Buyer Beware I…read morestopped going here over 10 years ago and now I know why.  This company utilizes unscrupulous and avarice practices by stealthily adding extraneous fees without the knowledge of their respective clients.  They charged excess fees on my dental insurance for work that I did not need without consulting me.  This business only prioritizes money, as opposed to the health and well-being of its clients.  During my recent visit, they incessantly tried to ask if I needed additional services and I declined everything.  My teeth are healthy and I only went for a dental cleaning.  Please never use this business because they only want to augment their pockets materially by perilously risking our economic status.  It is a disgrace that this business consistently tries to rob it clients. First and foremost, I already called your office regarding this matter.  The response was vague and indifferent.  Regarding your reply today, you did not conduct due diligence regarding the mandates of my insurance company.  Furthermore, I have been to three other dental companies on and off, they always gleaned the appropriate data from my dental insurance of what was specifically covered by the patient.  Your company is a sham and greedy for money because you deliberately charged excess fees and services without my knowledge during the time of my exam.  I am simply trying to admonish people not to waste their time and money at an establishment that commits predatory practices.

But I have a serious problem with any business, but especially professional medical practitioners, using an advertised military discount to bait and switch. More problematic is attracting, unsuspecting older Veterans who would not even question a patriotic provider who is offering any discount Dr. Anastassatos website states: "Dr. Anastassatos also offers discounted dental care services to military veterans. Military veterans requiring implant placement and crowns are encouraged to visit AZ Healthy Smiles to get their new smiles at a 50 percent discount." The person I spoke to at Dr. Anastassatos office firs said that it must be something that another office or location offers. I told her that it was on the azhealthysmiles.com website she went back and checked with the Dr or Manager, who told her that it's some kind of third-party thing that's very complicated. She then explained that the discount was only for the implant portion. I showed her on the website where it said implant placement and Crowns add a 50% discount. She had no explanation. Many dentists use the classic dental implant bait-and-switch that involves advertising a very low price or discount on a dental implant, knowing that the average layperson doesn't know that the implant does not include the crown(visible tooth). My problem with Dr. Anastassatos is that his office takes it a step further by actually saying in writing implant and crown 50% military discount. There are a lot of vets out there that have enough problems without getting deceived by dental practitioners. Especially since Veterans do not get any dental coverage unless they are 100% disabled. So I disabled Veteran with a 90% disability and all other veterans have no dental coverage. That being said, from all the reviews that I've read, the doctor seems like a very good practitioner. Then when I said I needed to be out of there by 8am, the cleaning lasted 10 minutes. She took my X-rays, the doctor came in and didn't even look at my mouth, but told me I needed 2 crowns - $2300 please and asked me if I floss! I floss religiously, but then the Dr. would have known that if she had taken a look at my mouth. After telling me I needed two crowns, she finally looked at my mouth for all of 10 seconds. So disappointed. So angry that my insurance will pay $250 for that service. Of course, I don't trust the diagnosis and will have to take the time to get a second opinion.

They canceled my second appointment without explanation the night before. I had to reschedule, which is hard for me because of the crippling PTSD I suffer from. I used the absolute dental plan, and they do the least amount of work to maximize profit. My two lower molars are still sensitive a year later. The dentist had said that I would be required to get root canals. I don't agree with that because I have had crowns done before without root canals. They have an office they refer you to for root canals. I want to say well it could be an obvious kickback. I can't say for sure of course. The dental cleaning was good. When I told the hygienist that I suffer from horrible PTSD due to trauma, he recommended that I make fun of my trauma. Like it's something I can control, I usually go home in misery because dental offices just don't get. I had written this on my intake form but I guess no cared to read it. I guess I need be medicated in order to get dentals done, it's no fun.
