Even though my dealership in Wayne, NJ offers free oil changes, it's too far to be practical for regular service, so I've relied on this Valvoline for the convenience. The team is friendly, and the service is quick, which I appreciate. But as far as I can tell from tracking my visits, after the same issues happening three times in a row, I can't trust that I'm getting the full service I'm paying for -- and I won't be going back. The first thing I noticed was that my oil changes felt too frequent. When I checked my credit card statements, I saw I was getting oil changes way more often than I should. My car takes full synthetic oil, which should last about 7,500 miles, but each time, they set the return sticker at just 2,500 miles -- that's 5,000 miles early. When I asked about it, the attendant said it's their way of helping customers "avoid going over." But without telling me they were doing that, it just caused me to get unnecessary oil changes and spend more money. Then there's the tire pressure check, which is supposed to be included. On each of my last three visits, I went in with the tire pressure light on, and was told it would turn off after driving. It didn't. When I checked the tires myself, some were as much as 20 psi under. Clearly, they weren't checked or filled -- even though I was told they were. I don't mind putting air in my own tires, but I do mind being told something was done when it wasn't. And I really don't appreciate being guided into oil changes thousands of miles earlier than my vehicle requires. This location has been convenient, and the staff is polite and fast -- but trust matters more. After three bad experiences in a row, I've decided I'm done with this location

Price was very competitive especially with Firestone offers. One negative thing is after picking up the car driving home it was pulling severely to the right. Drove it right back and they had to redo the alignment. I don't think they drove it after the first alignment. But overall good experience.

When I arrived at the store, Kyle was at the front desk and talked me into doing Wheel alignment for another $200. I was told the work will be done in the anticipated time like around 4:30-4:40. My car was not taken inside the garage until 4 pm and Kyle returned my keys stating the job cannot be completed by 4:30. His attitude was rude and unfriendly from the very beginning which is not expected in a service industry. In the past I had nice and pleasant customer service experience at the same location.

Drove out and back because there was a rattling noise. Completely free lug nut that wasn't put back on was getting banged around in my wheel. 2nd time there, I figured I go back again because it's close by to get an oil change and I needed one. Dropped off the car to be done the next day, asked if my tires needed to be rotated. I said no since it wasn't free of charge. My other mechanic does it for free. They call to let me know my air and cabin filters are dirty next day. They let me know the prices, so I said no problem and put new ones in. I go in to pay and I notice windshield wiper fluid being added to my bill. Granted it's only 4 bucks, but I have windshield wiper fluid at home and so does nearly everyone else. That 4 dollars adds up when you think of other customers getting an oil change. I asked for an oil change not my windshield wiper fluid to be filled. It wasn't even low since my light didn't go on. Instead of offering to take it off the bill since I never authorized it, they simply said it's part of their service to inspect other fluids and to remind them next time not to do it. If it was transmission fluid that needed to be drained, I'd hope they'd let me know before they put that on the bill. I've never been charged for filling up windshield wiper fluid as part of an oil change at any other car shop. To top it off, I drove out of there with my right front tire pretty low on air (24 psi) and my tire pressure sensor going off. So they didn't go out of their way to check that when I would've appreciated it more than windshield wiper fluid. If I'm paying a sizeable amount of money to get car maintenance, I want it to be a thorough job and I was disappointed in both of my experiences here.

I had been making friendly conversation about how the business was going, and D---en had explained margins were thinning compared to the past, and i asked him why and he explained about costco & youtube and were making it harder to be a mechanic, and somewhere in his frustrated rant he said to me me "You're the worst type of customer" I repeat, he called me "The worse type of customer", and continued to explain what was frustrating him about the challenges of small time mechanics remain profitable. Hey, at least I was a customer, I'm not sure I will be in the future. Now, him and his squad fixed my car up good, checked the brakes, and investigated a check engine light and i was satisfied with the quality of service, definitely. I've been meaning to find a new mechanic and eventually did, and am glad that I made the move. What really was the straw that broke the camels back was that on my last visit they said my rotors were low and recommended a replacement (that was not cheap). I was actually pretty surprised by this as I had replaced my rotors (with them) earlier and I expected to get more miles out of them. So either: 1. they sold me poor quality rotors 2. I'm tracking my car and being aggressive on the brakes (nope...its a minivan) 3. I don't actually need rotors Turns out it was #3... I actually got the car up on jack stands after bringing it home, took off the wheels and measured the rotors with a pair of calipers. Plenty of life left.
