Jethro's is a staple in Iowa and this is the newest location. The last time I had the ribs and burnt ends combo plate with baked beans and potato salad. Not the greatest Jethro's but still worth a visit maybe if you have a coupon or gift card. I have gotten their bacon wrapped ribs (which is an appetizer), the ribs are good but the bacon is often times too soggy with grease which makes it difficult to take down. I have also ordered their cross cut fries, which were overpriced and again, soggy as can be. It's also in a bad location. Service is good, however. I recommend going to the Ankeny location instead. read more

I love Jethro's...usually, but we went for the Sunday Buffet for father's day, but it was a disappointment in a number of ways. First, the price was pretty steep ($22.95 the regular Sunday buffet price) and this doesn't include a $2.75 drink. So that's over $25.00 before taxes and tip. The food was pretty good, but if you are hoping for barbecue, there isn't much on the buffete. Barbecued wings was the only barbecue offered and they weren't very good...this feedback from a true wing lover and the honored father of the day. While the breakfast buffett was okay it was definitely not worth over $25.00 plus tax per person. They had a number of breakfast foods which were pretty good, but the omelet station was closed a full hour before the buffet was supposed to close. They had a two table station with meats and omelet station, and one of the two tables was closed 30 minutes before the Buffett was scheduled to end. For some reason about 30 minutes before the buffet was scheduled to closep, seemingly unessessary new trays of foods were brought out to fill already amply full of food trays (huge overflowing pan of bacon, another roast, corn beef hash) and this is just what I happened to notice. This seemed particularly puzzling given that at the same time they were breaking down all the tables and chairs and some of the food tables a full 45 minutes before the buffet was scheduled to close. All around us they were breaking tables down, stacking up chairs, and taking them out in large stacks on carts. This was very distracting and disturbing activity as we attempted to eat, and I expected much more tha this from a $60.00 fathers day breakfast. The overall tone a full hour before they were scheduled to close the buffet was "hurry up and eat, so we can get out of here." Overall only fair food, too expensive, and although I don't expect a fine dining experience from a barbecue joint, I do expect to dine without all the tables around me and the food being packed up. Although Jethro's general menu is great, I do not recomend the breakfast Buffett and will never return myself. read more

Stopped in for a quick bite and some drinks. Our bartender Randy did an exquisite job to insure our drinks were never empty and our food order came out correctly. Job well done. read more

5 stars because of the great service from our waitress Hailey V. She was prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, overall I was very impressed. She recommended the bubbas boneless wings and they were pretty good, but we will be back for the great service. Overall great spot to watch the game. read more

I stop here every time in town ... about once or twice a quarter. Food is normally good and it was this time as well. Service is slow ... I sat at the bar and had to wait to place an order and now sitting here waiting to pay. There are only 5 people at the bar ... seats at least 20. A colleague of mine walked in after me with three guest and sat at a table. He came up to the bar after about 10 or 15 minutes as they still had not been waited on. Maybe the wait staff should spend a bit less time talking about their biology test they took and the pressures of school and focus on the customers ... just my silly idea! read more

My husband and I tried the buffet at Jethro's on Sunday, May 6th. When we arrived there was no one at the desk where we read a sign to wait to be seated. We waited for several minutes. When a young man showed up he didn't say anything to welcome us or asked if he could help us. I volunteered we were a party of 2. After looking at this seating map he asked if we'd like a high top table in the bar. We declined and he took us to a table in the regular dining area. When we reached our table I told him we were going to try the buffet. He said that was fine and to help ourselves. He indicated that the buffet was set up in the banquet room and gestured in that direction. It turned out to be as far away from our table as one could get. We made our way there after asking a bartender where it was. The selection of food was good. The temperature of the food was not. Several of the serving pieces had been left open and some needed refilling. It was obvious that no one had taken charge of making sure things were in order. The spoons needed to be cleaned, the temperature checked, the table cloths cleaned, etc. After having filled my plate I arrived at out table before my husband. I waited for someone to take our drink order and finally flagged down a server. She told me our server would be right over which she was. The problem was that it took at least 5 minutes for her to arrive with 2 glasses of water and a beer. We were disappointed with our experience here. First let me say the food was delicious. Who ever was in the back really knew their way around a kitchen. Kudos to them. The problem was wait staff to be honest. Two different meals they brought were incorrect (and the server had an interesting habit of not using their pad and paper to actually *write* the order down which would have probably avoided that issue). The next problem was the billing was wrong on how it charged my date and I's meals, overcharging unsurprisingly. It was fixed easy enough but if I order from them again it will most definitely be for take out only. read more

My husband and I were traveling through and decided we wanted BBQ for lunch. Stopped here and were very glad we did! Nice, clean place with lots of TVs to watch sports. GREAT FOOD! We had the fried pickles (best I've had), and dinner for 2 (that is more like a dinner for 3 or 4) burnt ends, pulled pork, ribs, mac & cheese, coleslaw, baked beans, jalapeño cream corn, and corn bread muffins. It was all delicious!!! Our server was excellent as well (wish I could remember his name). He explained everything very well, and was on top of everything!! Definitely recommend! read more
