She was quite surprised to find that out, but that's Yelp's problem, so if you are interested in going to dine here, I would recommend it as they do cater for all sorts of intolerances as well, but open at 4pm NOT 7am as it says on here. We were in Wynnum today while the inaugural Wynnum Seafood Festival took place, but by the time we…read morearrived there throngs of festival-goers queueing up for over 5 mins just to get a feed. My sister and I weren't too impressed. By chance we decided to stroll down to the esplanade and have a wander around and came across this little gem. It seems a lot of other ex-festival people had the same idea and decided to escape the crowds and have some seafood by the sea shore. While it was super busy at the Pelican's Nest and all the outdoor seating was taken, we ventured inside to find there were no queues and we could order straight away (no 5 mins waiting in line!). We ordered the 'Treasure Chest', were given a buzzer and went outside to wait. Food was ready in under 10 mins and we decided to take away our food and walk over to the esplanade and sit in the park to enjoy our feast. The food was delicious - fish was super fresh and flaked away nicely. We also really enjoyed the prawn cutlets - nicely butterflied and cooked to perfection. I also really like the fact that the meal came with a proper side salad. All in all it was a lovely meal, and was definitely the highlight of today - after the disappointment of the festival.

Best part is the park across the street leading towards the Wynuum jetty. You can choose to have your food take-away and eat at the end of the pier.

We had to wait a small amount of time before someone emerged from out the back but after that the service was friendly and fast. The coffee was creamy and came with a double shot. Nice! While I was waiting, I got the chance to browse the other bits and pieces for sale. They have a small range of speciality ingredients like spices, oil and mustard. There are gorgeous looking homemade cakes and you can order bread the way you like it. There's a good range of natural products too, and I suspect the sincere creative looking chef-fy types behind the counter were displaying something close to passion for their work as they served the fortunate ones in front of me. There are heaps of varieties - you'll know the usual suspects - chunky beef and bacon, pepper, chicken curry, beef and tomato, etc. I knew they tasted great but just discovered yesterday when talking to one of the local business women that they get their meat from the busy butcher a few doors down. We like the meat from this fellow too, so now I feel even better about these pies, knowing they are made from great ingredients.
