Service was super friendly and attentive. Food was unbelievable! Best food we had in our entire trip. We had some corn, captains platter with blackened shrimp, salad, chowder, and mussels. Our toddler loved the mussels. He ate them all. All food was beyond great. I also had non alcoholic drinks which was very good! Definitely recommend.

Because this was their first time in Savannah, we couldn't let them leave without a visit to the beach. Although the day was a bit overcast and windy, it was still a nice afternoon and we decided to grab some local fare before heading back to Pooler. Salt Island is a small restaurant located right on the main strip as you turn into the seafront area. There is limited parking in and around the restaurant, but we were lucky because Sunday afternoon was fairly deserted. However, I would imagine that on a busy weekend you would likely need to find creative parking because a lot of the nearby parking seemed to be reserved for home and condominium owners. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating with a sizable bar and plenty of room to entertain larger groups. The menu is fairly simple but packed with a couple of really interesting items that you wouldn't technically expect to find in a beachfront fish house. And while we didn't order any of the more offbeat items, I have to say, seeing Chicken Tinga on the menu was a pleasant surprise. Especially since my in-laws are Mexican. Lol, I actually ordered the whole fried snapper tacos, which was essentially a whole fish fried to perfection but then accompanied with a bounty of authentic Mexican taco fixings including fresh tortillas, Cajita cheese, and fresh salsa and guacamole. The waiter promised I would be the envy of the table, and I was! This thing was so big. I ended up taking some of it home and eating it as a late night fish taco snack. The rest of the table ordered a combination of the fresh fish served any way you like it and the shell on shrimp boil. Both options were also fantastic. They also offer a variety of beers and have a fairly full bar so there's fun to be had here for everyone. Service was also really tight with our waiter making multiple trips to the table to make sure everybody was good. This is definitely a spot I would recommend if you are hanging out at the beach.

Even though I was driving and had water to drink instead of a cocktail, she was amazing! She asked me what type of lunch was I interested in (crab legs take time and more work, but so worth it, etc!). She made great suggestions, and truly the food was delivered in What seems like Seconds! Absolutely hands down the best crab legs that i have ever had!!

I'm not into seafood that much but wife is and loves boils so we decided to try it. Man we were sad we did. I'll start by saying this is a fun roadside attraction type of a place. I'm sure kids would love it. Also staff were very friendly. The food however. Well not so much. I just got a chili dog with the mashed potatoes and a cup of clam chowder. The chowder was decent not great and to be honest the chili dog was good for what it is but that's not why you go. The mashed taters were horrible. The wife got the shrimp and sausage boil with corn and potatoes. Not a lick of seasoning. The potatoes were cooked well but 0 and I mean 0 flavor. Shrimp seemed fresh but again 0 flavor. I guess they are afraid of old bay or any seasoning for that matter. The sausage was also not good at all. Not sure what kind they use but it is not good. Stop and check the place out but eat somewhere worth your money.

Got the smokehouse burger and fries, do not pass on the fries they were so so good. Burger was HUGE, flavor was amazing, the onion ring batter had such great seasoning. I'll be dreaming about it. Crab cake was on special got one as an à la carte, again huge, flavor phenomenal. Also tried the collard greens, first time ever I liked them! Can't comment too much as I haven't had them before. All in all if you're staying on the island or close to please for the love of all things holy make this place a stop for dinner. Happy we wet early because we didn't make reservations!

I was a bit disappointed to be given a tiny two-top table as there were several other couples seated at 4-tops and enough other open tables when we arrived early for our reservation. The menu had some interesting items, but they were out of (or down to the last one) of a couple items. Plus there were a few added nightly specials on the blackboard. I was surprised that haddock was the fresh catch fish of the day as I'd always thought of it as a northern fish. They start you out with a couple biscuits and peach jam for the table. We decided to share an order of fried green tomatoes to start. There were 3 slices topped with dollops of creamy cheese on the plate. They were good. After that, I had a lobster tail along with a side of skillet potatoes. My husband had a crab cake appetizer. Both were just okay. He said there was a lot of filler (60/40) in the crab cake. For dessert, we shared a slice of lemon cake with lemon curd dressing. The waitress brought it to the table with a lit candle as it was my husband's birthday. The cake was very good. This had been touted as the best fine dining option on island. It was good -- with an innovative menu -- but not comparable to other cities' fine dining establishments. We were still glad that we came to try them.
