A woman washed my hair & massaged my scalp 3 times before conditioner!! Most hair salons, they barely put a drop of shampoo on your hair, rub it around for a min or 2 then rinse it out. Now I would like to tell you about the stylist, Sunny, who did an amazing blow out! Ladies, if your stylist does not section your hair with clips and blow dries each section at a time, run! I could tell Sunny had a lot of experience because his technique was spot on! When he was finished, without me even asking, he used a flat iron to smooth it out with product that left it shiny. I liked it. So I wanted to take my husband here as well, and this time I wanted Eric to do our hair . I've seen how he cut clients hair while I've waited my mom to finish getting her perm by the owner, and each time, the clients hair looks really nice . Then I told myself.. Next time, I want Eric to cut my hair! We called at 4Pm on a Tuesday for both of us, and he told us to come in at 5. Once we got there, he was still working on another clients hair and told us it'll be a few minutes. My husband wanted to color his hair dark brown and a side swept cut. Though, I thought his hair wasn't long enough, but Eric somehow, made it work. He suggested to use a paste And gave some tips on how my husband should style it and that next time he should just trim around it. It's really hard to explain, but with my husband hair, it's not easy. I've brought him to multiple salons, and none of the stylist were able to shape it to his liking but Eric did. He loved it and he said he will be back! Which is a plus!!! My turn was next while my husband wait for his color to come out. I chopped my hair last year before I gave birth, and it has only grown about 3 inches. I told Eric I'm trying to grow it out so I want a little trimmed, thin it a bit with layers. The lady wash my hair first, combed, and Eric came over to do a few wet cuts at my ends. After, he blow dried it and did a dry cut. I loved the fact that he didn't rush to do our hair either, even though it was closing time. He did exactly what I asked and my hair didn't look short AT all! I was satisfied. Now I see why everyone on Yelp raves about Eric!

New Style is quite different. A few things I love about New Style Hair Salon: 1) $8 Hair Cut. Yes, it is $8. I didn't mistype. 2) My hair cut was just as I wanted -- healthy length and perfect simple layers. 3) In and out within 10 minutes. It's not even about the price that got me. I've been to Newbury Street salons, and salons in NYC and Boston. However, I always try to find my way to this salon when I just need a healthy cut again. Now, don't expect fancy lights, big posters and leather chairs from here. Or other fancy styles. Nor should you expect a nice chat with your hairstylist. I usually have two sentences with her and then a simple "thank-you" at the end before my departure. However, every time I walk out the door, my hair is much lighter, shiner and healthier. I'm always ready to smile again. I found out a few friends of mine also go to her for the simple cut and they all love it.

The place may seem a little ghetto and intimidating but I promise you everyone here is very welcoming! If…read moreyou're considering coming here, I definitely recommend reading this review from start to finish because Amari and this salon genuinely deserve the recognition. I had an absolutely amazing experience with Amari at We Are Hair in Jamaica Plain, Boston. From start to finish, her professionalism, attention to detail, and warm personality made the entire experience unforgettable. I usually struggle with my hair because it's long, thick, curly, and can be very hard to manage. It's not always easy finding someone who truly understands how to work with my texture, but Amari handled it effortlessly. She made my hair look absolutely beautiful -- smooth, styled perfectly, and exactly how I envisioned it. Even more impressive, my blowout alone lasted over three weeks, which has never happened for me before with my curly hair. Amari did my hair for my bridal shower, and she also styled the entire bridal party. Everyone had different hair textures, lengths, and styles, and she handled each one with skill and confidence. Every single person left looking and feeling amazing. It meant so much that everyone felt confident and beautiful for such a special event. She's also incredible with color, and you can tell she really knows what she's doing. Honestly, the wash and blow dry alone looked like something I would expect to pay much more for than what she charges. On top of her talent, the salon itself is absolutely beautiful. I especially loved the sunflowers -- they added such a warm, welcoming touch -- and the lighting fixtures were stunning. The whole space felt bright, clean, and thoughtfully designed, creating a relaxing and professional atmosphere from the moment you walk in. Amari is talented, professional, and genuinely passionate about what she does. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for styling, color, or special event hair -- especially for bridal parties or anyone with thicker or curly hair. She truly exceeded my expectations, and I will definitely be returning.
