It makes you feel invisible, not even the owner greets anyone. I had enough of the rudeness to stop going. I tried it again after not going for over a year and upon returning, it was more of the same. No greeting from anyone. Oh I almost forgot that a 20% tip is automatic unless you catch it. A regular haircut at $40 plus an expected tip of 20% adds up quickly to put one in rip-off territory. Your typical college town, students living on daddy's money impact the regular customers that have to pay their way!

This is a barber shop, I go there to get a cut. When I want my feelings pampered, I go home to my wife. That's NOT saying that they are rude or unprofessional. I have had a couple of appointment snafu's, but then you suck it up. I understand that I am not the only customer they see and I need to be flexible ( they do try to fit in 'walk-ins). It's a first come, first served, cash-only type of place, but all three barbers are masters at their craft and will make you look handsome every time. It's a retro style barber shop run by younger guys. Expect classic barber chairs, vintage Tulsa pics on the wall, a straight razor neck shave, a great music playlist that ranges from Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline to 80s rock and punk, and lively banter between barbers and clients. Other establishments go for for neo-retro vibe but often come off as too hipsterish or too kitschy or just charge too much. Ford's gets it just right. I've sat in a chair next to young guys, seniors, kids, a well known local musician, and a woman on the butch end of the spectrum. Anyone who appreciates traditional barbering needs to hit this place up; there's no cliquish, cooler-than-thou vibe here. Keep in mind, however, that it isn't Great Clips, they will take longer than 15 minutes to make sure they get your cut right. For me, on each of my two times with John, the experience was let's get it done, hurry up, poor quality (according to my dear wife), and the floor, all around all the barber chairs hadn't been swept.
