As a newly middle aged weekend warrior with a history of injury it was important to me that I partnered with trainers who would be very focused on form. I like to be pushed to continue meeting new goals, but I have no interest in bro-y, no pain no gain environments that lead to injury. Trailhead was everything I had been looking for and more. I got stronger than I'd ever been before and I was constantly encouraged to get out there and use the gains I'd earned in living a more adventurous and fulfilling life. The folks at Trailhead weren't only my trainers, they were my friends and they genuinely cared about my well-being and happiness. I've since left Bellingham and I miss my workout buddies. But I'm glad to know they're still there keeping the stoke alive and keeping people sweaty.

The main emphasis of the class is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu but we work on a lot of other martial arts as well. I was nervous the first time I went but that feeling was gone after the first class. The environment is very positive. Everybody in class is friendly and very helpful when your having trouble learning a new technique. Mr. Darrow is very patient and friendly. He breaks down every technique to the point that anybody can understand the mechanics. All in all its a great gym with a very positive environment. I would recommend this gym to anybody that is interested in learning martial arts or anybody that is looking for a fun productive way to work out.

He trains you at rotary stadium, so you get the track, the stairs/bleachers, and you bring a yoga mat for core work. He uses the poles, fences, walls, and benches and your own body weight to do your arms, and wall sits. Ya, he's a little weird, and maybe a little creepy at first, but he's kinda nice. Starting with the service, It did take me a couple weeks to get a personal trainer but they did end up reaching back to me and now I work with a trainer. They have multiple there and although I have not met everyone, the ones I have are very nice. One drawback is it's kind of difficult to cancel the membership, you have to go in person and talk to someone about it. The quality of the machines are normal, it's definitely a cardio focused area but there are plenty of strength machines and a good amount of free weights. They also have nice locker rooms, showers, and restrooms! The atmosphere is more calm and mind your business on the slower hours but during busier hours less calm. It does seem to be busy most of the time but you can still find a machine. During rush hour it does get pretty difficult to find machines. Overall I would recommend if you need a gym!
