We had a really wonderful experience with Harold as our home inspector. We hired him to inspect a…read moresingle family home for us, and he was responsive and highly professional -- but with a sense of humor. He arrived at the house before we did, and had filled out all of the necessary paperwork to get the inspection rolling the night before. The inspection itself was incredibly thorough, which was wonderful, because as we went through the house with Harold, it was clear that the house needed more work than we had thought when we made our offer. There were many problems (costly problems that also would have grown into health hazards) he pointed out to us -- but that had been concealed to the untrained eye. Harold emailed us an extremely detailed report later that night with pictures, and clear language and recommendations. We determined that we were not going to buy the house, and we have Harold to thank for helping us to avoid huge issues down the road. Back into the housing market now, which stinks -- but we will absolutely hire Mt. Vernon Inspection Associates when we find the next house!

After a Servpro demolition team throughout all the damaged furniture, carpets, wall boards and wall insulation and treated for mold, I started looking to hire a construction company to rebuild: insulation, wall boards, damaged sub flooring, plastering, painting, flooring, and the damaged baseboard heating. Using Yelp and Angie I requested a work proposal and cost estimate from 6 contractors, half of which never got back to me. LB Special Projects owner took time with me to explain the work to be done and answer all my questions. It was clear that he knew his business down to as much details as I wanted to know. His company went beyond the work I requested because they have a high standard of quality. They know you'll be living with the work they do. It's apparent from other reviews that this is a 5 star company. I would add that everyone that worked on restoring my house: carpenters, plumbers, electricians did their work to the same high standard, and were open and helpful to answering my questions I will continue to recommend this company and call upon them for any projects I want done in the future

I would not recommend to hire FRG to do your flat rubber roof!!!…read more In summer 2023 FRG came to redo the roof drain cap which was never installed properly at the first place by them back in Feb 2019. The roof has leaked every year since then and had 3-4 repairs. In April 2024, the roof drain clogged again(we have no trees around). The roof rain water seeped through under the roof drain compression ring, then flew down to the outside the drain pipe directly into the first floor bathroom wall and the basement floor. Fabio blame the leak caused by the drain pipe itself, not the roof. The drain pile has no integrity issue simply because after the roof drain debris cleared, the water leak has not occurred unless there is a heavy rain. And this only happened after FRG reinstalled the drain cover in summer of 2023. He did not apply for the building permit for this job either. To make the situation even worse, Fabio send me a $600+ bill for climbing up to the roof to check the leak and clearing the roof debris showed in the photo. But the roof leak is not fixed! I am a 30+ year real estate professional and have referred him a few jobs in the past. Sorry Fabio, not a job end up like this. What a nightmare.

I cannot thank MKC Associates--and specifically Tom Berthiaume--enough for the extraordinarily…read morethorough home inspection they conducted on a condo I intended to purchase. Their work quite literally saved me from making a huge mistake. The unit, located in a high‑end Boston property, turned out to be severely neglected and in need of major repairs. Without MKC's thoroughness, I might have ended up purchasing a property requiring immediate and expensive major electrical, plumbing, appliance, and fixture (windows and doors) repairs. Tom arrived early for the appointment, which took place over Labor Day weekend. That level of dedication matters, and I greatly appreciated being able to secure an expert inspection so quickly (literally a few days). The review lasted about 1.5 hours and covered not only the unit's interior but also the building's common areas, the roof, and the exterior envelope. I learned a lot--not just about the unit and its owner, but also about the HOA and the building's overall condition. The report was available the next day, both online as an interactive document and as a downloadable PDF. It was exceptionally detailed, well‑organized, and easy to navigate. MKC posts sample reports on their website, and I can confirm the real report you receive is just as comprehensive and descriptive as the examples. The photos show the actual appliances, fixtures, and features in the property, which makes reviewing deficiencies straightforward. MKC also provides helpful YouTube videos explaining how to access and interpret the report, including a powerful feature that allows buyers to communicate deficiencies and estimated repair or replacement costs directly to sellers. This tool is invaluable for anyone negotiating repairs or credits. The inspection cost--$860.25 in my case--was worth every penny. The unit I was considering would have required major expenditures to make it livable, and MKC's work prevented me from walking into a financial disaster. In summary, MKC is the real deal. Whether you're purchasing a condo or a single‑family home, I strongly encourage you to hire MKC for your inspection. You will not regret it.

A full and detailed report with pictures were sent to me within a few hours! He is as honest and hard working as it gets. A true gem and class act! There was one property, seven years back, that he saved me from purchasing, it was in terrible condition and he was honest.
