For the past two years, we've worked with her remotely after moving a few hours away. Unfortunately, this year was a completely different experience. Despite reaching out over a month before the tax deadline and providing all requested documents, nothing on our file was completed or even reviewed. Given that our returns are very similar year to year, this should have been a straightforward, turn-key process of updating numbers. Instead, we were repeatedly told our file was being worked on when it clearly was not. Her office also does not provide a secure portal or method for sending documents, so we created our own secure Google Drive to share everything. Based on activity, it appeared the documents were never even accessed, which prompted our patient but repeated check-ins, along with periodic emails that were ignored and never replied to. If email communication is not a strong suit, a phone call would have been appreciated--but we never received one and always had to initiate contact ourselves. During one of those calls, we even asked if we should come in person, and were assured it was not necessary and that she regularly handles remote clients. As the deadline approached, we were told an extension would be filed due to timing and the lack of completion due to how overwhelmed they were, however no one reached out to tell us this, we assumed ours would be completed on time. On April 14th, after being on hold for over 30 minutes, Sue finally told us the day before deadline that she was filing the extension while on the phone, collected our personal and banking information, and said she would confirm once it was submitted. That confirmation never came. The following morning (tax deadline), we called to follow up since we had not heard from her as promised. During that call, her admin staff placed my spouse on hold to check with Sue on the status of the extension. While on hold, the line was not muted and we overheard Sue say, "those effing people are a pain in my a**," clearly referring to us. When she came on the phone moments later, her tone was completely different. We were honestly shocked and confused--especially since we had simply been trying to confirm whether our extension had actually been filed after not receiving the promised confirmation the day before tax deadline. She then acted as if she didn't even know we had spoken the day before and told us we were simply on her "extension list." No extension had been filed, and no payment had been processed. On tax deadline, my spouse and I had to take it in our own hands and call the IRS to request the extension and give a best guess payment. Communication throughout this process with Best Team Tax was extremely poor. Emails went unanswered, calls were not returned, and we had to repeatedly follow up just to get vague or inconsistent updates. Staff were polite but unable to provide clear or accurate information. We are genuinely surprised by this experience, given how positive prior years have been. However, due to the lack of communication, follow-through with completing what we were told was being done, and lack of professionalism (cussing in the background, etc) we will no longer be using or recommending these services. Respectfully, we were once happy clients but after this year we are done and now are left to find someone else to do them for us at the last minute. We would have preferred transparency up front, if you didn't have the time or ability to complete.

    Major Issues: Poor communication and errors in tax preparation…read more We went to Katrina for our 2022 taxes, which went fine, we also went to her for a couple amendments. She informed us it would only be a couple weeks to complete the amendments, it wasn't until several months later that the amendments were completed. During those months I followed up with Katrina numerous times and most of the time did not receive a response. I had to email, call and text several times to get a response each time I reached out. It was also difficult getting her to answer all the questions that were asked of her. After all that time, we finally submitted the amendments, and it turns out the State taxes were calculated incorrectly, and we had overpaid which caused additional headaches and stress. I haven't heard back from Federal yet, but I'll update this review if I do. I would not recommend this tax preparation business to anyone.

    Beware!!! Do not hire K2 Services, Inc., or Katrina to do your taxes…read more I contacted Katrina via Facebook; I wish I had done more research before hiring her. Here is what happened - Our paperwork was delivered to Katrina's office on 03/09/2022. On 03/09, I requested information as to when my taxes were going to be filed; I reminded them that taxes where due on 03/15. On 03/09, I received a text saying that Katrina was going to try her hardest, that I would know more after the weekend. On 03/14, I sent a text to follow-up, in which they responded, "Unfortunately we will have to file an extension for you as our tax software is doing an unscheduled maintenance." I followed up on 03/30 (no reply), 04/12 followed up again in which they responded, "An extension was filed since taxes were due on 03/15 (which I already know, because I told them since the beginning). I continued to follow up 04/15, 05/06 no reply until 05/10 when they said that my taxes were in process, but Katrina was out of the office in recovery due to a surgery. Once again, they confirmed that an extension was filed. On 05/18, I texted them demanding information about my taxes (I have never filed my taxes this late in the year). 06/12, I send them an email (no reply), 07/01 (no reply), and 07/12 (still no reply). It was not until 07/26 when they requested copies of my daughter and I's driver license. On 07/27, I was finally given an appointment to come to their office to sign Tax returns and to pay their invoice of $1,390. To make the story short, in August/September 2022 my daughter received penalties and interest from the IRS totaling $600 and I on the other hand received penalties and interest totaling $1,907(between Federal & State). The IRS sent me stamped copies showing that they received the request for extension on 04/26/202,2 which confirms my suspicion that they never send our request of extension on time. I contacted Katrina via email, she didn't have a clean answer as to why this happened and said that they filed on time. I have not received any additional communication from them as of today. My daughter and I had to pay for penalties in full.
