Daughter ordered the fish of the day and ate every single bite ! Another girl ordered the mixed vegetables with chicken and as we all took a bit off one another's plate , I will say ... I am unsure if I've ever had better veggies ! Oh also the Brussel sprouts .... oh my .. just get out ! Vegetables shouldn't even be that good ! I'm struggling to remember the last time I've had such poor service at a restaurant. It took over an hour and a half to get our order- a regular burger and a mushroom burger. When the food did finally come out, they served us two beef burgers. When we finally got approximately the right order, the mushroom burger was missing all of the toppings (so, yes- it was a bun and a cooked mushroom cap) and it looked like a bite had been taken out of the beef burger. Every table around us seemed to be having the same dreadful experience. No food. Empty glasses. The staff was inattentive and mostly absent from the floor. I'd be willing to cut them some slack given how short staffed restaurants are at the moment if I hadn't watched the manager sit at the bar for half the night while most of the tables were left needing attention - wanting more drinks, to pay their bill or without any food at all. The food that finally came was ok but frankly not in line with the price point. A $25 burger should be pretty special, or at least hot. There must be better options in Marfa. If so, go there. read more

Like all restaurants trying to survive the pandemic/post pandemic times; this one is no exception, so be patient while reserving, ordering and waiting for food/drink. We couldn't make reservations but we're able to sneak a table in the bar area, a bit slow service wise but it's to be expected while staffing is an issue for everyone; what sets the current places apart is how they treat you when they get to you, and that was exceptional! Our drinks were on point (old fashion a chocolate dessert drink) and one of, if not the best chicken fried steak we've ever had! We had a small issue with one of our dishes (ceviche was too sour) they immediately accommodated - with pride! The food and service here are very disappointing. For breakfast Jett's offers a casual self-service breakfast burrito buffet. Although there is a choice of three varieties of burrito, the burritos are mostly scrambled egg and little bacon or chilies. Our dinner was equally disappointing. The dining room is very stark is begin with. We were seated in the back in a dimly lit annex room. The service was extremely slow and our dishes of lemon linguine and the Giant Burger were pretty basic and overly expensive. This was a true bright spot during our Marfa visit. That's due largely in part to the bartender Jason. He was attentive, friendly, and so accommodating. We stopped in for a late lunch/snack and were not disappointed. There is a nice variety of menu and happy hour items. There's a full bar, so you can get any cocktail you'd like. We had the mixed berry spinach salad with poppy seed dressing and the southwestern Caesar salad. Both were fresh and delicious. This lovely bar exceeded our expectations. Great restaurant & beautiful space a historic hotel. Got lost in the boutique while waiting for our table -- happily so. Seems the buyer KNOWS my taste! ;) We had sweet (potato) fries as appetizer, then veggie pesto pasta, sesame encrusted tuna steak & spinach/strawberry salad (which hardly needed dressing it was so fresh & tasty). What makes Jett's Grill special is the location. It is located inside of Hotel Paisano, which is where the cast and crew of the movie "Giant" stayed during the filming process. On the walls of the restaurant there are framed behind-the-scenes photographs. Besides the special atmosphere, the restaurant is average. The restaurant lacks the authentic western feel that the rest of the hotel has. Overall, the food is average in taste and the portions are big. I had the tacos, which were good but kind of bland; they lacked a wow factor. However, I must say that I tried a bite of the chicken fried steak and it is really good! With all this being said, Jett's Grill is a great place to eat in Marfa, however I would recommend trying to eat at Stellina before making your way to Jett's. read more

Once in awhile you round up because reviewers don't seem to understand and appreciate a place for what it is. Having dined or drank at Jett's on many occasions, I have to applaud its reliability. As a hotel restaurant, they are open when other restaurants are closed. They have to feed visitors (most of whom arrived unprepared for a town where, without a reservation or some advance footwork, you might just be dining at Stripes or Dairy Queen.). On my first visit, I didn't find the service very friendly, although I've gained perspective on it. Marfa struggles under the weight of visitor expectations. It's amazingly cosmopolitan for a tiny town three hours from any major city. But resources are finite: labor, supplies, patience. There's one restaurant supplier for the region. If they don't show up (or if employees don't) other restaurants can close early, turn people away, etc. Jett's still has to feed (and water!) those who roll in their door. A lot of visitors (and some of the part-time residents) seem to bring their big-city expectations and get bent out of shape (often over service.) Rules of Marfa dining: if you're particularly attached to dining at a specific spot, make a reservation if they take one. With a reservation, don't expect food in front of you for at least 30 min after seating. Without a reservation, expect 45-60 min. It's just the speed of Marfa (and the region in general) - good food is made to order, and there isn't the depth of personnel that you would have in a larger city. There might be two people running that kitchen tonight. You can also call ahead - most restaurants take to-go orders. Allow 45 minutes for this. I've noticed a trend at Jett's: the servers there put up with a lot of sh*t. And I will admit that some servers are not terribly friendly off the bat. Sometimes you walk in and have trouble getting a drink or a seat for awhile. It's not personal. I've noticed that the servers are actually great at keeping tabs on who's waiting for a drink, food, seat - it's just that when you walked in, there were six people ahead of you waiting for drink, food, seat, check. -- that you don't know about. Seat yourself in the bar/lounge area and be patient. Jett's is usually slammed. They will get to you. I've also noticed that being nice gets noticed, and service becomes friendly when you are. The food is reliably good -- and sometimes excellent. I am a big fan of Jett's. read more

Three stars awarded STRICTLY on atmosphere and it's reputation amongst other diners. Our experience: First night at the hotel, famished after 4 hours in The Big Bed. Showered, dressed up, went down about 6:30. Set at a table next to a group of 6 diners. Patiently waited 10 minutes. Finally a waitress showed up to serve that table, we assumed, since she looked at us she would come over. Wrong. She came back to that table 10 minutes later. Looked at us again and didn't come over. We left. HEY, brunette waitress, you missed out on a $30 tip. Jett's, you missed out on the $130+ tab we ran up at Cochineal. 3rd night at hotel, we ventured down again, a waiter actually came to our table, very nice guy, drinks were good, but, alas, the kitchen had had a fire and dinner was not being served. Came to Jett's because of other Yelp reviews in Marfa and we were not disappointed. I know I know, a 4 star rating probably means the manager is going to kill me, but it was a really good experience. The fried artichoke was amazing. Quite a beers on tap...I stuck with the Lagunitas and Dogfish Head IPAs, but they did have local Big Bend Hefe on tap. For the main course I had the Jalapeño Gravy Fried Steak and it was pretty darn good....be hungry if you are going to order. The bartenders were attentive and the atmosphere wasn't bad. It doesn't matter that it was a busy Sunday night and the only restaurant open in the town. I had a terrible experience getting a salmon salad at Jett's Grill, the restaurant at the historic Paisano Hotel. It took at least an hour and a half to receive two salmon salads, which are pretty basic to prepare. The hardest part is grilling the salmon. I'm not the only one who has had problems getting decent service at this restaurant, that night or at other meals. One couple that arrived after me, waited more than 20 minutes to be approached by anyone in the restaurant. They made their complaint known, but like me, they stayed because they knew Jett's was the only place to get a meal. The New York couple sitting next to me at the bar, originally sat outside on the restaurant's patio and enjoyed their chips and salsa appetizer for an hour and a half, before they became fed up and discovered they had to come inside and sit at the bar to get waited on for the rest of the meal they had been waiting to order. Since my husband and I have been in Marfa, getting a meal at a restaurant has been a major theme amongst visitors. This town is sorely shy of restaurants, most likely due to the U.S. declining economy. There are only a few restaurants in Marfa, defiinitely not enough to serve all those staying at local motels and those passing through on the way to somewhere else. One message keeps coming up. Where ever you go, you hear the same story (even from the locals!): Avoid dining at Jett's Grill, because the service is horrific. The restaurant's manager (also the bartender), though a young good looking man, does not know how to manage a restaurant. He should not be a manager. I guess they can't get anyone else. He has a bad reputation, even amongst the locals. Even though he can be openly mean to patrons/potential patrons, I feel badly for him, because he doesn't understand how to manage a restaurant. When the restaurant starts to get crowded, he needs to start a list of those waiting to be seated. These people need to be given a rough estimate of how long a wait they should anticipate. He could even get those buzzing pagers many restaurants use to let a group know their table is ready. That would help everyone have a better experience. Right now, he is gruff and throws his problems on the customer. If this young man is still working at Jett's Grill, I wish him well. This restaurant gets at least a second star, because the food is very good. If you're willing to seriously wait it out, you'll have a good meal. read more

Restaurant in the hotel where James Dean, Elizabeth Taylor and Rock Hudson stayed while filming GIANT, this hit or miss collection of entrees with no intelligible theme is a great find when local favorite Maiya's is closed...which was the case when we came here. Disjointed service, but beautiful bar and great courtyard where service was slow, but hey, we're in Marfa. Full bar, a find in this town, and even though they didn't know how to make certain drinks, (they being not far from high school students) the attractive and well-dressed staff were happy to learn. Great ambiance of old-school Texas. Worth coming to for at least drinks if Maiya's is open. Courtyard comes alive after dark. read more

We tried the goat cheese crostini and she recommended the fried artichoke hearts which complimented each other wonderfully. Who knew that such a delicious restaurant could incubate in a little tiny West Texas desert town? I'd dig this place. The interior is incredible. You can see that the interior was more or less restored to its original design. The bar is super cool. It's a real throwback to the 1940s era. If anything, just stop by this place for a peek in the restaurant and courtyard. Onto the food. I had the chile rellenos. Nomnomnom. Super crispy on the outside with fried batter. The inside of the chiles had nice gooey cheese. Seriously. These are some of the best chili rellenos I've ever had. OH!!! And how could I forget. Ok, this is going to sound menial but the butter for their bread is delicious. It has honey or something in it. Not sure what it is, but honestly I don't care. I just loved it. TIP: This is a more slightly upscale place so just be prepared to spend a little more for most entrees. Not exuberant but perhaps not what you'd expect in the Texas desert. The chile rellenos were around $14 but most entrees were north of that. read more

Food is really great, but it appears they might be short staffed (or maybe we just visited during an unexpected rush hour?). Visited with my boyfriend on a Wednesday around 7. Jermaine took care of us and seated us immediately despite needing to help another table change the tablecloth. Jermaine was awesome, despite how busy he was. However, he was the only waiter we saw for a good ten minutes. Another waiter finally appeared, but it was just the two of them at the front, a big party in the back, a packed bar, and a full house of customers, with a nonstop line to the door (which is great!). I think there were maybe 3 servers in total and one person helping to bus tables, they definitely could've used some help! Overall, the food was delicious and we enjoyed the ambiance of the place. We had no problem with our waiter as Jermaine was great despite how busy he and the other waiter were. read more

For a restaurant/bar that mostly caters to tourists, I would NOT recommend either dining nor stopping by the bar for a cocktail at Jett's Grill. We arrived at the restaurant an hour before our dinner reservations and decided to sit in the courtyard at one of the tables and have a cocktail before dinner. Two waitresses passed by us delivering meals and drinks to other customers, but totally ignored us. So, we went inside the bar and sat at one of the tables. The table next to us was delivered a set of drinks, while we were never acknowledged. So, we returned to the courtyard and again sat at a table. As one of the waitresses passed by us, I asked "what do I need to do to order a drink." She responded "you need to go inside and order the drink." "Then you would bring it to us," I asked. Her reply was "no, I don't deliver drinks." I said, "but I just saw you deliver some to the next table." She then walked off. About that time our local friend arrived for our dinner reservation and was greeted by the hostess who brought us menus and silverware. We then ordered cocktails followed by dinner. So, it seems that Jett's Grill gives special attention to its regulars, but treats visitors with disrespect. read more

Very good food here. Burger was very juicy and the fries were seasoned just right. I had the pistachio chicken fried steak. It had a jalapeño gravy that had just enough Heat to make it flavorful. There was a light flour taste to the gravy, but that jalapeño covered it perfectly if you are concerned. Very large portion and thick. The price is a tad high, but it is definitely a place where you get what you pay for. Also they do great drinks if you need a night cap. Oh, don't miss out if they have their French onion soup as that was amazing. read more

I'm glad this place was opened on a Monday night when we arrived in town. Marfa is quiet Monday through Wednesday so bonus points for that. The food was AMAZING. I felt like our service was a bit slow but we honestly had no where else to go so we didn't mind just sitting in the courtyard, enjoying the sunset, and relaxing. I ordered the pork chops and my husband ordered jambalaya. My husband ate all of the jambalaya - he LOVED it! The pork chops were SO good and so filling I couldn't finish it! My daughter and I were traveling across country and I was glad to stop in Marfa, a place I always wanted to visit. Jett's looked like a great place and came recommended by our Airbnb host. We loved the dining room and our server Jermaine came right by. I had pistachio coated steak and it was the most interesting twist on the Texas favorite, country fried steak, that I have ever had. Fantastic. And such a huge portion, it could easily be shared by two. The only negative, and it is a slight one, is that it got very busy and Jermaine seemed to be the only server. That was not his fault, but by the end of the meal, the service was not as attentive. That said - I would return! read more

Since we were staying at the Paisano, Jett's was a convenient place to have drinks. OK selection of craft beer and good cocktails.
