This is a gelato chain with branches throughout Spain.
There may be artisanal gelato places in Barcelona that are better than this -
or even other competing chains that are equally as good.
However, in my opinion, Jinonenca is pretty damm fine.
The star of the show was a cheesecake ice cream.
This gelato was actually fermented.
It tasted strong and cheesy the way an uncompromising cheesecake can taste
when the cook is not making a bland little kid dessert.
My first thought was "This is odd".
Then once I "got it" I loved it.
The pistachio in the rest of my bowl was strong and quite worthwhile.
But I don't think I have ever had anything like the cheesecake gelato. read more
