My daughter (early twenties) had an appointment today. She is physically disabled and requires the use of a walker. I saw the door slightly open and saw my daughter's face so I immediately went to help her. I was completely shocked to see that the nurse, or anyone had not helped my daughter to get back to the lobby. She could have easily fallen trying to open the door as she also has ataxia. I spoke to the office manager but there is no excuse. This office is not handicapped accessible nor handicap friendly. I doubt that they care but we will never come back here. read more

Amanda Mayo is the most unprofessional person I have ever spoken to. Accused me of having multiple insurance policies and I don't. Would not listen to anything that was trying to be said. I have a medical issue going on and her response was, " IM CANCELLING YOUR APPOINTMENT, SORRY" Worst office I have called since living in Louisiana. I will definately spread the word about her office. Apparently Amanda is the head chief over there as she told me the doctor could not be spoken to as she makes no decisions. HA! Everytime I call the office for an appointment or with a question the receptionist always gives me an attitude. Everyone I talk to on the phone is huffing and puffing at my questions and request. The dr stayed in the room with me for a total of 10-15 minutes MAYBE. I got my IUD taken out, in hopes to get pregnant and she was just like "okay, you're good, see you later". What I was hoping to be a joyfull time and experience in my life to try to have a baby was not how I expected it. I was never told I could find the results of any of my tests online. I called and asked about finding my results , and the receptionist seemed very disgruntled that she had to take the time to send me log in information. I go into the portal and seen that the doctor actually diagnosed me with an issue that she never told me about. There was comments in the results saying that she spoke with me on how to correct these issues, but she never told me anything that she wrote in the comments. Now I have to find a new Dr while trying to get pregnant. Not only that I have symptoms of pcos, and I never knew what it was, just thought it was hormone issues with my iud. I have to get hormone tests done but I am so tired of getting treated like they not only don't care about me, but that I'm an inconvenience to them that I don't want to set foot in that office again. 0/10 I would recommend no one I know to go to this office. read more

Front desk is extremely unfriendly and they won't even acknowledge you when you walk in until their done with their personal conversations with each other. The lady who walked me into my room was wearing joggers and a T-shirt.. thought that was strange but it was even stranger when she was extremely unfriendly and I think only said a couple words to me. She came off very rude. Overall the staff is rude and the office is dirty. My last appointment with them was today and I will no longer be coming back. How hard is it to be nice and welcoming? I've never had a good experience here and I've had enough. I'll be looking for another Obgyn. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Gibson for about 4 years now. I really had no complaints. Sure the bathrooms could have been cleaned more frequently, but I didn't let it sway me. I didn't deliver my son with her because I wanted more natural options and less intervention with my delivery. So, I went to BR & delivered where there were birthing tubs & midwives available . Dr Gibson had seen me after I gave birth to my son & there was no issue. In January I had my routine check up. My pap came back abnormal so I went in again & a week later I got the news that Dr Gibson suggested that I have surgery. The leap surgery specifically. I wanted a second opinion because it didn't feel right for me to jump into a surgery. So I did just that & I came to the conclusion that I was going to make changes with my nutrition & lifestyle to try to heal my body naturally before getting a surgery. Fast forward 6 months later.... It's time to get back in office to re-evaluate my situation + I found out that I am pregnant! So I called the office to schedule something & their first priority was to find out if I was delivering with them- which my answer was no- (I am still very much interested in a low intervention pregnancy- so much so that I am considering a home birth )& the second was that they talked to Dr. Gibson & she is refusing me as a patient & suggests that I find a new provider. - the office manager said that it was because I didn't go with the surgery that Dr. Gibson suggested earlier this year. I am in disbelief. This refusal of care is ridiculous. I know that it's the combination of the two- first because I am wanting to deliver at home with a midwife. But, also because I didn't go with the surgery that she suggested. It is completely distasteful & if you want any say in your healthcare then Do Not see Dr. Gibson. read more

Let's just cut to the chase--the front desk staff is less than inviting, the waiting room and bathroom are always disgusting and have urine spilled everywhere, and god forbid you try to get a call back. I have called multiple times and they never return my call- in the past 2 weeks I have left 3 messages for the nurse for a matter that I would like addressed timely. They never called me back, but then front desk called me to get my contact info to send me a statement. So I called back and left a message with my contact info and told them that I have called 3 times and would like a call back. Dr. Gibson's office scheduled an appointment for me knowing I want my ovaries removed and will not settle for anything less. Knowing that my insurance covers removal of my ovaries because of debilitating pain repeatedly and pain with sex because of larger than normal cyst on my ovaries and family history of ovary removal for repeated debilitating pain Dr. Gibson refused to do the surgery and her office should not have scheduled my appointment and made me wait two weeks in pain to accomplish nothing. I fully expected to be leaving her office today scheduled to have my ovaries removed as there is no reason whatsoever to leave them in other than to continue providing me multiple times a year of excruciating debilitating pain. If women can have abortions then this woman should be able to get her ovaries taken out without this doctor thinking her decision not to remove my ovaries is going to make me suffer for the rest of my life with the pain. WRONG DR. GIBSON ! My ovaries will be removed from my body with or without your approval as I am not willing to suffer this excruciating pain any longer. I hope you're happy to know I called my mother who had her ovaries removed in her twenties and is looking forward to the removal of my ovaries as she believes it will resolve my biggest problem and unfortunately I had to tell her that this doctor wants me to live in misery for the rest of my life and refused to do the surgery. I have to continue calling and making appointments until I find someone else who will do it because I am not going to accept being told oh well you just have to deal with the pain that the ovaries are doing what they're supposed to do. No ma'am ovaries are not supposed to cause anyone the excruciating debilitating pain that I have hence the reason my mother's was removed in her twenties. Also FYI Dr. Jill Gibson did not test to see if my ovaries are even functioning in production of hormones as they should. I have been seeing Dr. Gibson for approximately 4 years, in the past, I've been very happy with Dr. Gibson and her staff until now. I am removing her as my doctor because of the Office Manager and the staff. The office manager was extremely rude and disrespectful to me during our conversation, to the extent that I had no choice but to hang up while she was yelling at me. My issue started last July when I went in for my yearly visit. Since I live out of the country I only have a small window of time to get my checkups, dental appointments, etc. completed. During my visit, Dr. Gibson ordered a mammogram which I agree I needed. She also proscribed a hormone for me since I'm older. I attempted to schedule the mammogram but they could not fit me in while I was in town so I had to leave without getting it. I filled my prescription with a 90-day supply with one more refill within 6 months, so when I came back to the country, I went in to fill the script. I was told that it had expired, however, when I looked at the bottle it was still within the 6 months. When I mentioned it to the pharmacy tech she said yea, it had expired that very day in their system. She said she could call the doc. and see if they will give the okay to fill it which she did but it was denied. When I called the office I was told by the nurse that since I didn't have a mammogram they would not approve the refill. I explained my situation to the nurse and said when I come back in March for a longer visit I would get one. She put me on hold and the office manager came to the line. She abruptly started to lecture me on their policy and said I did not get the ordered mammogram so they will not give me any medication. I attempted to explain my situation but she interrupted me and said she will not approve it. I asked to speak to the doc and she said no one talks to the doc unless SHE approves it!, as she proceeded to lecture me I hung up the phone. I will not be talked to by her or anyone else like that and she forgets I am paying her salary. I really like Dr. Gibson but I will not be subjected to this behavior. read more

I've only had two annual checkups with Dr. Gibson and really really really really like her! I'll save "love" after a few more checkups. In and out in such a timely manner compared to all 3 of my last obgyns in Nola. I'm done having kids so obviously the number and frequency of appointments has diminished and can't recommend in regards to prenatal care and delivery. I specifically requested to see Dr. Gibson during my visit as I had some concerns to discuss. On my visit, I was not seen by Dr. Gibson, but a medical practitioner.  She used the wrong size speculum causing me pain. After coming back with another speculum, she had issues inserting it. I moved due to pain and it came out. She stated that she probably did not get enough cells for the Pap test. My itching and dryness was not treated.  I waited two extra months to be sure to see Dr. Gibson and still did not get to see her. The visit was painful and a complete waste of time.  My issues were not addressed and I am hurting from the exam. read more

Do not use this MD. I waited 2 hours to be called back for my yearly well checkup( pap). After getting back in room my exam was so painful but she said she got enough for the pap. Well. I then receive a bill from a lab for $136 for lab work I did not authorize and there was no pap results! She billed my insurance $256 for a yearly exam which I still now need to go have it done again and fight my insurance to pay and ended up with a bill for lab work. A yearly is covered 100% by my insurance but I end up with a bill and no pap results. read more

Everyone was nice enough but it didn't feel super inviting like the welcome letter expressed their goal to be. They brought me back to the room in a timely manner and did the precheck. Then she told me to get completely undressed and put the robe on. I laid there nearly naked and waited for 20 or more minutes. Its awkward enough to have a stranger lady in your most private area, but being naked in there for so long made me even more uncomfortable. I over heard someone in the waiting room who was 6 months pregnant who had never actually met with Dr. Gibson, only her nurse practitioner. LACK OF COMMUNICATION!!! First of all it took 3 days to get in touch with the office, no one returned my voicemail. I literally had to call on repeat to get an answer on the 3rd day. I finally had an appointment scheduled this morning, I drove 45 min to get there waited an hour and was then told to leave because I wasn't on my cycle and they only insert nexplanon when you are on your cycle. I do not recommend this place at all. My daughter-in-law used this location for her 4D ultrasound. The experience was OK, but the staff was rude. My daughter chose Dr. Landry as her doctor for her first pregnancy. I have been with her to her appointments almost every time. The staff is extremely rude. Front desk and nurses. No one ever smiles and greets you. They are cold and rude and rush you. Dr Landry rushes through each appointment not taking concerns seriously. My daughter will not use this place again. We have tried to switch doctors but she is too far along in her pregnancy. I just pray they do a better job with her delivery. read more

I found Dr. Gibson not long after moving to the area. The first 7 months of my pregnancy she was great, she took time to answer all of my questions and seemed very kind. I had extreme "morning" sickness that lasted all day all 9months of my preganancy. I attempted the glucose test multiple times and could never finish the drink before becoming sick. Her office was made aware immediately each time. I went for an appointment around 8months pregnant and she asked for my glucose results and then says since she didn't have them I'd have to sign saying I refused to take the test. (I tried 3 times and couldn't complete it) she then tells me I can take the test or pay out of pocket for a nutritionist since she believes I might have gestational diabetes. I go for my appointment 2 weeks before my due date and I ask about my sudden swelling and extreme acid reflux and she releases me to go home. As I'm walking out the door she stops my husband and I and calls us back to a desk in the hallway (so no privacy) and says "change of plans you need to go to the hospital now" she proceeds to inform me that the hospital I'd chosen and taken classes at and is about a mile from her office is on divergent. So here I go under her "emergency" guidance to a hospital I'd never stepped foot into. She comes in the next morning and says I'm precalmsic and need to deliver within 48hrs. She then starts me on medicine to start my labor and that night after 12hrs with no epi or pain meds decides to stop my labor after my water breaking that night. I then labored for two more days my nurses struggled to get in contact with her and all vital signs showed my baby and I were in distress. By day 3 of labor with the help of my wonderful nurses my child was born. Dr. Gibson had been in the hallway but wasn't even completely scrubbed up when I delivered because she waited so long to come in. At this point my epidural had worn off and with her not being there in time to do an episiotomy I had a severe tear. She proceeds to stitch me up while I scream from pain worse than delivery and she looks up at me and says "you need to suck it up because I don't believe in all that pain med stuff" I have 3 other witness and a room full of nurses who proceeded to get the anesthesiologist for me who heard her say this. After 30/45 min of the worst pain in my life she's gone she didn't say bye, congratulations... nothing just walks out of the room. She doesn't return the rest of my hospital stay to check on me or my stitches nor does she inform anyone she has a patient to check on. When they go discharge me they had to get the on call doctor because she was nowhere to be found. I called and was never able to set up my postpartum appointment. In my opinion unless you want the worst and longest labor and delivery experience of your life don't use her. So much for the emergency and 48hr rule. I usually don't post negative reviews but no one should have to experience what I went through. read more

Absolutely disgusted with this office. I had an appointment today, showed up a little early to get signed in and was turned away because I had my son. Apparently no kids allowed right now, nobody disclosed this to me before hand. It's an hour drive for me & my husband works out of town so I had no one to keep my son. I told them this, And the male receptionist comes back with "you'll just have to figure it out". I was being seen for what I thought was an infection, asked if they could still do the urine sample and was told no. I tried to reschedule and he just kept looking at his computer screen with no concern with helping me. I told him I would call back to reschedule where he replied with "yeah you do that". I was in tears leaving because I needed to have this checked out & he showed no concern. I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy. The rudest receptionist I've ever encountered. This is probably the worst physician's office I've ever been to. The staff is rude and incompetent. The guy at the front desk is so clearly not trained in customer service. For example, after I left a voicemail stating my cell phone number twice, he still called the wrong number and had a terrible attitude when I called back. I have never had an experience at a doctors office as bad as the one I had here. I work in the medical field and the way I was treated is NOT acceptable. I have heard great things about Dr. Gibson, is why I picked her to go to for my first pregnancy. But I have been having problems which I discussed with her nurse practitioner since I was unable to get an appointment with Dr. Gibson for weeks from now I decided to see her nurse practitioner, no big deal, right? Yeah I was totally wrong. Like I mentioned earlier this is my first pregnancy and she made me feel absolutely horrible about myself, all because my home tests were all negative I have not had a period in two months and I have every single first trimester symptom, I explained to her that I feel pregnant and it is very possible for my HCG hormones to be low and undetectable on a urine test, she then basically told me that i was wrong. And refused to administer an ultrasound (which I feel should be mandatory at this point especially if the patient is asking for it) I am 14 weeks and she told me without ANY sort of test that I was not pregnant and proceeded to prescribe me birth control, before administering a urine test or blood work. I left in tears because I am now going on week 15 and I have no idea if I should be planning for a baby or not. I will NEVER ever trust that nurse with the health of me and my child. I am pretty sure her name was Beth after looking online at Dr. Gibson's Mandeville office, everyone had masks on so I can't be sure but she is the only nurse practitioner with blonde hair. Everyone else at the office was pleasant. That's the only good thing I can say honestly. read more

Pro: Beautiful interior office, Pleasant Dr. Gibson, Simple paperwork Cons: Scheduling/Front Desk Staff (especially the guy at the front) is terrible- Called me back about 4 times about scheduling, changes, prices, and even then it took over a month to get my initial appointment; when I came in, they began the bullying. Minor example that was frustrating from the second I walked in. "You need to do a urine test," the guy demands. I've not even filled out new patient papers yet, so I ask why. He looks around like he's about to tell a racist joke and says, "to see if you're pregnant." Um, "seeing if I'm pregnant" before seeing the doctor when my baby bump sticks out and baby is Squirming and I'd like to meet the doctor before deciding to be treated by them? I KNEW I was pregnant with 3 tests to confirm. This was obtuse and unnecessary, just a cash grubbing way to get my insurance to pay out. It could have been different if he requesting nicely, explained they wanted preliminary protein tests, etc, to ensure healthiness of child/me/my pregnancy so that the doctor had a baseline, etc, but obviously he wasn't in the business of customer care and didn't have an educational background in medical. He's just the messenger and knows the policies without knowing why it's done or how to use good manners- as I later discovered, this was most of the support staff. Ultra Sound Tech- Pleasant and informed. She said she was looking for markers for genetic and developmental deformities and began the exam. However, we had been asking NOT to know baby's gender and she put babies vulva up on screen and marked it "GIRL" without explaining what she was doing, looking for, or talking to us first about our preferences. Then she proceeded to misinform us about certain safety aspects of such procedures. I have a degree, I studied advanced college courses in Neuroscience, I knew better and it is unethical to lie to a patient about such things. I informed her I knew otherwise and she admitted there were parameters to those safety aspects, but said I shouldn't worry about it, she'd "Try" to stay within them. I followed up with my credentials that extended beyond hers and made clear our preferences based on safety. She clammed up the rest of the time and declined to give us photos from the ultra sound. (I was still a pregnant woman- really wanted to have these photos, especially for a second opinion on development of this baby since this lady wasn't forthcoming) Dr. Gibson: Absolutely wonderful. Very pleasant, informed, open to patient centered care (where the care provided is geared towards patient needs and preferences). Willing to explain why policies were in place (for insurance purposes) and happy to adjust as needed with request within safety guidelines. (Everything I'd want from any provider) Following up: Two weeks later I requested my results from the pap smear, blood tests, and a copy of all medical records including ultrasound. Was told pap was ok and that a nurse would call me. One week later, requested my results from the remaining tests and copies of all medical records including ultrasound. Was told a nurse and the tech would call me. I reminded them this was my 2nd request. They said they don't usually release information to clients, but usually to other physicians- someone would call me. (I have patient rights that they ignored here). The tech called me and said that I could come by right then to pic up the documents from the ultrasound. I swing by, the office is "closed" but the door is open. I walk up to the desk and the guy hands me a strip of blurry ultra sound photos. (DID NOT CHECK ID OR SAY ONE WORD TO ME!!!). I left. They aren't going to protect identity, release my records, treat us well. I've heard great things about Dr. Gibson- I really wanted to have her. Last pregnancy I was sweet and docile and happy to work as a team with my care providers- but the staff is a deal breaker and they were quite upsetting for the record. Nobody there seemed to care. I've heard awful things from others as well, but this small town has very few options so I thought I'd check it out. Not worth it. It's been almost a month- maybe that nurse will finally call and help me get my medical records. HA! I'll put it in writing and try again. read more
