I really enjoyed the fish cakes with some sweet chilli sauce. We then had the sea bass and scallops that night for dinner. All nice grub. It appears to be the closest fishmongers to where we live. But it all comes down to quality. The fish in this place is great and they have a great variety. Swordfish and red mullets are quite difficult to find in Dublin and coming from Sicily I was seriously missing eating these types of fish. The people working in here are amazing! They always clean the fish thoroughly and they are super polite and friendly. I keep recommending this place to everybody.

There's no place in Dublin like the Moore Street Market. It's known throughout the country for…read moreselling traditional Irish food and also for its no-nonsense merchants. You could easily spend your day wandering from stall to stall, from top to bottom taking in the scene. Whether you're looking for flowers, fish, fruits or veg, come to the market and get a deal. But be careful of the merchants who insist on picking the fruit for you! I once came home with over 20 rotten bananas and several squashed kiwis. Even though I only paid something like 3 Euro, I was disappointed because I had to throw most of the fruit out. A friend of mine swears that the market's fishmonger is the best and told me to buy oysters from him so I guess there are good and bad stalls. Even if you don't actually need to buy anything, I suggest you saunter down this street. The funny things that I have overheard from these Dubs could fill the pages of a book.

We were running out of time on our hunt to find them when I realized, 'I've got my trusty guidebook!!' And that's how we ended up here. It was 12 Euros for 6 oysters and a glass of wine. Since there were four of us, the lady was nice enough to give us 4 cups of wine (yes, plastic cups - it's a farmer's market, what do you expect!) They even threw in an extra oyster! SO FRESH! SO BIG! (cue that's-what-she-said joke). Compared to NYC oysters, these babies looked like they were on steroids! They also have this dipping sauce (had onions and was really vinegar-y, but good. But if you don't like the sour, you should just take the oyster straight.) Didn't eat anything else from other stands because we just had lunch. However, I believe they had shish kebabs, crepes, and bread. Oh and FYI - Sheridans Cheesemongers was there (saw this place on Anthony Bourdain when he went to Dublin so thought this might be worth mentioning). Definitely check out this farmer's market!

There is a big selection of potted flowers, herbs and other plants. Italian pesto and other sauces, fresh fish and pork. Coffee and juice, crepes, organic cleaning products etc. The highlight here for me is the pastry and the pies! The pie man has a booth here and they truly are the best pies I've ever had, nice selection of chicken, beef, veg, so much flavor. Big pie that is enough to fill you up, just 5€ (heated up for 6€) The pastry is also fab, lots of tarts, Danish, croissants, cookies, brownies, bread and more. All of which are delicious. Big enclosed venue (next to Teeling), so it's weather proof, and you can even bring your dog inside! Lots of friendly vendors and delicious food and drink. So lucky to have this place so close to home, it's now our Saturday tradition to get coffee and pastry, and pies to take home. There's a seating area if you want to eat in, too. Definitely worth stopping by, it's quite a market!
