It's not a repair shop so there's less likelihood that they will try to find something extra to charge you for and you don't have to drop off your vehicle and pick it up later. With that being said I had issues both times I brought my vehicle there for inspection. The last time was this week and Erick failed my vehicle for grooves in one of my rotors that were VERY minor and also for what he claimed were rips in my wiper blades. The blades were only a year old and they are premium Bosch blades that have no material to rip. They worked fine and I'm confident he never tried them. The NYS Inpsection criteria (section 79.21) states "Inspect disc for any distortion or scoring that would impare braking system". This minor groove would do nothing but increase the braking surface. When I challenged Erick on this point, he quickly reiterated what the inspector from my last visit said. His answer was basically that VIOC has to be very strict when interpreting the inspection guidelines because they're not a repair shop so it doesn't look good if they don't fail inspections and they might get a $10,000 fine and/or lose their inspection license. I believe I fell into the category of required failures. To be completely fair, my parking brake didn't work well enough which should have been the only reason for a failed inspection. As far as service goes; we spent 3 hours waiting the first visit and then when we returned the next day we arrived before they opened and it still took 2-1/2 hours. Definitely will not patronize them again. Hope this helps someone.

Immediately after getting it we could tell all tires were imbalanced and today my father, who doesn't have formal training in the mechanic field, had to personally rebalance EVERY tire and in the process found 2 broken off tires pressure sensors. This shop charges us $600 and didn't even do the job right. This is the first time we've brought a vehicle to get fixed by an auto mechanic shop and we will NEVER again bring a vehicle anywhere else. Your workers suck, and I will personally trash your auto mechanics shop whenever someone asks what good shops are around.
