I feel like I am in good hands with Darrin and all of the Wildhorse employees. I started going to Wildhorse for tax prep in 2014 when I first moved to the KC area. I found Wildhorse on google maps when I was searching for a tax preparer near my work. I never looked back. Darrin took great care of me and gave solid advice over the years, beginning when I worked in food service, to when I got my first office job, got married, went back to school, and beyond. Now, Wildhorse has grown and I have had very good experiences with all the staff and professionals I interacted with. This year, I dealt primarily with John who gave great service. 10/10 recommend.

All Good Tax Pro for my 2024 tax return, and unfortunately my experience was quite disappointing…read more What was promised / my expectations:I was told I would receive thorough guidance, timely submission of my return, clear communication, and a finalized set of calculations for my refund, they never filed my State, both Kansas and Missouri. What actually happened:* My preparer missed several items for example: They never filed either of my state taxes.* Despite agreeing to finish by February, the paperwork was delayed, and I had to follow up repeatedly.* Communication was unclear: I received vague answers to my questions, and at one point was told "it's done" when it clearly wasn't .* Because of the delay/errors, I faced extra stress (and possibly extra cost) when dealing with the [IRS/State tax agency]. Why this matters:When you use a professional tax preparer, you expect accuracy, timeliness, and trust. My experience failed onall three. I ended up spending more of my own time (and worry) trying to correct or clarify things that I had hoped would be handled properly. What should change / what I suggest:* Better double‑checking of forms and calculations before the client signs off.* More transparent communication: if there is a delay or a problem, it should be communicated proactively.* A clear checklist shared with the client so both sides know exactly what documents are needed, what has been done, and what is still pending. Only charging what we agreed on, and not changing the amount for filling, that never happened.

We also experienced penalties and additional stress due to mistakes that we felt should have been avoided. We had hoped for a more professional and proactive experience. Unfortunately, we ended up needing to seek help elsewhere to get our records cleaned up and organized.

Please focus on you and your staff's attention to detail and customer service…read more This year, our taxes were prepared incorrectly twice, the first time rejected by the IRS and the second time with a gross error caught by us: completely leaving off one person's income. Further, we went weeks without communication and had to initiate follow-up several times, which is frustrating when turning to human tax professionals for support. Finally, to top off the blatant disregard for customer relationships, we were denied a meeting to discuss our concerns and request for a refund due to all of the challenges and poor services rendered. I'm disappointed in our experience this year and sad to have to take my business elsewhere.
