I do not recommend JK's Ruff House's. I stopped by a month before my dogs grooming appointment and was quoted 120 to 130 after showing photos and videos then upon her appointment after she was there for two hours, all they had done was bathed & dried her. I was told she had been put into a kennel for 30 minutes while they finished the previous dog and then they told me they refused to de-matte her because they don't de- matting at their establishment. It had only been one month since her previous Groom with Mobile Pet Shine. They do a great job. They're just very expensive so I was trying to save money. read more

After a bad incident with JK's ruff house I called and asked to speak to a manager/owner and explained that I wanted to understand a situation that ensued regarding my husky. They never called me back so I will just warn you about my experience. We used them 1x before and they wanted to shave her then too and we told them not to do any shaving except sanitary areas. They were extremely rude on drop off but polite upon pick up so we decided to them a second chance since they're a small business. TERRIBLE!! They tried to SHAVE MY HUSKY! My boyfriend handled the drop off and said the groomer was extremely rude and made comments about "oh wow she's in terrible shape"....I've attached a picture of her the day before her grooming appt below. After they took her back, we got a call where the groomer said my husky was crying too much to finish the shave and couldn't help her. THANK GOD SHE SPOKE UP!!! I am appalled at the negligence. Unless ordered by a vet for medical reasoning you should NEVER shave a husky!!! She is also blowing her coat, the tufts of fur come out with a gentle tug of your fingers. Which proves they didn't even try to brush her. This establishment needs to acquire some education and compassion. I would trust none of these people with my dog ever. We have always had great experiences with this groomer. My one dog has been a bit iffy with other dogs and they have made sure to keep her from other dogs. They allow dogs to walk around while there which isnt great for all dogs, but they can make accommodations. I love Julianna, she has always been incredibly sweet to my dogs. Rude staff, unprofessional and lazy. They asked to shave our mini doodle because he had a few small Matts in his coat. When we told them not to shave him they asked us to come pick him up and declined our business. We were able to comb out the matts ourselves at home with relatively little effort and no discomfort to our pet. Considering they charge around $100 for a grooming on mini doodle under 25 pounds... I expect much better service. I'll be taking my business somewhere else and I'd highly recommend finding a more professional groomer for anyone considering this place. read more

Used to really like them, but was switched to a new groomer (Holly) after the groomer I liked left, their prices raised, and the new groomer is pretty defensive/aggressive. I always book for the same time, and didn't notice my time had changed (because it never has) and Holly was pretty defensive and aggressive when I explained that I knew I made a mistake in confirming a time I couldn't make, but that since I book by saying "same time in four months" it was a surprise when the time changed. Holly tried to go back and forth with me (even looking up my old booking times to try and confirm I'm wrong, but dropping it when I was right), and really harped on how I'd made a mistake, which is very true, but so did JK Ruff House in booking me for a new time without telling me they were booking me for a new time. We're all human, we both made mistakes--but why pick at someone instead of just apologizing for your part in the mistake and working to find a solution? Holly hadn't even booked my changed appointment, so I'm not sure why she felt like she needed to defend anything at all. There's no need to get into fights with a business, I can just be grateful for their past work and now go to someone a little more understanding and flexible. read more

Messaged the business on YELP and received a response almost immediately! They got me in that week! For my two new shih tzu puppies. They are 3.5 months old and I was nervous to take them anywhere! Let's just say, when I picked them up, they were scratching at the gate to go back in and be with the groomers! It was snowing and I was u sure about the appointment and if they would be open- I received a text from Kerry first thing in the morning and we pushed the appointment up an hour. I was SO pleased with this place. They were knowledgeable and genuine, and made me feel so comfortable. They even gave me exercises to do so I can get the puppies used to getting their faces clipped. We've been going to this place for a while now. Every time we go they never do what we ask. Simple things like don't cut my dogs eyelashes or leave her head fluffy. Despite this, we continued to go since they were simple things we could get over. The last time we went they accidentally cut a mole on my dog and it started bleeding. They had her for hours longer than they should have and wouldn't tell us why until we picked her up. Again, we were pretty understanding it was an accident and went back. Yesterday they ended up cutting her TOUNGE and had to take her to the emergency vet! Both times we were charged the full amount and just given a simple apology. I've been taking my pup to Sam at JK for several years now. He loves going there to see Sam. She does a fantastic job, he always looks great. She is great with the dogs and the environment is very calm and organized, which the dogs prefer. If you need a A+ groomer, give Sam a ring. We love Jk's Ruff House, and we love Kerry Martin! The shop is clean and bright. The people are always so friendly. Our mixed breed, super scared of all humans, rescue dog, Porter, gets to socialize with other pups while he is there instead of spending time in a cage. Porter is a basset hound + shih tzu + corgi + cocker, so he is a tricky guy to groom. Kerry always gets it right, and Porter smells, looks, and feels fantastic after his appointment. He did an unethical haircut to my rescued Great Pyrenees One I feel he should lose his license for. $250. For what? He said he had to use a "surgical blade" to cut it with? Who does that. He should also know that Pyrenees can't be shaved like this due to their coat. I have been taking my West Highland Terrier, Betty White to JK's Ruff House for grooming for some time now. Betty only sees Kerry for her grooming, and while I'm sure everyone else there is great, I wouldn't dream of having anyone else bathe and groom her. I couldn't be happier with the time, attention and love that she receives when she is with Kerry. Betty is always a little timid and scared when we enter the shop, but Kerry immediately seems to make her feel at ease, which in turn, lowers my anxiety in leaving her there as well. Kerry has made it clear that he loves my dog and his excitement upon seeing her always reaffirms for me that I've finally found the perfect groomer for my pup. I have tried several other groomers in the past and there was always just something missing. Whether the cut wasn't right, the groomer wasn't friendly, or Betty was returned to me in what seemed to be a terrified state. Kerry has solved all of these problems and I appreciate him so much. I have never had an issue with scheduling and have always been able to get her in right away, even if I forget to schedule in advance. Epically, memorably rude, terrible service. I took my golden in for the second time for a bath and pointed out that last time he came back with lots of mats. I don't like my golden trimmed so I scheduled for a bath as my 40+ years of golden ownership told me that brushing them was part of the gig. "No", I was told by this incredibly snotty 20 something IN FRONT OF THE OWNER, "we only brush them out if you do a full groom." Fine, do that. "That requires a completely different kind of appointment and you will have to reschedule." Uh, no. Instead of explaining the difference, which I was more than happy to pay for, and taking the dog and fitting him, they chose to toss me off. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. My dog has always had issues with groomers. He had a bad experience at a groomer when he was young, plus he is a mini schnauzer and he is very old. This makes for him acting very snippy and angry at the groomer. Julianne worked so patiently with my dog and was very kind to him. She let me stay with him the entire time to make sure he was comfortable. He came home clean, looking good, and happy (or at least as happy as he can be after being groomed!). We made the mistake of returning to JK's Ruff House on 44th & Tennyson to groom our dog after they previously ignored our grooming style directions. This time they have ruined something beautiful that will never grow back. Our dog used to have a gorgeous tail, with the multiple colors from her puppyhood as she grew up. Despite our very explicit requests -- repeatedly -- that they not touch her tail, they cut off all of the different colors. I would normally say it's just hair so no big deal, but this is not something that will grow back as she is now older and her hair color has totally changed. I realize this is just dog grooming, and she's not dead or maimed, but something really beautiful is permanently gone. read more

This is a fabulous groomer, and Kerry Martin is the best in the business, as far as I'm concerned. Our dog is a Great Pyrenees/Collie mix, with long fur and a thick undercoat. It takes a skilled groomer to do a good job with her. Kerry has never disappointed us, and he trims her perfectly every time. Our dog is also somewhat skittish or nervous about the whole grooming experience, but Kerry handles her without a problem. I'm so grateful for his good work that I drive all the way from the Parker/Aurora line to have him groom our dog. Best place anywhere. You can't go wrong with JK's Ruff House! read more
