Wi-fi internet is available, so take the laptop along and get on with your own stuff while the kids play. The food is really good. When they first opened I got a peek at the kitchen and it was more like something out a 5* hotel than a cafe. Most of the food is proper cooked stuff, and there's a fair choice on the menu at reasonable prices. Most of the staff are really friendly, many have childcare experience. It's run by two couples who both have families so they've taken an proper interest in making the best of the place that they can. It's close to the school so it does get very busy at around 3pm but if you're able to go in the morning then it's lovely - I'd highly recommend taking a trip through Brigg to call in here if you're passing on the M180.

I would strongly recommend this for age 7 - 10 though smaller ones are able to come along too, height restrictions do apply to certain parts of the adventure courses, so to avoid disappointed I would recommend you go onto their website and check first. This place is all about fun and fitness for the whole family. They have a massive high wire forest adventure course; which is set within the countryside and developed to encourage you to get moving, and trust me by the end you the adventure a good cuppa and sleep is what you'll need, though if it is for the family then keeping the kids active by getting them tired then Jungle Parc is the place to bring them. It is a very safe environment and with all the proper equipment it is very enjoyable. The X-plorer course is for anyone over 1.35m in height and the Adventurer course is for children from 4 years old and with minimum height of 1.05m. The Jungle Parc is situated in Croxteth Country Park which is only 10 minutes from the city centre.

You can buy bags of feed from the small shop for the animals and there is also a large indoor play area (which does cost to use) if the kids have excess energy that needs using up! A nice touch are the hand-cleaning stations dotted around the farm so you can keep everyone nice and hygienic! The farm store sells locally produced meat and free range eggs (including quail and duck), and you can also buy live poultry for your back garden flock too!

There is an excellent indoor play area, some outdoor play areas with go karts and ride on trikes..., and of course a huge selection of farm animals for your little ones to learn about. There is a cafe serving lunches and refreshments, and a party area upstairs. It cost us £24 for two adults and my three year old to access the playbarn and go on the farm tour, and my one year old went free. You can pay less just to access the playbarn, without going on the farm tour. This seems to be a great spot for parent and toddler meet ups. The farm tour was really excellent - lasting around an hour, with the opportunity to hold/pet mice, rats, Guinea pigs, and hedgehogs in the indoor small animal section. We then moved outside and saw goats, llama, pigs, donkeys, Shetland Ponies, sheep, chickens and ducks. There was lots of opportunities for the little ones to interact with the animals such as brushing the pig, sitting on the Shetland pony and feeding the hungry lambs. We all had a great day out at Big Sheep Little Cow and my three year old in particular got to try out new things through interacting with the farm animals. Special mention to all the lovely staff we came across - everyone was so friendly, and we all left smiling!

Funky Farm is a large softplay centre situated on the outskirts of Northallerton. The equipment is clean and in good repair and whether my 2.5yr old son is there or my 8 year old nephew - there is something for both of them! Peppered around the room are numerous coin slot type rides (which generally the kids play on without them moving!), some fake tattoo machines, bouncy ball machines and a teddy grabber. All extra expense but I've heard a thousand times Mums & Dads tell their little ones that it's broken Darling so most of us get away with not handing over the pennies! The food is impressive - everything from chips and chicken nuggets, veggie chilli and rice, hot panini's fish fingers - HUGE baguettes, salads, home made soups and a large choice of drinks, icecreams and sweet cakes etc. They do have some gluten free items available too. The food is somewhat on the pricey side but of a high quality and very decent portions. There are three toilets, one being a disabled / baby changing room and these are kept clean and tidy. Funky Farm also caters for themed parties and although I've never attended one I have been there when they have been on and they seem well organised and a lot of fun! Opening times are 10am - 6pm Tuesday - Sunday. There is plenty of private parking for patrons.

You should go if you want to rekindle your childhood sense of whimsy, of discovering hidden things, of exploring, of secret passageways and concealed paths. You're bound to find something here that makes you smile! There's both a café and a restaurant on site. The café serves the usual sandwiches, pies and pasties, wholes the restaurant has a more extensive menu. You can also take picnic, but can't eat it inside - there is a picnic area outside, and your ticket let's you go in and out as many times as you want. To go, you have to book in advance and pick a time slot. There isn't a limit on how long you can stay in, just when you can enter. I'd suggest booking as soon as you can, and picking out an early time. We spent about five hours, and that felt like a good length of time to be there. I'll be going back in the future - it was great fun, and well worth the trip.

Magna is located in an old steel plant just off the M1 in Rotherham. It is clearly signposted and…read moreeasily found. It is a hands-on interactive science learning centre, primarily aimed at children, although adults can learn things as well. There is no heating in the building, so be prepared to wear your coat all day if it's cold. It is also quite dark in places, which creates an eerie feeling, like walking through an abandoned building. Inside there are four main areas, or pavilions, which are based on the four elements (Fire, Air, Earth and Water) and an exhibition area. There are also two fun/playareas outside: Sci-Tek an adventure playground) and Aqua-Tek (a very wet play area). The first thing we encountered was an exhibition on colour, what it is and how it effects our lives. This is a good exhibit, and if you don't know the difference between addictive and subtractive colour mixing, then this will teach you! You walk past the restaurant, and enter the main part of the building. Each of the pavilions is on a different level and there are stairs and lifts for access. We headed of towards Fire first. To get there you have to walk along a long gantry which runs alongside one of the old furnaces. It is very dark here with very little natural light. Every hour there is a display of how the furnace worked using lights and pyrotechnics which lasts about 10-15mins and is very good. In the Fire pavilion you can find out about fire and heat. The displays range from heating up a piece of wire with electricity, to how heat is used in making steel and there is an impressive fire-tornando in the centre of the room. Our next stop was up in an air-ship which was the Air pavilion. Here we found out how a dyson vacuum cleaner works, all about sound and various other things. Two floors down is the Water pavilion. Again this is hands on, so expect to get a bit wet. You can learn all about whirlpools, water flow and play with an industrial water soaker. Good fun for little ones! Down underground is the Earth pavilion. This is all about rocks and other natural resources. You can pretended to excavate rocks, carry them in a wheel barrow and watch how they move around a convey-belt system like a real quarry. It's even possible to lift yorself of the ground by pulling on a rope. There are three eating areas in the building: a restaurant which provides hot meals and sandwiches, a cafe (which we didn't sample) and a large area for eating picnics. This is also a reasonable gift shop which sells science related products and toys. This is a good example of a hands-on science museum that teaches children all about science without them realising. However, you'll probably find they want to spend all they're time outside playing in the play areas - probably the Aqua-Tek one. It is a good idea to bring either a swimming costume or a spare set of clothes for them as they will be absolutely soaked. Should you find you have finsihed here and there is still some time left in you day, then just 5mins away is Meadowhall Shopping Centre.

I would love to give Magna a 5 star review - in fact I would have done after my first visit. The…read moreproblem is that nothing has happened to it for some time and its is slowly falling into decline. Every time I go I see the place getting dirtier and dirtier, and if something is broken in one of the exhibition areas it isn't fixed next time I go. I suspect this is down to local funding being absent. It's a real shame as it's a fascinating place and my children absolutely love it, but even they remarked at how broken stuff hadn't been fixed since the last time. Despite all that the concept is a very good one and I still tend to go there about once a year. The fire tornado is still great but a lot of the other stuff in that section is run down and doesn't work properly. The air section features some fun bits such as a steam whirlwind, and the water section is still amusing (but take care as your children are likely to end up getting very wet here!). If some money could be spent here on maintaining the place it would be fantastic, but as it is I can't see it holding the attraction it used to for my family. One thing that is worth mentioning is the brilliant childrens' playground outside (there is a dry and a wet section!) - this is absolutely enormous and it's hard prising your children off it when it's time to go home!

St Leonards Farm Park is one of those little beauties. It's an award winning farm in Esholt Village, the original home of the soap Emmerdale. We're talking stunning scenery here and some real fresh air in the lungs. The farm has lots of different animals, some of which you can feed. The play areas are well equipped with rather tempting swing bridges. When the weather is better they have ample areas for picnics and on certain days you'll even be able to have a ride on a tractor. Not sure I'm allowed on them though, rubbish. There are plenty of walks and nature trails and a fun barn and refreshments area too. It ticks all of the boxes and is definitely worth a visit
