I reached out to Jettie Bailey Fence Paint to take care of my wood fence in the backyard. They provided a fair and straightforward estimate, so I moved forward with the job. On the first day, they came out and power-washed the fence and explained they would return on a separate day--after the wood had fully dried--to apply the stain.
After the staining was finished, I noticed some darker areas where the sun had been most severe. I contacted them, and they told me they would come back out to try make it better. I specifically asked what the additional visit would cost, and I was told there would be no extra charge and that they would apply a second coat if needed. They also briefly mentioned the possibility of using paint at an extra cost, but that topic never came up again, and no paint was ever used--only additional coats of stain.
They returned and applied a second coat, and while it looked somewhat better, the color was still uneven. Throughout the process, I interacted with several different people from the business--mostly by phone and some text--which made communication inconsistent and confusing.
After the second coat, they contacted me again asking to schedule yet another visit--a fourth trip. During this call, I was told I would now owe an additional $400. I explained that someone had already been to my house, had applied the second coat of stain, and had left extra product behind, and that I had never been informed of any extra charges. They said they would call me back.
Later, I received a voicemail from the owner's spouse. When I eventually spoke directly with the owner, Mr. Jettie Bailey, he became angry, used profanity toward me during the call, and then hung up on me. He also complained that his workers had to come out three times and that it was costing him money. I reminded him that the second visit was required because the fence needed to dry before staining, and the third visit was the follow-up I was told would be at no additional charge--something they said "sometimes happens" with sun-damaged wood.
I will pay the balance owed per the original contract, but I will not do business with this company again and would strongly caution others before doing so. read more
