Some of the things that set Tonsorial apart were their online capabilities for scheduling, their beautiful and secure facility, and their warm and welcoming demeanor. It's a retro style barber shop run by younger guys. Expect classic barber chairs, vintage Tulsa pics on the wall, a straight razor neck shave, a great music playlist that ranges from Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline to 80s rock and punk, and lively banter between barbers and clients. Other establishments go for for neo-retro vibe but often come off as too hipsterish or too kitschy or just charge too much. Ford's gets it just right. I've sat in a chair next to young guys, seniors, kids, a well known local musician, and a woman on the butch end of the spectrum. Anyone who appreciates traditional barbering needs to hit this place up; there's no cliquish, cooler-than-thou vibe here. Keep in mind, however, that it isn't Great Clips, they will take longer than 15 minutes to make sure they get your cut right. It was more like a trim with hair products being applied to your hair for the final finish. For the price paid, it was not worth it so I left and found my current hairstylist at Great Clips. The good thing at Cultured Hair Lounge is your hairstylist will spend the time listed, 45 minutes for all scissors haircut. So don't expect to be done before that time. Haircuts at Cultured Hair Lounge are more expensive than at your regular barbershop, more than twice as expensive. It's a nice shop on Route 66 and S. Lewis, but I feel the haircut isn't worth it.

I got on their website and easily found and booked an open appointment for the next day. The website makes it extremely convenient for the customer as well as David and Carl. It sets up their schedule when you book so they don't have to keep track of everything. You get a confirmation text and email when you book, as well as a couple of reminders. Carl is recently graduated from Clary-Sage college and did a great job on my haircut. He asked how I wanted it and made a few helpful suggestions. They use scissors on top, clippers on the sides, warm lather and a straight razor on the neck, a vacuum to remove trimmings, and a hot towel to clean off the neck and face. That is the basic $17 haircut. I only got the basic service as I did not have time for more; I wish I had, because the August/September special includes your choice of the Lucky Tiger Treatment, the Stress Mitigation or the Celebration for free (see website for details). The basic is $17, $19 if you need product washed out of your hair. They offer much more though, and I will definitely be returning for as long as they are in business and continue their great service, and will suggest Beldevere to any man in Tulsa looking for an awesome old fashioned barber experience from the 1950s, not just a standard haircut.
