Great salon! The rating I'm giving is for David. He gave me a haircut that looked as though my ends went through a shredder! I called and received no customer at all! David told me he would need to charge me for an additional cut! As I was a client for several years I was quite disappointed! Today I learned that he cancelled my future appointments! Been coming here off and on for years. Other than the very first time (with Kelly) I have never had an overly positive experience, there is always "something" off. With Jesse, its that he's just rude. With others its always fine-which is why they get a 2- I have already said I've come back (mostly because its convenient with online scheduling and location for me personally). Most recently I got a great haircut, which was awesome! But again had some negatives too like- the person checking me out up charged me $2 dollars and instead of re-doing it (she admitted her mistake immediately) pushed me to sign off on the added charges. Mind you she had just gotten off the phone explaining to someone about why their bill was $3 higher than they expected (she told them they had increased their prices...so seems like maybe she skims often?). My even bigger annoyance was that the hair dresser took my photos without permission, and then when I asked her to delete them she said "oh ok I won't post them" but who knows since she didn't delete them in front of me. She did do a great job. But like I said something (small) is consistently just not quite right at this place. read more

I am crazy about Jacinda. As a person, she is sweet, friendly, does not gossip, and genuinely listens to you. As a hair stylist, she is consistent and highly skilled. She wants you to be happy and you will be. I really can only speak of Jacinda. I've read other reviews elsewhere that talk about Loretta and the only complaints I've heard pertain to certain hair dressers being a little gossipy or pushing hair products (where doesn't that happen?). Hello All, If you are from out of state visiting, and care about customer service do NOT go here..even if your desperate for an appointment. I made an appointment same day for 6:30 in the evening. I showed up at 6:28pm. No one was at the front counter but the place is small so all of the employees could see me. They were small talking amongst themselves, looked right at me, and did not greet me. After a few minutes of waiting around, I left. They had the NERVE to call me after saying I missed my appointment. Foolish for being one of the VERY few hair salons in Dover. This would never happen in New England, and New Englanders are actually known for not being friendly. Unreal! Side note, it was a bleach job, cut, and Olaplex treatment, so we are not talking pennies here. They lost out on a job simply for being rude. read more

Loretta is exceptionally talented and a warm, funny and kind person. I got a blowout one day and then went back for a Brazilian blow out, which I have been doing for 7+ and she is the BEST!! Not a fancy high end salon but you get great results. I've been going to Loretta for my cut and color for a while now and she is great. I recently went to her for my Brazilian blowout and it was the best decision I've ever made. She takes her time and doesn't rush, making sure every strand is perfectly straight. She does get booked, so last minute appointments with her are difficult to get. read more

So much so that I took pics and posted on fb!!!!....lol this place looks deceiving on the outside. It's really a hip salon with cool hairdressers! I just got my second cut at Tangles. The first cut was done fairly well, but with me continually watching and directing. This second cut I brought a picture to help me get the exact look I was looking for. The stylist barely looked at the picture before starting to cut. By the end, I looked like a drunk Marine with the sides high and tight and the top sticking out and all over the place. I'm a senior with naturally curly, silver hair. I've always worn my hair very short, but feminine. This cut is terrible! It cost $47 and a tip. I've had better haircuts from stylists still in training. If you like your cuts with something current ,edgy and complimentary, I have two words of advice ... STAY AWAY!!! Now I have to find a REAL, skilled stylist and see if they can do something to correct the damage that was done today. Mo money, mo money!!!!! read more

A little disappointed on my first visit. Hannah who is behind the desk and also washed my hair could hardly even greet me. Then she walked me back into a big area, but no one else was there (first clue) then proceeded to wash my hair but not manage to say more then three words. So I gave up on the whole getting to know you thing. Then I was brought to Jesse's chair- and the floor was covered in someone else's hair. ( second clue) now and waited for maybe 5 mins, remember no one else was there and finally some guy shows up. No introduction. No hi I am Jesse. Remember it's my first time. So we chat about my hair for a few minutes and he really pulled my hair, apologized(good) and then did manage to cut my hair fairly well. Except for the fact when I got Home I had to fix several missed spots. I have straight hair very thin shoulder length and really not hard at all to cut. All for $45. So I am not impressed. A little more cleanliness and some personality would have made all the difference- oh yeah and double check your work ! read more

Lori (SP?) is my hair queen! I came in wanting an ombre and she is the first stylist that actually came through with it. Not only that, she nailed it. She has a vast knowledge of hair color and she is a master stylist. She gave me waves that lasted in my hair for days and the tips she gave me for the upkeep in color and style of my hair were priceless. My review is mostly based on my hairstylist Loretta W. I have never gone to anyone else but her, accept when I absolutely had to. She is beyond great. She turned down a job to work professionally in NYC because she didn't want to have to move to another state. She is worth every penny and then more. I have never had a bad haircut from her and only one time did I not like my hair color, and she scolded me when she found out that I didn't like it, she told me that she would've fixed it that day! It's not because she did a bad haircoloring job, it was just because I wasn't used to having it the color that it was. She is so wonderful and sweet! She might take an extra amount of time or might be running late, once in a while, but that is only because she is a perfectionist and will not let you leave until she feels like it's her best and you are happy with her work, only those of us that have been going to her for years, know her true expertise. She is no joke. She is not your standard hair stylist. She is an artist. She is the best of the best. She has more hair experience in her one finger than 90% of hair professionals out there and I guarantee that you will not be disappointed. I've been going to her for 15+ yrs now and I've had to go to others because I lost contact with her a few times and never did I find anyone even close to her ability no matter how much I paid. She was born with her talents, she wasn't made. Oh, and JK Tangles is a nice and clean salon. It's run professionally and they treat you like a person no matter who you are. They are not snobby or have a "holier than thou" establishment. Okay, beautiful place. The hair stylists are somewhat trained.. the salon is very accommodating. I went in to correct some color I goofed up on my own and, although I would've liked to have kept the honey color I was going for as opposed to walking out with burgundy brown hair, the hair stylists got my hair one color without any error. What bugged me was that I warned the receptionist that my hair is extremely thick and coarse and she assured me that it was fine. Well, after the color was washed out, it was not fine. The blow dryer was waved over my head on cool for about five minutes (coarse hair should be combed piece by piece under a heated blow dryer) so of course my roots were soaking wet despite my dry ends. As a result, I could hear my hair frying in the flat iron on account of the dampness and the moisturizer it lacked (the heat protectant was a start but oils are a must when applying heat to coarse hair). Additionally, I felt put on the spot when the receptionist asked me about leaving a tip right in front of the hair stylist. I most definitely overpaid. The charge for the so-called blow-out should have been tip enough. I walked out of there with the perimeter of my head heat damaged and flat ironed to a crinkle and the middle in childish, wet, thick pigtails. Found this place on here. Was very nervous about going because I have had horrible experiences at salons. I have always wanted that blonde hair and no salon ever gave me what I wanted. Walked in to this salon front desk staff was nice and accommodating. Was brought back by Jesse. He was nice asked allot about what I wanted showed him a picture. I left very happy !! Walled in with at least three different very dark red/black colors in my hair due to years of coloring, wanted to go much lighter so the gray wasn't as noticeable, Jesse did an amazing job, took his time, walked me through everything he was going to do and I walked out of there a blonde, with red and light brown low lights. ..looking amazing! And the cost for him working on my hair for a big chunk of the day, was less then I would've spent at other salons for Just a color and low lights! read more

Darla gets two stars because she was friendly and super nice but I asked for some subtle highlights that wouldn't have a lot of difference when roots grew in and she made me super blonde all over. Is a pretty color but not at all what I asked for. I'm in the military and need something natural looking, this is gonna take work to maintain or I'll have to completely dye over it. I asked for long layers that framed my face and I have two layers that are almost the same length. Then while she was washing my hair she started arguing with a co worker about her schedule being double booked. That's when her attitude shifted and she seemed to be rushing me out the door bc she had another client waiting. Only reason I didn't ask her to correct the cut is because I needed to pump, mom probs. read more

I met with Kelly the 1st time just to discuss the color formula I had from my previous stylist who had passed suddenly. Kelly listened to me and made me feel comfortable. I've gone to JK Tangles twice. Both times the stylists were over 30 min behind and I had to wait about 30-45 min to be seen. When going to my third appointment, the hostess with glasses and curly hair lacked customer service. She responded with one word answers (such as do y'all have a bathroom I could use....I had to prompt her with every question with a follow up) and more often than not just stared at me when I said something to her. There was some confusion on my appointment, which isn't an issue. It wasn't emergent that I had to get my hair done. When Jesse came to talk to me about it, it was similar. He would just stare at me when I would ask a question or say something, and then when I was looking for the confirmation stood uncomfortably close, just staring as I searched my phone. It wasn't like this the other times I went to this salon, but I'll be sure to not go again. For those where customer service is a dealbreaker, pass on JK Tangles; the price isn't worth the experience. read more

So first off, my first experience was awesome! So i took my sis there aftr the new yr to get her hair cut and colored there. Sadly, it did not live up to expectations or evn come close. The color was okay and the hair cut was horrible!! The hairdresser (i dnt remember her name) didnt know what she was doing at all. I evn had pictures of the haircut my sis wanted. It wasnt hard at all. Just somthng that resembled a line bob. Well anyway, during the whole haircut we had to repeatedly tell her, to cut shorter and that the way she was cutting my sis hair did not resemble the photos we had. Well, needless to say, we left with a unwanted hair cut but then decided that we were not going to keep the haircut, seeing as how we paid for it. So we went back and another hairdresser finished what the other hairdresser could not do. Well aftr that incident i decide (silly me) to give it one more try with another hairdresser and sadly it was a epic failure!!! I went in for color and the hairdresser could not provide the colors i wantd. She tried several times and could not. And through this whole process othr hairdressers are tryng to tell my stlyest wat to do and shes doing everything there saying. And when my hair wasnt turning out like it was suppose to shes saying "i shoulda went with my gut instinct and did what i thought would of worked". But no matter what she did or what others said, she could not deliver. Felt like i got stuck with ANOTHER hairdresser that didnt know what she was doing. I was there for hours and through out this time i heard two hair dressers comment that thy dont and wouldnt let the other hairdressers in there salon do there hair. Made it sound like it was a bad thing! I knew i was definitely in the wrong place as soon as i heard that!! Well needless to say i left without the color i wantd. I have dark hair but that should not matter with a stylest who knows her stuff. Because another salon, from my hometown, got any colors i wanted perfect every time. And i mean every time, evn with different hairdressers. Sadly though since my hubby is in the military i had to recently move up here and look for new hair salons. And JK TANGLES IS ONE PLACE I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO AGAIN OR REFER ANYONE ELSE!!! read more

She is awesome for many reasons, but foremost I appreciate her because she took the time to have a proper consult before starting. She took time to actually listen and discuss the hair cut and color I was looking for. She didn't just guess or assume what I wanted like all the other salons and she didn't rush. Not terribly impressed with this place. My normal girl was busy so I decided to try a new salon but it looks like a 2 year old cut my hair. Super choppy and uneven and even though she was nice, it felt like a rushed job. Gonna go back to my normal stylist in a couple of weeks after it grows out some. read more
