This is the worse cut I ever had in my life. The hair dresser might be good for men hair cut but definitely no talent to cut hair for women.

Jim will do what you ask for the most part although when my bf asked for the top to be a lil shorter he said it was already short. Love that you can come same day with no prior appointment. Jim's been cutting my hair for close to 20 years, before Jim's Hair studio it was Annie's hair studio. I believe Jim took over in 1992 or 93 and has been there ever since. He's always done a good job, now if only he can get some extra help. read more

This place is a hidden gem... If you're looking for a quick trim or haircut without the fancy smancy things other hairdressers do, this is the place for you. For those of you who know me, my hair is like super long... I'm talking like down to my hips long & I was in denial for a while but I definitely knew it was time for a haircut. I found this place via yelp for this cheap pricing and good reviews. They were all right. I was able to make an appointment the day of and was able to be in and out within 30 minutes. He asked for exactly what I wanted & made sure we were on the same page with how much I wanted to cut off. I asked for long layers and that was exactly what he did. He made sure I was left with no split ends and helped me blow dry my hair before I left. But the best part was at the end when he told me it was $13. I think my eyes kinda bugged out and he noticed & added "it's because your hair was long" and I reassured him that I was surprised that it was ONLY $13. I asked if the place was new since I never heard about it before but he said they've been there for over 20 years. I've been to a lot of bad hairdressers.. Places have dyed my hair orange when I wanted brown & another charged me $70 when all they did was thin out my hair & left it looking exactly how I walked in there. But for the sake of those places I'll keep those names hidden. I'll definitely be going back to this place because it's really worth every penny. Jim also cuts womens hair. If you are not a Chinese speaking person, do not fear, Jim speaks the language of hair. A tip if you are trying to come here for the weekend. The store is pretty small with a small wait area. So if you come in and sit down as a newcomer do be too shocked if there are folks peep their head in and mention something in Catonese (probably checking their place in the queue). There were definitely times where an unaware person could have felt slighted b/c their were in the store longer than someone else who just popped in. I will miss being able to go to Jim's on a weekday. You pretty much just walk right in. The weekends are a very popular time. Came here for my first visit and this place is tiny. I had a few doubts but needed a cut. I showed Jim a picture of an earlier haircut I had gotten but have not been able to get back from other salons. He understood right away and worked quickly. I'm giving this place a 3 for now since I'm planning on returning and seeing how that goes, but there is one noticeable downside and that is that I'm not sure if he sterilizes his equipment. Tiny storefront with cheap prices, generally caters to the Asian community in Quincy. My whole family comes here. There are a couple of stylists here, but Jim is the best one and we prefer to get our hair cut by him. He is really great about customer service too -- once he came in after a red eye flight from Vegas just to cut my sister's hair. Awesome. read more

I HAD to write a review. Jim is the best. I have long thick hair and am used to paying 60 plus downtown for just a haircut. recently I have cut back on the excessive spending. especially on things that are over priced anyways. I came across his other reviews here and figured I'd try him out. his first cut was so good that I made him my new hairdresser (for cuts). I waited an extra 2.5 weeks this time around because he was on vacation. BEST HaIRCUT. and the icing on the cake? he only charged me 13.00. I told him he needed to charge more. lol. read more

Let me start this out by saying that before going to Jim's I hadn't had a haircut in 3-4 years. I had also had my hair cut by the same person for about a decade. Then I moved to Quincy, needed a hair cut, and looked to Yelp. I wasn't disappointed. I called on a Friday morning and was able to schedule an appointment for about an hour later- awesome. Jim is super friendly and sweet. He's also to the point! My hair cut total time was less than 10 minutes. I asked for a basic cut (all one length). Although fast, Jim did a great job! He cut my hair exactly the length I asked for- none of that "can you just trim an inch off?" and they chop off 6 inches nonsense. He also gave me a wonderful straight blow out which seemed magical considering I went in with dry curly hair. When all was said and done I asked how much I owed him. $11. Suggested by my cousin. If you're looking to get a quick and cheap trim and cut under $20 then this is the place to go. I came for a trim since my hair was beyond dry and in need of care. Got my hair washed right away the moment I walked in. I have to say my scalp hurt a bit because I feel like the lady was scratching the crap out of my scalp. No bueno!!! But I got a needed trim for $15 so I guess you get what you pay for. I don't know if I'll come back just because of how much it hurt when the lady washed my hair lol, but yeah for a quick and cheap cut, why not? read more

I've been going to Jim's Hair Studio for over 10 years. Low price, great cut. One thing to remember is that you have to remind him exactly why kind of cut your "regular" is. I've made the mistake a few times and ended up looking like poindexter. read more

I have super long hair, to my belly button. It was almost 3 years since I had my hair cut, the reason being I would always walk out of a salon upset and unsatisfied. Jim made sure I was super happy with my hair, and for that I have him a nice tip! The only reason I had to take off a star was because I'm not sure if he sanitizes his tools after every client. Other than that, he's very quick and has been cutting hair (men and women) for over 30 years! read more
