Not surprisingly, my buyers had concerns. I needed someone with the requisite professional skills and experience to come and take a look and deliver an opinion. I couldn't get up there, and had just had a terrible experience where Lowe (another plumber) really took advantage of her, and I didn't know who to call. An electrician in Kingston that I'd worked with before recommended Carl without hesitation. Carl managed to squeeze her in within 2 hours, replaced the leaking connections and contacted Central Hud to turn the gas back on so he could check the boiler, and his charges were VERY reasonable even for a scheduled visit, nevermind an emergency call. By the time cent. Hud. got the gas back on it was 6:30pm on a Friday night and Carl came back. He figured out it was a problem with the control unit, but also noticed the boiler was only 3 years old. This is the great part.. rather than saying "I'll be back on Monday with the parts to fix it" he told Rosie it should still be under warranty and gave her advice on how to go about getting warranty service- and didn't charge her for the return visit/diagnostic. It's so honorable it's almost absurd the way he put his client's best interests above his own. Carl is a stand-up guy with great service, fast response times, quick expert work (which = great pricing), and a heart of gold. I trust him completely to take care of my grandma, I can think of no higher compliment.

I'm sharing my personal experience with RJ General Contracting LLC of Saugerties, NY during a home…read morerenovation. This reflects what I observed, what I documented, and what independent professionals later communicated to me. I paid in full upfront for a complete electrical upgrade and new window installation, which I now regret. I expected the project to follow the schedule in our signed contract, but it did not. It has now been over a year. Workers who were present early on became less present over time. The contractor states his crew was on site full‑time, but that did not match what I personally observed or what neighbors reported. Communication became inconsistent, deadlines were missed, and progress slowed significantly. Because of ongoing delays and work that licensed professionals later described as deficient, I ended the contract. The contractor says he was not given time to finish, but my documentation reflects many delays and reassurances over a 10‑month period. Independent inspectors and engineers identified issues with window installation, electrical work, and structural elements. Their written reports suggest that several items require revision to meet safety and code standards. This is particularly important to me, my family, and guests who will be staying there. It was onlly after termination that I received change orders. They were not accompanied by the detailed invoices I had been requesting for months. The contractor has still not provided supporting documentation, and it has been well over a year. In my opinion, and based on conversations with other professionals and their written reports, the amounts listed are extremely high, exaggerated and inconsistent with the work completed. A substantial amount of work remains unfinished or needs revision. I've attached communication and documents related to my experience so others can review the information directly and form their own conclusions. For clarity, the contract ended due to repeated delays, missed contractual deadlines, and work that inspectors and other licensed professionals documented as not meeting code requirements. These findings were especially concerning to me because my family and guests will be staying in the home. The contractor maintains he was not given time to finish. My records show many delays and reassurances throughout the project, and significant work remains incomplete. From my perspective, he was given multiple opportunities to complete the work that had been paid for in full 10 months ago, specifically the electrical upgrade and full window installation. I'm sharing my experience so others can make informed decisions. In my opinion, it's important to research contractors thoroughly, check references, and be cautious with large upfront payments.

They were professional and very knowledgeable during the initial visit to evaluate our problems and existing various tanks, pumps, softeners, etc. I also called a competitor as good practice for comparison quote. Claverack followed up with a quote that was not only less expensive but also much more complete with product data, water analysis and pricing with the scope of work to be provided. I immediately signed up and took the day off to be at the house when they arrived. Bob and Adam were great to work with as they removed all old equipment (5 tanks, chlorinator and softener) and replaced with 1 air injection unit to remove the sulphur. We learned from their water analysis that the other units were not required for our water although being sold those products previously - requiring chlorine and salt on a regular basis. Removing all the old equipment regaining valuable space in our boiler room and eliminated the need to lug bags of salt and chlorine buckets - not to mention saving this ongoing cost. After putting the units into service, the guys walked us through the program and explained with the air system we have little or no maintenance. I noted that I would call them for a yearly inspection although we were shown the unit will notify us of that when due, Our water is finally what is should have been all along - no sulphur, spurting faucets, and constant need for chemicals and salt. We could not be happier with the transformation - our only regret is that we didn't "shop locally" sooner. If you have similar well water problems, or any related issues, we HIGHLY recommend Claverack Pump for your treatment. Thank you to all that helped us clean up our well water.

We were invoiced for work that was never performed and parts that were never installed. When I challenged these charges, customer service repeatedly refused to acknowledge the discrepancies. Only after I provided photographic evidence contradicting their claims did they reduce the invoice. What I found most troubling was not the original billing error, which could have been an honest mistake, but the company's persistent refusal to acknowledge it. Despite multiple emails over several months, they never accepted responsibility or offered a straightforward explanation or apology. **Mistakes happen. Integrity is demonstrated by how a company responds when those mistakes are brought to its attention.** In this case, the response demonstrated a disturbing lack of accountability and transparency. Based on my experience, I consider their business practices unethical. I would not trust this company with future work, nor would I recommend them to anyone.
