Absolutely unsatisfied with JLC. They would mow, edge and leave. They would only treat for weeds or trim Bushes when I asked, even though I verified many times that they were supposed to be doing that consistently. JLC was hired by our landlord, and every week, they come and run the leaf blowers and trim the plants, but the leaves stay on the lawn, mulching and killing it. They were here today and my lawn is still covered in leaves and fallen excelsior. The backyard has piles of leaves against the back fence and a giant pile of yard debris, including cigarette butts from one of the workers. If this is "maintenance", I'd rather call a 15 year old to come and do it instead. I used to have ferns and grass and a beautiful yard. Since JLC, I now have dead grass, tons of leaves, and a hazardous yard that I can't use. I wish my landlord would fire them. They suck. read more

We used JLC to completely redesign our lawn. We specifically asked for plants and flowers that stay short. We spent over 12k with this company and only 6 months later the lawn looks terrible! It's not symmetrical, the flowers he recommended are 3 feet tall now. We have one of the ugliest lawns in the community. The agreement included a few points that he never delivered, like pouring concrete under the tiles in front of the door, and a follow up meeting to explain maintenance. Just go with another company, they are overpriced and the quality of the work is very low, and from our experience, they don't know plants well enough to recommend what you need. read more

We have used JLC twice (2 different properties) for some sod touch up. First house was St Augustine, second house is Zoysia. Both times the job was done very well and the crew does a great job closing the seams in the sod. The first job was three years ago and when we sold that house last year the area JLC installed (1600 sqft) was very lush and healthy. The most recent work was this week and JLC also replenished our beds with mulch. The crew was friendly and cleaned up completely when finished. Jason (the owner) did a complete walk around with me for the quote and did a follow up contact when the crew was done. The other review on Yelp is very different from my experience. While I didn't deal with a maintenance crew, Jason is engaging and seemingly very proactive in ensuring that his company does good work. I recommend the other reviewer reattempt resolution with JLC as I find this company to be of the highest quality in customer service. Please do not be over persuaded by one poor review as I believe there are always two sides to a story. JLC is good in my book, and if you are reading this you are likely considering them. read more

Way too expensive and does not do 10% of what owner says he will do. NOTHING done in writing. Will not give invoices or quotes for weekly services. After increase from $80 to $175 per month, Problems from JLC Outdoors with my Property: (1) Dwarf Crapes (Red) not trimmed in 2 years (2) Small palms and trees not trimmed (Cockroaches and ants into house) also blocking security flood lights (3) Remove debris (leaves, small tree branches, etc.) (4) I need monthly invoice to show me when and what you did. Not just deduct from my credit card. Jason shows up 1 time and he is done. Talk to others after words. I am done with JLC. read more

We contacted JLC Outdoors to repair our sprinkler system. They were able to schedule the appointment fairly quickly (within a few days), the technician arrived on time (actually a little early) and did an awesome job. He was hard at work right away and was able to solve the problem quickly. He even went above and beyond checking on the remaining parts of the system to make sure it was working properly. Plus, the total cost came in below the estimate! So, all in all, I was very pleased with JLC. read more

This company is exceptional at billing and taking money, I have no doubt they are THE place you should go if you have several thousand dollars you'd like a company to take from you. However, if you want your yard taken care of, or hire them to do any other work like I did for my irrigation system, you may want to find a company which spends more time fulfilling their quotes/contracts and less time learning with expert precision how to send bills to their customers. I hired them to take care of my lawn and to repair/replace my irrigation system. I had responsive attention from them for the first couple of months, until I paid them. Then they began to not show up on days they were scheduled to and got substantially less work done each day than they promised. They apparently don't know that an irrigation system controller needs a backup battery to hold the program, lest a power outage resets the unit and the pump thinks there are 8 stations (the factory default) instead of 5 (the number of stations the lawn had), and the pump runs dry, overheating, ruining the pump, heating the outflow pipe so much that it bursts and floods the area of the pump. This happened on two consecutive Saturdays. I desperately tried to reach the company and on Monday I got the explanation that "we don't work weekends". Weekends to this company apparently include Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and most likely all days, since Wednesday of the second week I hired someone else to fix the damage. They did show up on the first week to fix the pipe but didn't even bother looking for an underlying problem. Most likely because melting pipes and pumps are not all that unusual for systems this company installs. At that point there were still several areas not finished installing, as well as sprinkler heads installed in front of the front fence gate (which of course promptly broke when I tried to get into the yard after running the trash out one morning) and under the site where benches for a firepit were being installed (which I had to hire someone else to move). I had them fired from both maintenance and installation. Their internal communication is apparently as exemplary as their customer communication, though, because several weeks later a crew of theirs showed up to try to trim hedges (curiously, not to mow the lawn). And, of course, a few weeks later a LARGE bill for incomplete irrigation installation with no apology or allowance for the destroyed equipment AND an item for a new controller (which they didn't install, they used the pre-existing one), as well as charges for hundreds of feet of pipe that are, as of this writing, still sitting unused in my yard. Which I expect I'm supposed to cheerfully pay for and then baring some sudden artistic inspiration to make a modern sculpture of some sort, find a way to dispose of. After I had my construction manager complain about the fraudulent items on the bill they sent a new one with the explanation "we forgot to add X, Y, and Z to your original bill. The new bill was near the exact amount as the old and included parts that broke and needed to be replaced after the afore mentioned burnout of the system happened twice. Basically, whatever estimate they give you for work is going to be THE amount of money they are going to demand from you whether they install 100% of their promise or 1% or if they end up costing you more money through hiring other trades to fix their disasters. If these events were unusual or if the company cared at all about them I would expect the owner of the company at my place in person to go over all the unfinished items, credit my account for the work I had to hire out, and immediately assure me that it would never happen again. Since they have ignored me for the last two months except to ask for thousands of dollars for horrible work, I assume this is pretty much standard operating procedure and that making amends for problems would have to happen so often that the company would go bankrupt. Again, just wonderful service for taking money for what they don't do. If you actually work for your money and don't want it burned away, find another company. I have to add that I was holding off on posting this review because JLC used the death of their founder to ask for understanding and patience while they dealt with that. I did hold off to see what would come of the situation and after my own grandfather's death this company had no problem at all bypassing my construction manager (who actually hired them for the irrigation project), and waking me up early in the morning after spending a day helping my family make arrangements for that, to attempt to collect money with the "revised" invoice. read more

AVOID this company. We used JLC for several years and saw their level of service steadily decline. Over the past three years we have seen employees mutilate plants which we had asked JLC never to touch, and employees fail to pick up debris in our yard, but simply move it aside to gain entrance to our back yard. JLC also failed to trim several large bushes, which they had agreed to trim when we first hired them. Ultimately we had to pay another service several hundred dollars to clean up the overgrown bushes. Additionally, we were cursed at on at least three occasions by JLC employees. We overheard one employee tell another "Don't pick up that piece of trash. If they're too lazy to do it we're not going to." The owner, Jason, seemed unconcerned and his manager, Clay Pratt, was belligerent and argumentative. Hire JLC only if you're trying to win an award for "Worst yard in the neighborhood." read more
