room for the chairs around my big beautiful wooden pedestal table. A pleasure to work with and someone that you can work with to find a solution to the job you need done. He also did a good job cleaning up and there was no trash left around.
Unfortunately carpenter's dust is impossible to avoid in this type of work so it took a long time to clean up afterwards and he apologized for the dust saying he had cleaned the best he could.
JMC is also fully insured so no worries. He came well recommended too from the place I purchased all my bathroom tiles.
Well - Yippee! The job is done and I'm happy.
