I'm done with the Jewel at 94& Pulaski in Oak Lawn IL. They've got some very nice employees but many are just plain miserable and prefer to sit outside smoking. The manager walks around literally screaming at employees and embarrassing them. Some weeks back, HE knocked over something near the bakery and started swearing up a blue streak. This poor older woman grabbed her pearls out of fear. Today was my VERY LAST time dealing with these people. If I MUST go to Jewel ever again, I'll go to 103rd and Cicero. I'm done! read more

Hello, The store was clean ,strawberries looked very dry as well as the the vines on the grapes, I no longer buy ANY fruit from this Jewel anymore because of that. Also, on 9/11/2023 I noticed a woman of color waiting at the service desk , she waiting for like five minutes ( from 9:10-9:15a) before someone came to help her. The cashier working at self check out saw her standing at the CSD yet she did not ask her did she need any help nor did she call anyone to the CSD to assist the woman. The store was not busy at all so why the poor customer service for the woman waiting at the CSD ? read more

This location is significantly better than the 103rd and Kedzie location. The location is obviously larger and has a better and diverse selection. You can almost always expect a large amount of fresh cooked chicken. To be honest the chicken is the only prepared hot food I get because it's freaking delicious. Occasionally they have a wing special on game days and it's a great deal. Their taco dips are always fantastic. Their desserts more specifically the fresh baked cookies are amazing. Everyone has always been very helpful when I've shopped and even though there are 4 grocery stores closer we regularly go here. read more

Actually quite impressed with this location. Although it is not my neighborhood Jewel (Don't you hate it when they says JEWEL'S). This one is really nice and upgraded which unlike some others, they are antiquated. But I digress, now where was I? Anywho I think that many of the Jewel Food Chains need to learn proper display for all to see, not just stuff things together for the sake of selling. Even the cashiers here were just so pleasent as well as the bag boys (Is that PC to say), were very nice. I would definitely come back and shop here, why not. Its nice when the store looks the way this one does. Although it is a bad case of laziness on the part of Management when there is so many cashiers and only 2 are open and it is quite busy. Right now I would love to just review the pharmacy. I'd have to say I have used quite a few different pharmacies in my 64 years. But this pharmacy is top notch! Mainly because of Nick the pharmacist. He has gone out of his way to call my Dr if he has a question or concern I have a regular script I get filled every 2 weeks on a Wednesday and he is always very helpful and considerate! I have delt with the public my whole life and it is not an easy task at times! But the whole staff is very patient and efficient! Thanks to the whole staff but Nick, thank you most of all! read more

Horrible customer service ....store itself is great ...but when the app gives you coupons but the Regsiter doesn't take them off, I pointed it out to the cashier. She then called over the manager BJ ....he's no help at all and doesn't even listen to the problem but instead says the computer must be correct w a smirk on his face. After a few minutes of trying to explain the receipt screen to the him and the cashier, and listening to his no help answer (since he still wasn't even taking the time to listen to me explain), I told him he was being highly condescending ...but he wants to disagree and go back and forth about it instead. I have always liked that this store was quiet and opened very early, so, when they discontinued the self-checkout lanes, it was annoying but not a deal breaker, And previously, they always carried a broad fat-free milk and f/f cheese selections, but now they have stopped selling the fat-free cream cheese and fat-free slices, so it seems as if the store is going down instead of up with quality of selection/s available... -- .. But with the problems at the Kroger/Mariano's stores, Jewel is now pretty even with them in terms of options, and now I am torn as to whether to go back to Jewel or bite the budget and go back to Whole Foods. The next available delivery time was after noon the next day. Sorry, but that does not seem reasonable to me. I did not place the order. This has to be one of the worst managed Jewels in the area. While bagging my groceries, the bagger oddly and randomly started a conversation with us about a recent story in the news. I was unfamiliar with it, so she persistently, almost desperately tried to explain it to me. Apparently an orphanage associated with brown people had been robbed or vandalized or something like that. Then: Her: "Well somebody sure don't like the Ni-" I raised my eyebrows. Her: "The Ni-" The cashier looked down at my crackers (and other assorted groceries) in disbelief... Her: "The ne-" You could almost hear the gerbils cranking around in this poor woman's head... Her: "Well somebody sure don't like you people very much. You know, sure don't..." The cashier looked like she was going to die. Like she wanted to know where the Easy Button was. My grocery bagger was trying to call me some shit that would get my Yelp review pulled - now that's harsh. It was almost amusing and just about funny, the whole situation of it and all. This has to be the worst Jewels ever. Their pharmacy is even worse. They changed times so no longer 24 hours. Not to add when going to the pharmacy staff is very rude & move super slow, you are basically in a free cheese line. I find it interesting that they only have 2 workers & 2 cash registers to check people out but only one is always used which causes the longest line. I also had a terrible experience there trying to get medicine for my relative who is a diabetic & was never informed that the pharmacy is no longer 24 hours & I came 2 minutes after closing time. The pharmacy refused to serve me after I explained this person is a diabetic & have no more medicine left. I had to go call the manager for them to actually act like they cared. This place has officially became the pits & should just close down. Worst customer service ever!! read more

This is the closest store to my house so I come here often. Not anymore. I've never been told that I can't purchase something because someone is on break. I've always had issues with their meat department. I have never gone to the meat counter and not had to wait awhile to be noticed and helped. Today I stood there for a good 5 minutes and the guy in the back never acknowledged me. It wasn't until another employee walked by and told me that the person working the meat counter was on break and wouldn't be back for at least another 15 minutes. So you're telling me with all these employees there's only 1 person that can package meat? I buy filet mignon and salmon on a regular basis. Because this is the last thing I get I wasn't going to stand there for 15 minutes and wait. I went down the street to Marianos and will continue to just go there from now on. read more

A couple of months ago I would have given them 5 stars but ever since they got rid of the self checkout area I can no longer stand going. How can you spend 30 mins+ in line for 1 item? It doesn't make it any better that Target across the parking lot added the self checkout area as Jewel was getting rid of them. This store is only great due to the hours they are open. I have to give this Jewel five stars because of the fruit, lunchmeat, and overall selection. I have some complaints (see below), but overall, this is where I like to purchase groceries. Let me put it this way: This Jewel has the best apples on the South Side. I've had apples from the other grocery stores on 95th Street, and they not only taste funny, but also go bad within two or three days. I've never, ever had that problem at Jewel. The oranges, grapes, and blueberries are also always fresh. They're actually better than the produce store just down the road. Seriously, this is a big deal; I've gone to all of the other grocery stores in the area (Oak Lawn, Evergreen Park, Beverly), and none of them have fruit that tastes as good as Jewel's. The lunchmeat is also supoib. (Sorry, I grew up in Brooklyn.) This particular Jewel is significantly better than the other one in the area. It has much more of a selection (of everything) than the store on 103rd and Kedzie. Caveats: I'm almost 45 (but I still crank up Nirvana when they are on the radio, so be assured that I have not shed any of my youthful coolness; in fact, if you ever want to just kind of hang out and listen to some tunes and pretend like it's 1991, let me know--I'll bring the lighter, the wet towel, and the eye drops), but sometimes I am the youngest customer in this store by three generations. I'm serious. Half the customers pull up in Conestoga wagons. The preferred topic of small talk while waiting for your fresh kidney bean salad is the Depression. And this being Chicago, a place where old racial hostilities die hard, I do hear snippets of racism--against Indians. Old people dominate this store. So why does this matter? Well . . . it's just that if you're the kind of early-middle-aged guy or gal who likes a little eye candy whilst you're shopping, and furthermore if you're the kind of early-middle-aged guy or gal who is attracted to people five or so years older or younger than you are, then maybe you better focus on shopping and shopping alone while you are here. The place has great food, but few fringe benefits. Just sayin'. On the other hand, it's a relief to know that I am not being objectified. This is going to sound conceited, and I don't mean to sound that way at all--in fact, I hesitate to say it, but I want to make this point because I really think that this Jewel is the one you should go to--but I'm extremely attractive. Physically. All my life, I've had people eyeball me anywhere I went. At first, it was flattering, and I enjoyed all the attention and dates and threesomes and stuff like that. But later, I wanted to be known for my other pursuits, like my pirated mp3 collection and the JV Bowling letters I won in high school. Ya know? I'm more than just a physique. It gets tiring, man. But here, in this Jewel, I've found a little piece of heaven. No one here cares about attractiveness (mine or theirs). No one cares. You wanna know what I found here? You really wanna know? Freedom. I found freedom. I also like how I don't have to hide my Just For Men products from the other customers. I do shove these products deep into the cart to keep their existence from my own consciousness, but I can't blame Jewel for that. I also feel loyalty to Jewel, having gone to Jewels (please note that the "s" indicates plurality only; I do not pronounce "Jewel" as "Jewels") all my life. I know what to expect. And I can't stand the Walmartization of America. In an effort to save money, they have obviously cut down on the number of people they have working at the registers, and that's a drag. It really is. I feel bad for the few people who do work the registers; they have to deal with frustrated customers. Make sure not to take it out on them. This is a good store. read more

I come to this location every now and then, but what is kind of annoying is that sometimes the lines can be too long. I do like the new look of Jewel and trying to keep up with the times to make their store attractive to customers. I like how the store is clean and well maintained some of the Jewel locations I've been to their bathrooms were nasty and gross. I only gave this location four stars because I was impressed with the asthetics of the store. I am glad that the employees are not hoodrats and are actually pretty decent. I've been to other locations where the idiots spent more time talking than actually engaging in serving the customers. This location is also convenient to the apartment complexes that line 95th Street and Pulaski Road. It's a good location to shop at if you want to see a nicer location. read more

Ill start with the positive - this store is conveniently located, and is usually pretty clean. Other than that, I dread shopping here. I just waited in line today for 12 minutes with only 2 people ahead of me. They never have enough staff bagging, and I usually just bag my own to save time. I have visited this location every day of the week, and at different times of the day and night. The check out service is always SLOW. Maybe they could hire on some additional staff. read more

I live near the Jewel on 103rd. & Kedzie but I always go to the Jewel on 95th. They have everything & more that I want - the people are helpful, the produce & meat are always fresh and I also enjoy the more "unusual" shelf items. I especially would like to compliment the Bakery Department - they are the first department I see as I enter the store. Everyone goes above and beyond to always help me. If I want something that is not out on the shelf they gladly oblige me - they cut an individual piece of pie for me if it's not there, bring out things from the back when they are obviously busy doing other jobs - always with a smile. The pharmacy sucks! I have a very bad case of bronchitis and was prescribed cough syrup with Coedine. I was told the prescription would be ready in an hour. I went to pick it up a few hours later on Friday they tell me the prescription had to be approved by the doctor that wrote it. I have a history of Bronchitis and have been getting meds at this pharmacy for over 10 years. I told the tech that the doctors office wouldn't be open until Tuesday and he basically said too bad. Luckily I was able to take the prescription across the street and get it filled! Everyone is not a drug addict or young kids that abuse drugs. I understand precautions but this was rediculous. The lack of compassion shown by the staff was totally unprofessional! Coporate will be hearing from me first thing Tuesday morning! read more

I wanted a special cake for my 50th birthday. I went to Mariano's first but the girl behind the counter wasn't that helpful when I told her I wanted something different. So I decided to go to my local Jewel store, where I have gotten terrific pastries there before. The woman behind the counter was so helpful and accommodating. I told her what I was hoping for and she and I came up with a cake that was quite delicious. She gave me her opinion when I asked and also make some wonderful suggestions.
