I've rented plenty of boats before on other lakes and have never had any issues. This was my first time on chain o lakes and renting with JetFunn. They're expensive, but the only ones who had a boat available. Read the reviews about "prop damage" fines but went with them anyway. Sure enough, we returned the boat after normal use and got hit with $85 extra for prop damage. They may as well charge it standard with the already high price of rental and if you still decide to rent here, then definitely expect to pay it. First thing, don't fall for the boat propeller scam. They paint the propellers black so no matter what they look like they have been damaged but all that really happened was the paint was rubbed off. Make sure to take pictures and not just a general picture, a close up picture of each fin. The workers weren't overly helpful. When we asked about renting a knee board, the lady behind the desk seemed confused or didn't know what a knee board was. The boat was ok, nothing special. read more

This was one of the few times I'm very happy I didn't check reviews for a place before going. I rented a one hour wave runner each for me and my boyfriend for anniversary. Both of us were novices at water crafts and were apprehensive with the stories we've heard of flipping it. They went through all the safety precautions and explained everything thoroughly and calmed our fears. My boyfriend went off and had a blast, whereas I suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome, so I was in a lot of pain trying to figure out the throttle. Begrudgingly, I came back to shore half way through because my carpal tunnel was so inflamed I couldn't handle it. The guy was very nice and understanding and even offered me an ice pack and to look at my hand. He kept me company on shore while my boyfriend enjoyed the rest of his ride. BEWARE!!! So this is my story and sorry that it's long but it's the honest truth..... my Yamaha GP1300R blew a crankshaft seal on May 12, 2017. Saw jet funn was close so I brought here that day. Kevin the owner said he could fix it no problem. Felt confident he could do the job in reasonable time so I could be out for summer that was approaching. 2 weeks past so I called for update. Was told by kevin the parts were taking awhile to arrive. Called week after that and parts are in and they are doing the work. Called week after that and was told oil line for some odd reason wasn't connected and now needs to order bolt and washer to do more repairs. Week later called again. Bolts/washer arrived and doing work. Called week after that and was told throttle cable was busted and needs replacement. Called two weeks later and said it's all together but now runs rough. By this time I was not happy and was sick of waiting. Decided to just show up unannounced today 7/21/17 which is almost 2 1/2 months later. He said needs more work before it will be good to go. I told him I'm taking it home today. He brought into shop. Misfired once when he started it then did a few other adjustments and magically runs perfect I should say at least sounds to run perfect. Everything seemed just a little strange to me. Finally I go to pay and he says I need to pay a portion cash. I laughed and said put on my card. Finally he put it on card only after I took a pic of his work order. To be honest about this place I've never felt so unsure of the work that was done. I felt like I was lied to each time I called that I was given the run around. Jet funn will never see me or any other one of my friends family in that building. Tomorrow I'm going to test it on the water in lake Geneva to see if it can actually run well. Keeping my fingers crossed that I don't have to take jet funn to small claims court. Gets 2 stars because it sounded to run right. Was originally going to give 1 star. read more

Here we go. I've seen all those "prop damage" and "bad customer service" reviews about this place, but I was like - this not gonna happen to me. So, it was my birthday party and I decided to rent out 2 deck boats for me and my friends. And it was worst decision of that day. Everything was smooth and staff was smiling at our faces until we get back to the shore. And receptionist start saying "my manager (owner) wants to talk to you". So the guy came and start claiming that we damaged the prop on a boat and now it's "unrepairable" which comes to 200$ charge for a piece of aluminum, which was already painted couple times after similar "unrepairable cases". However, the reason of all this inconveniences is shallow water on the lake, which you simply can't avoid at some areas, and which is bringing extra hundreds of dollars of revenue to this business. F*ck it's already so long, simple advice- keep away from this place, there are so many better rentals. I wish you guys to reconsider the way you lead your business, ciao! read more

Propeller, propeller,propeller!!!! I guess thats how they run their business. They charge everyone for the propeller either its repairable or not. We had a great time on the boat but the customer service is very poor. Be prepared to pay more than the quote over the phone! Also, they book boats back to back so you never get your boat on time. We got ripped off because of how slow their employees work. Next time we'll go to a different place. Nice boats but the business is shady !! read more

Just finished a nice ride through the chain of lakes on wave runner PWC from Jet Fun. This is a great place. Kevin and Nancy are the best!! Boats were clean and well maintained. The PWC ran without any issue. Highly recommend this place for water craft rentals. read more

Read all the reviews and make your own opinion, keep in mind that I made several of the nice reviews for Jet Funn while my wife was employed there. Fox Lake is a small town and if you ask around about Kevin Lynch owner of Jet Funn, you will get a lot of honest answers as to the man he is. He treats his employees like he owns them, talking bad about them, to them or degrating them in front of customers. To say he is shady would be an understatement in my mind. He charges for everything and anything and yet does not have his employees on payroll. He owns several rental properties - ask the tenants about the condition and repairs that need to be done - and every year has to come up with property taxes. This is no fault of the employees at Jet Funn, but yet he is a complete jerk towards them, this year after 7 years he told my wife that he did not have enough hours for her at the end of August and she was out of a job??? She did not quite, she did not leave for another job, she was let go. Meanwhile Kevins girlfriend is helping do my wifes job for free, I know the economy is tough, but if you let someone go, do not tell employees that she was fired or she left. Everyone was right. They are SCAMMERS. DO NOT GO HERE. They tell you about this prop damage fee, and play it off like it's something that doesn't happen very often. THERES NO DAMAGE. The prop is spray painted black, so once you're out in the water, the paint chips and they claim you damaged the prop. THREE PEOPLE not including us, had to pay for prop damage. Yet it's "something that doesn't happen." BS. There was absolutely no damage to the prop other than their paint chipping off. And I'm pretty sure the $80 they charged me MORE THAN covers the $4 paint can they're just going to use to "repair" it. Also, they charge you an insane amount for gas. Our "$280" 4-hour boat ride ended up costing us a total of $500! DO NOT GO HERE. The customer service sucked. They were rude and rolled their eyes at you every moment they could. IF THERE ARE ANY GOOD REVIEWS ITS BECAUSE THEY OFFER YOU A DISCOUNT TO PUT A GOOD ONE UP FOR THEM! This place needs to be shut down immediately. I promise you that you absolutely shouldn't go here. We had a terrible experience with renting a speedboat from Jet Funn. After we arrived the lady at the front desk talked for 30 mins about how much everything would cost if there was any damage. She actually lifted up different pieces of equipment and showed us what each costed. I thought I was on a hidden camera tv show it was that ridiculous. We had a 2 and 5 year old with us. Once we signed our life away we were told to take pictures of any damage before leaving the dock. (The last thing you want to do when you have two little kids and finally get on the boat). There was damage which we pointed out and as soon as we left the dock we could tell the boat didn't sound right at all! It sounded terrible. We wanted to swim so we went down pretty far to a sandbar which was when we noticed the anchor had actually torn through to the bottom of the boat and was unaccessable. So we were unable to swim and when we got back we were told that if we didn't return the map they would charge us 10$. They did not refund us any money for the inconvenience. I would never ever go back here I have rented boats quite a few times and this was absolutely terrible. read more

Friendly staff (mostly), but what a scam! No wonder they were the only place I could find last minute for a rental on Labor day weekend. I really wish I would have read the reviews first, but I was out of options. They will NEVER get my business again. Do yourself a favor and book earlier than I did so you can have better options. Just like most of the other bad reviews here this has to do with the prop fee and sketchy charges. When we got to our boat the person helping us (who was very friendly) told me to take pictures of the prop. There was definitely damage on one of the blades and he wanted to make sure that I wasn't going to be charged for it. The boat itself was ok. The trim button was broken so they told me in order to trim up I would have to use the trailer button. No big deal, it started right up and did exactly what we asked it to do. The fuel gauge was also broken, either that or they way way over charged me. The needle didn't move from when we left to when we returned, which was about 5 min at WOT, 20-30 min of cruising, and 10 min of idling (we showed up very late to our rental and spent most of the time swimming near the sand bars). I know these boats can be thirsty, that's why I was surprised by the fact that the fuel gauge still showed "full". If it was indeed broken they could have easily given me less than a full tank to start. If it wasn't broken then they either charge 10x the normal price for fuel (I know fuel on the water is more expensive than at a station) or they billed me for more than it actually needed. Either way I was very upset. The rental fee was $280 and when all was said and done I paid over $400. (math for fuel issue is that I paid around $50-$60 in fuel but the gauge showed full the entire time. Even with a 50 gallon tank, $50-$60 should be around 10 gallons or more assuming higher prices than at a gas station which would have made the needle move). Either way, I was not please with that. Onto the prop...So as I mentioned I was told to take pictures of the damage (which I think they tell everyone to take pictures regardless of damage or not). The prop had damage which my pictures show and also it shows that it was entirely black. When we got back most of the spray paint wore off which I was told by the staff to expect. The damage was still there and I honestly believe that it was the exact same as before. I tried arguing with the staff member who checked my boat back in (different guy than who sent us out) but he had nothing but excuses. First when I showed him the picture he said it was sun light reflecting off even though you can clearly see the edge that was bent. When I zoomed in you could see the reflection spot and where the edge was bent. He then said no it was just a drop of water that made it look that way. I asked him how could there be water on that part of the prop when the rest of it was perfectly dry. He couldn't answer but then told me he knew it wasn't damaged when we left because he just installed a new prop on it before we used it. Unless I'm mistaken, the powder coating that comes on most props doesn't just come off after 1 1/2 hours of moderate use. This was clearly a spray painted prop, which to me means that it couldn't have been a new prop. If anyone knows for fact that the short amount of time I had the prop spinning could have torn off that much factory paint/powder coat then on that single point I will concede. Either way, the guy wasn't listening and I didn't have time to argue any more. In the end my $280 half day rental with very little actual boating cost me over $400 ($415 I think was my total, we'll see when the charges go through). I was not happy with my experience and with all the other negative reviews here I don't think it was just a bad day for them. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

I would give them negative triple zero score. I'm a very religious person and will put this into gods hands. This business will receive less and less customers due to how badly they scam there clients. I was very nice to them on the phone and they were nice back but I'm not the type of person who will yell or swear on the phone. I'm trying to go to Barcelona and help the victims from the attack . I work at a hospital full time and I am trying to buy hiking supplies and am waiting for the refund back from my pontoon rental that I didn't go on because of the fox river flood . They offered me a refund right away and told me that it would take awhile. It's been four weeks now and nothing . They said "it's too bad that it didn't work out and welcome me back " I said , of course !!! As soon as I get off from the hospital this year or next year and as long im not "on-call" then I definitely will be back . I love boats !!! I recommend going to any boat rental at lake Geneva as they are most genuine and honest business . This business might take drugs , alcohol , or gambling because i dont know of any untruthful business on the planet . i know i will never get this refund back and didnt even get to enjoy or sit on their boat or even set foot on their property and was very hopeful about giving them more of my money . They get to take my 300$ for free and to enjoy it . I canceled 4days before the trip . I should have read the reviews before I even booked . There have been bad reviews from 10years back. I got the bug to try a waverunner several years ago and Jet Funn came highly recommended. Since then I have rented waverunners, boats, pontoons and tubes from them. I have since bought a used waverunner and 2 used pontoons from the owner. When I rented I always treated there boats as I would want someone to treat mine. (I can't say the same for others that I have seen on the lake) About the 4th time I rented, I hit a rock under a bridge and sure enough Dinged the prop. It looked to me as though it was trashed, but the guy said it was repairable, and charged me a nominal fee. I not only felt bad for braking his boat, but by the time he swapped out the prop, the next renters where 10 minutes late getting out. All in all Ireaaly enjoy the place and have sent alot of friends there way. They have been treated fair too. I always make a day of it by takink brats and "beverage". When I'm done waverunning I cook up some brats and enjoy the beach. Anyway, maybe it's just me, but I really like the place. read more
