This place was gold until the owner decided to destroy everything good about it. This was something I looked forward to every 2 weeks, for at least 2 years. My son and I would go here to get a haircut. Only saw the owner twice in that time. We developed a relationship with the stylists. The place took on a personality of its own. It buzzed. Great conversations, great personalities. The stylists got to know you and became your friends. Then the owner came back to work and ruined everything. Go here if you want a Sports Clips/Supercuts experience. Go here if you want a vanilla experience. This place lost all its appeal. All the talent left for another shop at 71st and Elm.

If you want a half ass haircut, someone who is fake and will just kiss your ass so that you tip good, go to Supercuts or somewhere like that. The one bad review Martins has is from someone who didn't even get a haircut. Just walked in, got their feelings hurt and walked out. That's the kind of customer you don't want.

I found the $1 first time visit coupon on their website so I clicked it and filled it out. A couple days later I got a call to schedule it. I walked in, was greeted immediately by a very friendly guy and girl at the front. I was asked what drink I wanted, I got a coffee and was taken back almost immediately. Damian was my stylist. She is awesome. Good conversation, informed me about the membership in a very natural way, absolutely nothing pushy at all. We talked about the style I wanted and she made some suggestions. We agreed and she cut my hair with precision and an attention to detail you don't get at cookie cutter shops...you know where I'm talking about!!! At the end I received a paraffin was hand treatment, a scalp massage/hair wash, and a hair styling. I LOVE my haircut! At the end she walked me up front and it was the $1 I thought it would be, I left a tip of course. We talked about the membership options and the gentleman explained it thoroughly and I decided to probably sign up at my next appointment in February. I enjoyed the atmosphere, the experience, again, Damian was great and I will most likely be using this place from now on. Not super cheap on the regular but if you want to look your best, be treated well, and have a nicer than regular experience then you get what you pay for. Highly recommend!

After doing a little research I quickly learned that most of those shops were located north of me with the exception of one; Black Label. I booked an appointment and I'm happy I did because not only did AG cut my sons hair well, the atmosphere of the shop was extremely family friendly, & clean. I utilized AG for the duration of our stay until I took another role and was relocated this past fall. Yes, you may have to wait but quality work is worth it. Oh by the way the wait time is not problem because unlike MOST barbershops the waiting area is clean and you don't have to worry about being solicited or overhearing what some would consider inappropriate conversations. I highly recommend this shop, and AG to anyone in the area. Friendly tip, book your next appointment while you're there waiting to be serviced... I would book my sons next 3 appointments as far as his calendar would allow.
