Ever since I started baking my own bread, I've become very particular with the bread that I buy (if I find myself needing to buy bread). I have passed Jipan many times before but never bothered to stop by. It was only when I was stuck in traffic in front of their store that I decided to try it out. I was pleasantly surprised to taste yummy bread! I tried their pandesal since they were freshly made. They were soft and warm and tasty on their own. I did not need any butter or filling to make it taste good. I also bought a loaf of their best-seller, the monroe bread, which tasted like a croissant to me. I found it too rich and too buttery for my own liking, but my husband and mom loved it. It's also much better when it is warm, so I liked it a bit more when I toasted it for a few minutes at home.
I love how the bakery is still small-scale and that their bread has not gone commercial yet. I do hope that they stay this way to maintain the freshness and quality of their breads. I also noticed that they have a dining area in their store where they can hold a few people. I'll definitely be back soon to try their breakfast and coffee! read more
