Oh where to begin. Called for a tow at 1:30pm. Was told would be about an hour which seemed normal and acceptable. At 3:00pm I called and was told there were several police calls they had to take care of and they would be here asap which also seemed acceptable. At 4:00pm I was told driver was dropping at a local dealership and heading my way should be about 15 minutes. At 4:30pm I was told he was 2-3 minutes away. At 5:15pm I called once again. Dispatch didn't understand why he wasn't here yet. Radios the driver and he said he was 10 minutes away. At 5:30pm I called and cancelled the tow. 4 hours later nothing. If they cannot provide service to the public then they shouldn't offer. read more

My car was totaled on N. Creasy Lane (no injuries) at 5:20 PM on 4/13/2023, and two tow trucks driven by Nate and Carter arrived within 15 minutes after police assistance. Nate handled my car and gladly took me with him to Chevrolet Collision. He really knows how to handle a cab and trailer. Pierre at Jim's garage was at my daughters vehicle within seven minutes (literally). He immediately went to work to freeing our dog from the locked car(Hershey; the dog accidentally jumped on the window seal & hit the lock button with his paw & locked the keys in car). Pierre got it open in a matter of moments and was extremely professional and courteous. During this stay at home ban (covid19) We didn't know what we were going to do. Don't bother calling a dealership to get a key fob Jim's garage is cheaper and way quicker than dealership quoted me. Did I mention it was FREE bc any kids or pets locked in a vehicle is considered an emergency. Had one of there drivers drive up into our yard to retrieve a vehicle instead of using the business's parking lot. My father was attempting to mow the yard(and he was parked in it). My father passed him with the lawn mower and he claims some rocks hit him. Then proceeds to come into our yard trying to start a fight with my 65 year old father. Goes on to say he's a public service worker as if he's more important than the rest of us or something. We diasculate the situation and walk away. But I stayed on my back porch to ensure he wasn't planning on driving though the yard(that's where my truck was parked) as he drives down our alley he proceeds to start yelling profanitys as he drives away. Then he attempts once again to park the tow truck and walk up into the yard looking for a fight!! Definitely wouldn't recommend jims... seems they only hire unprofessionals. My car got towed this morning for having expired plates. It will be around $200 to register the plates and $200 for the one day its been at this garage. It is $40 every additional day it remains at this garage. I contacted them and asked if i could work out a payment plan because I am a college student. I got out my truck without grabbing my key fob, and then my dog jumped on the door & locked the car from the inside. I was completely locked out of my truck! I called a Jeep dealership and they gave no solution. I then called the Non-Emergency 911 hotline and they gave me the number to Jim's Garage. I called and in under 10 minutes I had a service man at my car working on the door. Pierre (the service man) was quick, professional and understood that this was an emergency because my little doggy was locked inside! Apparently, at Jim's Garage dogs and children classify as an emergency (because they are!) and when it's an emergency the lock-out service was FREE! When I called back was told again that he had to send his driver to another accident . My insurance company sent Pierre from Jim's Garage to tow my car. He showed up in less than 20 minutes on an early Sunday morning. He had to set my car's front wheels up since it's an all-wheel drive. He had it ready to go in minutes. He gave me a ride to my mechanic. I am impressed and will be using them again! read more

Careful of the drivers. They charge you for gas when it's supposed to be a free 5$ fill up through your insurance. They charged me 15$ and I saw the driver pocket money into his wallet! This is the worst tow truck company I have ever interacted with. They were in charge of towing my boyfriends car. The first day they were supposed to pick it up was during snowpacolypse so I can understand why it took them 6-7 hours to get there. Then they towed it to the wrong place even though He had confirmed the correct address with them multiple times. After the mechanics took a look it needed to be towed to a new location for some specialty work. He confirmed a day and time with them to meet them. (He needed to meet them to follow them to the new mechanic). They then promptly did not show up at the date and time confirmed. When my boyfriend called they responded with "oh ummm.. I can have somewhere there shortly." My boyfriend waited for almost two hours and no one ever showed up. Do yourself a favor and pick a different company. read more

Used a tow service 3 times in three years in Lafayette. First two times were with a different tow service who offered a better time estimate, as well as a much better price. Today My wife lost control and her vehicle became stuck in some mud. I didn't need a tow but i did need someone with a chain or strap to pull me out . I was told one hour, to one and a half hours. which there was light snow and slippery conditions so i know they were busy. they arrived over four hours later. and again they didn't tow me they pulled my car out with a chain about five feet tops and was on their way within 15 min with 85 dollars. The office staff was rude, vulgar & denied me the right to a copy of my paperwork with my personal information on it & signature! The only info of theirs on the document was their name, address, phone & fax number! They hadn't even signed it yet! I'm a person that likes to keep hard copies of documents in case they get lost on the Internet or don't get sent at all! They refused to let me back to MY vehicle that is fully paid for & MY legal property! Let alone my possessions, license plate & registration..... ALL of which I've paid for! That's legally considered theft or stealing! My biggest complaint was the bleached blond woman in the office who decided I was being uncooperative & told me that our discussion was over & to leave their property or they'd call the cops! Mind you they had possession of my property on their locked lot! When I wouldn't back down & told her to call the police cause I wanted to report them stealing my property she became hostile & called for some big burly guy to help escort me off the premises! Stating they have the right to deny service to anyone that they feel is a threat! I had my 12 yr old son with me & I'm 5'2" tall weighing 125lbs! She out weighed me by at least 50+ pounds & had a few inches on me at that! This is NOT how you treat customers or people in general! I will say the big burly guy was polite but I'm sure he's probably sick of her immature, unprofessional ways of running a business! I don't know how they are even still in business with this crude & vulgar service & stealing of people's belongings! Don't EVER call on Jim's garage for ANYTHING! You will just be verbally abused & stolen from! I've never in my life been treated so poorly just for asking for a copy of a document I needed for insurance purposes! I feel they are identity thieves & don't want the customers to know that they are stealing their information & identities! What other reason could there possibly be to deny me a document with only my personal information & signature on it! They never did sign it on the witness line stating they'd attested that the information & signature indeed belonged to me! I advise everyone to take their business to a more reputable & legitimate establishment that's upfront & considerate of those trying to protect their own best interests in not getting scammed or identity stolen! I was traveling from Chicago to Louisville when I caught a flat tire in Lafayette. Had to go through my car insurance and wait for a tow truck. All I will say is that John O. not only had me laughing and was so light hearted, but he also persuaded a local tire shop to stay open LATE to fix my flat!!!! Over all, I'd have to sayJim's Garage and the tow truck driver, Jason did a great job picking up our car. He's a hard worker, had a really nice customer service approach and positive attitude. He took a lot of care loading our car to take it across town for repairs. It's an old car, but in nice condition and he treated it as if it were new. While it took them a little longer than expected to pick up our car, their workload was obviously heavy, so I was quite pleased when he arrived and went right to work. He was going to be facing a long night due to an incoming snow storm, yet more than happy to work with us. Once we got to the repair shop, he took the time to make sure the car could be offloaded in a spot that was good for them too. I'm glad Jim's Garage came highly recommended to us. My daughter's car slid off Concord Road near Brady Lane. After calling me for help I knew we needed a tow truck. I called Jim's Garage to pull her out of the ditch. They dispatched a truck to us which arrived in about 15 minutes. The driver promptly checked the car to see if there was any damage. Fortunately there was not. He then attached a cable to the car and was able to safely remove it from the ditch. The driver was very polite. I was able to pay the bill with a credit card and we were on our way. I did not choose Jim's Garage for towing...the Indiana State Police did. My daughter was in an accident, and Jim's was called to tow. When my husband went to pick up the belongings from the vehicle, the office staff was unbelievably rude and unprofessional. The tone of the secretary was condescending and she did not try to find out what he was there for. She incorrectly made assumptions why he was there. Once he clarified his purpose for being there, she became even ruder. This office clearly doesn't know how to conduct themselves professionally. (Heaven forbid she get up from behind her desk and come to the counter to meet a customer.) On a separate note, the woman called up to take him to the vehicle was incredibly kind, professional and helpful. Too bad she is working with the rude office staff that makes the entire business look bad. read more

The service was just horrible. My daughter is a Purdue student and had to have her car towed there. It was misdiagnosed, kept for 2 weeks, and sent out literally with the wheel falling off the car. When we tried to communicate over the phone from 80 miles away, they never returned calls and put us on hold and disconnected us. They didn't follow through on anything. It needed an alignment, which they said they would set up. At the other shop, Beck's, they got us in quickly and fixed the loose bolts and problems left by Jim's plus the alignment in under an hour.
