When I first checked out Jimmy Grants in Fitzroy I was hooked. Not ordinarily a big souva fan, these are just too damn good to resist. The pita bread is fluffy and soft, the meat (any combo!) out of this world, jam in some crunchy chips and swap out the stinko garlic sauce with mustard dressing and you have yourself the best souvlaki in town. The Emporium addition of Jimmy Grants sits within the "cafe court", so it's designed for super fast prep of your souvlaki. The food hasn't been compromised by the food court environment, with a big open kitchen and production line churning through those bad boys at breakneck speed. I went during school holidays and was impressed that there wasn't a big hoard of angry/bored looking diners waiting for their meal. The actual food court dining experience is as crowded and painful as can be expected, but if you're on the run this is a great option. read more

Was on a holiday here from Sydney for a few days and was staying at a hotel not too far from emporium so decided to give jimmy grants a try on our first day in Melbourne for lunch. I am of Greek background and I have to say my mum and I were impressed. We had mr papadopoulos and the chips with feta and gosh I don't think I have ever had a yeeros so nice before ! Love my souvas, be them down and dirty 2am ones from some shonky looking van parked on the side of the road, or from places like Jimmy Grants that are trying to take them a little upmarket. Well, as upmarket as you can get in a shopping centre food court. The souva meat in the combo was awesomely delicious, and while it is slightly on the small side of things, the chips inside the souva, plus the bread itself, make things dense enough to fill you up. read more

There are quiet a few locations for this place but i ate at the one in Empourium food court. They have 6 or so types of souvlaki on their menu along with a couple different salads. I ordered the chicken mix with lamb and shared a green salad with my friend. The souvlaki was good but not something to brag about, whereas the salad omg is the bomb. My friend even went online to find me the recipe so i could try and make it at home. Definitely recommend the salad it was just that awesome. read more

I had Jimmy Grants for the first time last night and was well impressed with my souvla as was my Greek girlfriend with hers. We both had the Mr Papadopoulos which is a lamb souvlaki. Strangely, the menu says it comes with mustard aioli! This is silly, make sure you tell them to replace the aioli with tzatziki. We both loved our souvlaki's 'and enjoyed that they made them authentically; with chips. At $12.50, it's a little pricey once you add a drink given that it is in a food court but then again it was good! I love good Greek food and will try Jimmy Grant's again next time I am feeling peckish at the Emporium. read more

I guess I had high expectation, and they were not met. Would I try again?... sure. But I won't be racing back. I had the chicken souvlaki (was a 15 min wait for lamb, not sure if that's normal but I felt was excessive for a food court . The bread was great, soft and thick enough to ensure you didn't end up with garlic sauce running down your arms. The major let down for me was the chicken. Sure it was cooked but when I think souvlaki I think slightly crispy, slightly smokey. Unfortunately it was soft and and lacking any crispy textures. This is only my opinion, based on my tastes. If I could give this place a 0 star review I would. Seriously overpriced for the size of the food. No salads of any kind except parsley in the meal, it was basically just bread, meat and chips rolled into one thing. Where the hell is the sauce?! Meat was kinda ok, but needed something fresh in the meal to make it actually enjoyable. Would recommend people to never ever go here if they want good Greek food! Okay so this get full stars from me because they are the best in their field. If you want to talk about fast food, that is well priced and tastes better than any of its competitors then jimmy grants is where you're eating! I mean the souvlaki's are so tasty with meats and seafood that is fresh and full of flavour. I mean you're paying less than Nandos for a much more substantial meal, that isn't made for the masses. Personally I loved the mixed one with chicken and lamb that goes down an absolute treat. The most interesting and outstanding option on the menu tho would have to be their chips that and covered in feta, garlic oil and oregano. It's so simple but so delicious, it makes your standard hot chips look real average after you have some of these bad boys. Overall for the price the meals are beyond fast food, way tastier, much more satisfying and down right brilliant. read more

Now let me just set the record straight.. I am not someone who usually makes friends with salad and this is just a stern rule that is placed in my life. Why on earth would I go to a souvlaki specialist and order a salad?!?!! but guess what that is exactly what I did and I could not be more happy. I have tried the souvs many times before and they are just god damn delicious (get the Nonna Maria, chips inside a thick tasty pita, smothered in delicious honey grain mustard, garlic sauce, garnished with pickled Spanish onion.. um amazing) But I am not here to talk about the souv. Jimmy Grants serves as a good go to destination for reasonably priced souvlaki's. Smaller in size, with none of the grease fest feeling of their competitors. Fluffy bread and great ingredients inside, means they are good as a quick pit stop grab and go where ever you are. Given that they are mostly entrapped with the masses of people scrambling for tables an 'on the run' option is notably suitable. The chips and marinated feta are probably an item best eaten sitting down however. Go the original lamb souva or the mixed combo, and with a pleasant mustard sauce you won't be perfumed by the 'eau du garlic', or 3-4 am drunken mess dodgy souva smell searing into your pores. Jimmy grants is great for good but quick refined street style dining. read more

The fresh and succulent lamb was completely absent of any of the grease that has come to characterise the modern day souvlaki. The Mr. Papadopoulos was absolutely delightful with sweet caramelized onions, oil and chips inside the souvlaki - seriously how has no one else done that before - best idea ever! read more

Should i begin with a cliche? Words cannot describe...! It was amazing fantabulous and brilliant all at once. $10 for melt in your mouth souva with fantastic flavours, soft and fluffy pita, perfect juices and the moosatisfying $10 lunch you'll ever have. Worth the wait if there's a line. I only waited 3minutes for mine but i went during an off-peak. This is perfect if you like juicy flavourful meals, quick and easy and ever-better than whateer you'd getfrom other take away places. The emporium food court is the best! No macca's in sight. read more
