An Unforgettable Experience of Pure Kindness & Care…read more In a world where genuine human connection can feel rare, the staff at the Greek Theatre completely blew my heart wide open. Every single person went above and beyond to make me feel so loved, seen, accommodated, and truly taken care of. Huge gratitude to Savannah (and the other kind gentlemen, who assisted) at parking for making sure my mom and I were fully taken care of right from the moment we pulled up and departed, and to Carlos, who escorted me in a wheelchair with the utmost grace, gentleness, and respect. Carlos and the rest of the team ensured my mom and I were seated together in total comfort, seamlessly elevating our whole evening so we could just enjoy the magic . Their effortless kindness didn't just make my night--it left a lasting imprint on my soul . When people care this deeply about strangers, it restores your faith in humanity. It felt like that rare, beautiful moment when you stop to watch a flower wave in the wind and just feel overwhelming gratitude to be alive. Thank you, Greek Theatre team, for pouring such divine light and heart into what you do!

I liked that each week was divided up by different games, exercises, and lessons that slowly built up into a long form show. We learned the basics of improv and all its fun acronyms (yes and, CREW, etc.) and applied to to our scenes. Keith did an amazing job at making everyone feel welcomed and not scared to be vulnerable, and was an attentive teacher. I can tell he truly loves what he does because he genuinely laughs at every scene. Through this class, I also learned many life lessons: everyone is faking it till they make it, always ask more questions, embrace the silliness and absurdity of life, never stop playing, and just show up. Life is just improv if you really think about it :') Thanks Keith for a great class! Now go tap into your inner child and take an improv class!

The teaching approach is incredibly inspiring. You feel supported every step of the way, and all the teachers in the classes I attended were not only highly professional but also deeply encouraging. After completing Level 1, I immediately enrolled in Level 2 and continued all the way through Level 4. I'm proud to say I completed the entire Improv program at Improv LA, and it has been such a transformative journey. I also took Comedy Sketch 101--it was a blast! I came in with no idea what to expect, and by the end, I created a sketch that made the whole class laugh out loud!

And being tucked into a natural canyon makes the acoustics extra crispy, which made Erasure (10 years ago today) one of my favorite concerts. Built in 1920 by Christine Wetherill Stevenson, a wealthy heiress who wanted to build a space for her play about he life of Christ "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Calvary". No, it was "Pilgrimage Play" It burnt down in 1929 but rebuilt in 1931 to look like stone, making it feel like an ancient, rediscovered space. Anyway, it only hosted Christ plays (I would have called it "Nailed iT!") until the 1964 separation of church and state opened the venue to all arts. It was named after the county supervisor John Anson Ford, who was a champion of the arts. My experience here wasn't very good, some of that is because of me and some of it isn't. I…read moreregistered for it long ago and then put things on hold because of an injury. Once I was healed, I registered for a class, and the class was where I learned the hard way this isn't something I can do. I have a learning disability (diagnosed when I was young) and between that and some OCD, when I went to class I was focusing as much as I could on everything the man teaching it had to say, but because of my issues and trying to keep up with it I eventually started feeling light headed and dizzy, which can happen to me in circumstances like this. I did the best I could to absorb as much info as I could but it moved too fast for me to, and consequentially I flubbed the proceeding group exercises badly and it was clear the rest of the class was on the same page and because of my issues I was not and I could bring them down a bit. So I knew pretty quickly that this wasn't a good idea and I wouldn't be able to fully excel in it, and then I emailed the admin email for UCB explaining this and seeing about a possible partial refund and they left it on read without responding which means they'll keep my $525 because they can. I already know what their first response to this will be- that terms were made clear in the beginning there are no refunds so I admit that I am acting like I should be an exception here (maybe, maybe not) but I just want this to reach some people thinking of enrolling to know that if things don't work out for some reason, you will indeed walk away without getting your money back so keep that in mind.

I don't live too far away from here but it's always a trek coming down to downtown LA. And the tickets I received is said to park in the music center garage. Parking was $10 and really efficient. It took a while to get our bearings to find out where we could park and what was available. And at the very end, it was actually pretty efficient to get out of there as well. We're on level P6 and we were directed to go down towards the lower level and everything was very efficient to then come back up to the surface.. It's a beautiful venue. It's not huge, but they're able to make great use of the space. We sat in the balcony and got a great view and we were able to see everything fairly well. There are lots of concession stands throughout and you're even able to pre-order drinks and snacks and beverages for the intermission. Overall, it's a great venue, it's even closer to me than the Pantages, where they have a lot of other musicals as well. We caught a great show here too. Positives: -If you're driving, once you get through traffic to DTLA it's just off the freeway with beyond reasonable parking at $10. If you're taking public transit its not a far walk from the Civic Center/Grand Park stop; roughly 10 minutes. -They have a 15% processing fee for online ticket purchases vs 20% at the Pantages. Negatives: -They do programs here vs playbills so as a collector it's a really big letdown that it won't fit in your playbill binder, frame, etc. as the programs are larger. -Esthetically it has almost a collegiate lecture hall vibe to it with the wood paneling and tan seats. There's no drama or emotion within the building. -The staff here seems less invested in the productions. I've only been to 2 shows and the staff didn't seem to be consistent/care if people were filming the show on their phones. I saw them approach one person in front of me but allowed another person a few seats over to film. Any other theatre I've been to in LA or New York they are very strict about filming with some even making you delete the video immediately in front of them. -Each row is about 30-45 seats so if you're in the middle you're either stuck or going to be bothering a lot of people to exit. Contrast this to the Pantages which is on average 7-14 seats per row.
