I'm a fan I'm a fan that's where I stand I'm a fan!…read more I love these Hotels that offer their visitors a nice little evening drink and food reception. This is one of them. Each adult person in the room is allowed two drinks at the bar from 5:30 pm till 7 pm. Off to the right side of the bar there is a small chips, vegetable set up with ranch dressing. It's not supposed to be a meal so stop expecting more! Who starts off their review highlighting about alcohol huh? Well after a hard days work it's one of the most eye enlightening things you can't help but be tempted into. The lobby as well is very nice in which there seems to be different " quadrants" where you can hold your discussions where you won't be in the middle of a large group. Down one side there is a hallway where their conference rooms are and even upstairs are other rooms too I did not look but noticed them just by looking up at the stairs. The room was comfortable, clean and had all of the decent amenities that you would expect for paying around $130 ish. There is a restaurant attached to the Hotel (Hoolihans). I can't tell you about anything in there except that SOME evenings they have a live singer or band. Everybody in the staff was nice and cordial especially the bartender lady, she knows how to rake in the tips as well as make the drinks. My only gripe? GETTING TO THE HOTEL! Eww, yucky, poo ppp construction makes you wait many cycles behind the light up ahead if you're trying to get off of the feeder and past the light. It is even a challenge to get to the Hotel because the usual entrance is being built, but it will be nice once it's done. As of now, it's like a nagging toothache trying to get out of the parking lot even with puppy dog eyes wanting to get through. Oh, before I forget, off to the side when you enter close to the mouth of the Hotel, go to the right and you will find a few spaces of covered parking. At this time in July, 2025, it's still and always be hot as Funk.

Prior to coming, I hadn't been to Denton in about 20 years other than passing through. A lot has changed and this once quiet, small town is booming. I didn't know this town had hotels that are as nice as this. It's located right off 35. It's fairly new and has plenty of complimentary parking but no valet. We arrived in the evening and checking in was a breeze. Customer service was excellent. They seemed to be hosting a few different large groups and had welcome bags for each group. The grounds itself is beautiful and well maintained. There's an indoor and outdoor pool. The lobby is beautiful with lots of seating areas. There's a nice fireplace as well as a large water feature. There are banquet rooms as well for events. The lobby also is where breakfast takes place with a large buffet area with plenty of seating for any group size. There is also a Starbucks, a bar and the restaurant Houlihans. What I love about Embassy Suites is their breakfast. It's not your typical continental or hot breakfast. You can get cooked to order omelets and waffles here. They also have a buffet line with different breakfast items every morning. I like that they change up the menu every morning. They also have options like bread, fruit, cereal juices and coffee. It's definitely a quality breakfast. Since it's fairly new, this hotel is very modern and high tech. You can have a regular key or use a digital key for your room. The rooms are suites and have living rooms, a kitchenette, a bedroom and very spacious bathroom. We had to get used to the touch light switches. I can see the older generation having issues with that. The bed was comfortable and we slept like babies. My only complaint with the rooms was what I felt was the lack of controlling the area. I like it cold in my room but never felt it got the temp I programmed. It almost feels like the temps were all the same in all rooms. The water pressure in the shower was also pretty light. We really enjoyed the Bluetooth mirror in the bathroom which made bath time a party! Overall, I would without a doubt stay here again if in the Denton area. Embassy Suites has become one of my favorite chains and they for sure lived up to their standards at this location!

Since I'm a disabled veteran, Susan offered a 50% discount to rent the facility (I did not ask for this, I was actually happy to pay the $300). I was so relieved I almost cried. I signed the contract and gave her a check for the deposit that day. A few weeks ago my bride's maids asked if they could view the building to give me ideas on how to decorate. I kept calling Susan but couldn't lock a date in. When I did reach her, she said that she did not have her calendar with her and would call me back as soon as she could (never did receive a call in return). On Saturday July 19th I reached her again. She said August 3rd would probably work but she'd have to check her calendar and she wasn't home. Yesterday July 23rd I still had not received a call back and called her again. I did finally reach her but again she didn't have her calendar with. Then she had this to say: "Oh.... My.... I've been dreading this call for a while. You know, I've been doing this for 9 years and never have done this before but we accidently double booked on the day of your wedding. The Friday before, the Sunday after or the Saturday the following week are available. Which one works for you?" I was stunned. My wedding is November 1st, so it's only 3 months away. I was trying to explain to her all the moving parts I have going on and that I couldn't just pick a date. People have purchased plane tickets and I didn't know their travel days. I was explaining that to her when she suddenly started screaming at me. She called me unreasonable and uncompromising but I don't believe ever apologized for the mistake nor even offered to compensate me for this major error. She claims the other couple scheduled before me and that it's an all-day affair and that they are paying "x" while I'm only paying "x." I don't genuinely know when they contracted. I know her calendar was blank when she wrote me in on April 22nd though. I can't tell you how many times I asked Susan to calm down and when she finally did I was able to tell her that I couldn't just change the date and needed to make some phone calls first. One of the rude expressions she said was "You work at XXXXX! I'll just give you your deposit back and you can figure it out with them! You signed the contract so I have the right to do that." So not only was she completely rude and disrespectful to a disabled veteran, but she didn't even have the courtesy to tell me of the error immediately when she found it. The phone numbers on their website http://dentonwomansclub.org/ all go to Susan so it took me several hours to find their current president and her information. She did call me back. At first things sounded promising. She spoke with Susan and her attitude changed. As of right now, the Woman's Club is offering me zero compensation for the trouble this has caused, they have not stated to me what they plan on doing about Susan's behavior and incompetence, and they have not stated whether or not they will honor the 50% discount Susan extended (come to find out she did not have the authority to do that). I also spoke with the former president and she did not have pleasant things to say about Susan. According to her, the only reason Susan is still doing this is because her mother is on the board. I was going to report the Denton Woman's Club to the Better Business Bureau but unfortunately the BBB does not handle non-profit organizations. Moral of the story: Don't use the Denton Woman's Club facility. With only three months out from my wedding I have to either reschedule or shell out a ton more money that we had not budgeted for to rent a new facility. If Susan is still running the books, don't bother. The savings isn't worth the hassle I'm going through now.

And the only reason I didn't use them was another venue unexpectedly donated their venue to us at no charge... (Good to have connections!) Hard to beat a free venue... Kim was professional, personable, flexible, and extremely helpful in trying to meet my every need. We're a 501(c)3 and every dollar counts in our effort to fund local scholarships, and Kim took that guidance to the bank. She matched what I needed for per-meal price (beyond what any other venue could do), the price for the venue was VERY reasonable, and she was very timely in getting back to me after working out our deal with her manager. I called a lot of venues and talked to a lot of people. I'd looked into almost 30 venues for this event. Most venues are not flexible and didn't seem to care if they can't accommodate you. That's too expensive for you? Aw, sorry, good luck! *click* Others never even called me back. Not the case with Kim and Buffalo Valley. She really went the extra mile to make it work. It was a breath of fresh air working with her. I truly can't say enough good things about my experience. I highly recommend Buffalo Valley for your event. They made my short list for suitable venues for sure. Great customer service goes a long way. Thanks, Kim. --Elliott
