I wanted more; I needed more; hence, my endeavor in looking for someone with depth. I began my journey with private acting courses where I knew I would learn the different methods Kirk had to offer. I was not disappointed as I became enamored with the many tactics and acting styles Kirk utilized to further open my acting academia world in roles I was not only comfortable with, but with roles I was not comfortable with. He knew I needed to be pushed outside of my comfort zone to expand and quench my thirst for this wonderful art form. Kirk dug deep into my own life experiences to make each session genuine and expansive. I continually grew with each meeting and, I cannot stress enough, how amazing his knowledge for this art form is. Kirk is not only knowledgeable, but he expects organization and is strict about coming to class unprepared, which I love! If you are going to invest time and money on performance studies, why wouldn't you come prepared? He became such an asset to my expansion as a beginning actor that I drove 1 hour for each class meeting because that is how amazing his classes are. I, soon, participated in the "Actor's Intensive Weekend Workshop" and, once again, I was blown away. I was able to meet with other actors of all walks of life and performed with them. Kirk, once again, is not only incredibly well-rounded (a real Renaissance Man), but he also provides such a safe environment and is extremely encouraging. I learned to shift from me to this person playing the role of the moment. Be prepared to be pushed to achieve the best you can, even if you don't believe you can because he sees into your soul and always knows what you are capable of (which is far more than what most believe they can). Be prepared to work hard and be pushed outside of your comfort zone because he knows you are capable of it. Be prepared to be blown away by his years of experience and many methods. Finally, be prepared to experience a life altering change in the art of "acting" because if you aren't in it for the love of the mastery, then why invest time and money? He is, by far, the best, so if you are on the fence give it a shot, you will not be disappointed.

I first tried nearly eight years ago and had a small accident so I've carried a lot of nervousness about getting back behind the wheel, especially learning later in life. I booked a lesson with a different school first and I was panicking the entire time. I genuinely thought the whole process was going to feel terrible... until I decided to try someone else and after carefully reading reviews, landed on Daniel/Cornerstone. And wow, he did not disappoint! From the very beginning, he broke everything down into clear, bite-sized steps. We built skills progressively, one thing at a time, and not once did I feel the panic I had with the previous instructor. Any time I got nervous, he'd crack a quick joke to lighten the mood, which helped more than he probably realizes. He's incredibly patient, yet very precise in pointing out what needs improvement and that combination made me feel safe while still learning quickly. If I could give more than five stars, I would. He was always right on time, super communicative, responsive to extra questions and truly transformed something I had been dreading into something I actually looked forward to. I would recommend him to anyone learning to drive! Thank you so much Daniel--please keep up the amazing work!

My daughter had taken lessons from another company where the instructor was professional but not nearly as informative and thorough as Daniel was with me, the parent, about what he was going to teach before the session and what they did after the session. As other reviewers have mentioned, Daniel is so knowledgeable about every aspect of instructing "how" to be a good driver, why you need to maneuver the car this way or that way, and took my son on all sorts of streets and freeways and different situations. And yes, Daniel is very funny (in a subtle way, I've noticed myself) and very very patient. And my son can attest to these comments! If you're looking for a driving school, I HIGHLY recommend Cornerstone!

This course teaches essential skills for verbal de-escalation, boundary setting, and physical self-defense, but what really sets it apart is how those skills are ingrained through fully-adrenalized, full-force fight scenarios. That, and the fact that the IMPACT instructors are phenomenal. I'm always impressed by their attentiveness, innovative teaching techniques, and their emphasis on students' safety during physical confrontations. Since taking the Basics course, I've successfully used verbal de-escalation tools twice in real-life situations, including during a frightening incident when a muscular man ran straight at me and blocked my path while I was walking in my neighborhood. I've also applied the skills I've learned in the workplace and most other areas of life. It may sound hyperbolic, but the class really changed how I walk through the world. If you can't commit to the full Basics course, consider taking the Intro Class. It's a great place to start. IMPACT also offers an advanced course and a "Defense Against the Armed Assailant" course for those who have completed the Basics. I took both and highly recommend!

In 2006-2007 Chapman's program stole some of the best Faculty from AFI because it was a bigger and better film program.  http://ftv.chapman.edu/about/facilities_equipment/ Call AFI and compare and contrast what Chapman offers before you enroll. No, it's not in Hollywood but it's an hour drive away from Hollywood.  Chapman has: many, many REAL editing suits a back lot NEW state of the art equipment not just a sound stage but 2 enough equipment for everyone all sorts or studios and stages for various aspects of filmmaking most of AFI's great faculty (excluding Jim McBride) a theater with 500 seats make-up rooms and green rooms oh, and a few hardcore libraries on campus. AFI has: none of the above.  no soundstages no new gear fuzzy monitors glitchy cameras a dozen molding editing suits a small 200 person theater no make-up rooms no green rooms (they'd like to turn the library into a green room for special lecture guests) a room called a library that's been gutted of everything rare and relevant for a filmmaker a nice view of the city on a clear day (but we all know LA is the most polluted city in the country so there is rarely a clear day) CELEBRITY GALAS CELEBRITY LECTURES, AFI's 100 Lists... that's what AFI is really about: the fluff the student is last on their lists of priorities. Lastly, I would like to say Martin Scorsese requested his original film score for Taxi Driver from the AFI "archives." First, the head librarian could not find it. Second, when found it was on top of some rickety shelves totally placed in a spot with no rhyme or reason. Third, this archive had broken windows and pigeons living inside it. So lastly, the film score was covered in a half inch layer of bird feces. Dear Scorsese, take your papers elsewhere! Dear aspiring filmmakers, visit the schools you're applying to or just apply to Chapman. WASC how could you accredite this place?

The downsides are - theater only seats about 135, which may or may not suit your needs, and there isn't a great deal of close parking. We also had a lot of things (including catering) to load in and that required going up and down a lot of stairs. There are elevators but we weren't given access to that part of the building since the nearby library seemed to still be open. But one of the good things is there is a (very small) kitchen you can use, so that means you can do your own catering, which will certainly help save money. The interiors aren't beautiful. Some of the carpets are stained and the look in general is very 1980's outdated. But I liked the convenience of the location, the friendly and helpful staff and the ability to bring in your own catering and have room for a small reception pre or post screening. If you're looking for a screening space, I do recommend you check out AFI.

But before we took the exam, me and those two other students were talking about how we weren't confident about taking the exam because of the instructor and her horrible confusing teaching. The instructor, which I'm guessing is the business owner, was 10 minutes late to the class and then she started the class an hour late and only checking in like six students. There were barely any students there. So an hour of teaching time was wasted because she was lollygagging. As the instructor sat down to start teaching the class, she kept stopping to text message somebody and I don't know if it was her boyfriend, but she had a huge smile on her face, Every time she was texting somebody. She did not answer questions that I had for her. She kept saying that those questions weren't necessary to answer because they weren't on the test. I paid almost $400 to take that class. I would much appreciate if you answer the questions that I have, regardless, if it's on the test or not. And then, when I finally passed the exam after having to take it a second time and after having to purchase an online Notary course by EZ Notary. I spoke to the owner on the phone and asked how can I get the rest of my supplies which is a journal, my bond and my seal. She said I would have to pay for the shipping since I don't live around there and I'm not willing to go get it in person to pick up the supplies. Her team or her emailed me the invoice for the shipment, it was $31, just to ship my bond and then I would have to pay for a second shipment for the rest of my supplies. Talk about ripping students off. Another thing is you have to pay for parking. when I called before I placed the order I asked her assistant or her front desk person do I have to pay for parking, he said no that we can get it validated for you. But nobody wanted to validate the ticket unless you bought something in that building. The parking was $20. Do not pay to take the in person class and do not pay for any other Notary course from her. She is a horrible instructor. I would not waste your time or your money. There is a much better chance passing the exam through someone else online course. Good luck!
