I used to say "I hate acting classes" far too much. Since I started taking classes at Warner Loughlin Studios I have not repeated those words. Positivity, support, warmth, and encouragement engulf the studio and take each student on creative and inspiring journeys in and out of class. Each class has a different energy and a different dynamic, but the teachers do an amazing job at placing you in the class that is best fit for you. I am in Keith's class on Wednesday night and it is a highlight of my week. Every student listens and responds with encouragement and love. Our class specifically is fun and relaxing but come time to work, every one steps up and gives their best. It is a great dynamic because it makes everyone feel safe but also loved for who he or she is as a person. I finally feel like I have a supportive community of actors. Warner's technique is smart, effective, creative, specific and awakening. My imagination surprises me constantly so I never feel like I am "stuck" as an actress. The discoveries I make every week prove to me that I am always growing because the work you do in an out of class requires focus and passion and pure love for the craft. I feel so grounded in the technique so whether I have had a horrible week or the best day, I can count on performing with a base that never lets me down. I am reassured while boldly moving forward. Since I have started using this technique, I have found much more faith in myself as an artist. Even when I am hard on myself, I know that my homework and preparation will always break through the self criticism. I feel a sense of freedom as an actress that I never experienced before. The technique is refreshing because it requires you to put in good solid work so when you perform, the character's life and story comes alive. The characters are the real inspirations. Finally, I feel like I create truthful energy in the midst of another's story. Every week, class gives me something to strive for and gives an artistic purpose while trying to survive in a cutthroat and superficial business. I have not had class with Warner, but I have coached with her and she is so wonderful. She has created a beautiful community and I am honored to be part of this community. Keith is absolutely incredible as my teacher. I coach with him regularly. Sometimes I think he knows me better than I know myself. haha. Each person is on their own level of work and gets specific feedback and direction from the intuition and knowledge from Keith. This is the kind of attention and focus and care that goes into the studio from Warner and the teachers to the students and then back into the world! The Technique Coming from a theatre background, with a B.A. in theatre performance, I joined the studio already a pretty strong actor. But when I began using Warner's technique, the quality of my acting took leaps and bounds. It truly works better than any other technique or method I have encountered. Come audit a class at the studio to see what it's about. The Community Warner is one of the most wonderful people you will ever meet. She's always around and a hug from Warner will light up your day. Within her acting studio, she has fostered a community that leaves ego at the door, encourages the mentality that we thrive as group, and, above all else, makes the classroom a safe place to work. Warner takes great care in selecting other teachers at the studio. They all go through an extensive teacher training program. Warner has filled her studio with caring, competent teachers who are all working actors. I am in Keith's Thursday night class; he is such an amazing teacher; he is incredibly supportive; and he really knows the ins and outs of the industry, which makes a him a great guide in this crazy business. The Resources Warner and the other teachers want nothing more than for all of the students to succeed. Warner has gone to great lengths to provide as many resources as possible to make that happen. The studio has an extensive library with film/tv scripts, plays, and dialect CD's. Private coaching is always available (even after hours) for auditions. The studio has an on-camera taping room for when you have to tape an audition, with top-of-the-line equipment. And while the ongoing classes are scene study classes, the studio offers a slew of opportunities to focus on everything from improv to voice and movement to the business and marketing of being an actor. I have been studying with Warner for ten years now and there is no person I would rather spend a decade with than this wonderful, inspirational woman. She has created a safe place for actors to learn and grow and support one another. I have taken other classes that I have enjoyed, but with this studio, I truly feel I have a family. In my class, I have made life long friends. We root for each other on a level that I have never witnessed in any other class. Acting as a business can be competitive and cruel, so it's nice to have a place to go where your peers are genuinely happy for you when you are doing well. This studio IS warm and inviting and it's all a reflection of the tremendous heart of a woman... Warner Loughlin. And in response to RE's review... there are no discounts given for reviews and the master class has 20 people in it - three of which are teachers at the studio. They were in the master class before becoming a teacher. They become teachers because they have been practicing the technique for many years and have the ability to share it with others. And I have done makeups in ALL the classes and am beyond impressed with the level of talent in each and every class. So, yes, it may take time to be placed in the master class (seems you gave it all of a whole month) but being in ANY of the classes is a place for you to learn and grow in the technique at your own pace. Enjoy the journey... it's not always just about the end result. This studio is a place filled with positive energy and it seems maybe it's not the right fit for you. For over a decade I've studied with Warner. I can't think of a reason to stay in any school or class for that long unless it's an amazing place to be. Unlike many coaches, Warner is not a "cult leader" of devotees worshiping the ground she walks on. She is egoless, and simply loves watching her students grow and flourish in their careers. I've been in the studio since its early days, when it was just Warner, and 20 or so of us, and - like the actors in the studio - Warner has grown, and her technique has been fine-tuned and refined, again and again. This gives a technique that is as useful for the born actor, as it is for the neophyte, wanting to learn how to portray humanity. Above all, Warner's studio IS safe, it's not about destroying the actor in order to feed the teacher's ego. It's about nurturing talent and giving them the tools to deepen their performances, without being psychologically destructive. As for the negative review below, I can only say I'm sorry that happened to the young woman who wrote it, and I hope she finds a place where her bruised ego doesn't get buffeted against the rocks of the many disturbed and cruel teachers in this city. Warner is brilliant and kind, the other teachers are truly caring about their students (I've talked to each of them specifically about this, and they repeat over and over how seriously they take their roles as teachers) and the new studio space is a great place to be. Talk smack if you want to, but perhaps our own egos do get in the way of how we perceive things sometimes. read more

I found Warner Loughlin Studios after reading an article about AMY ADAMS in Vanity Fair Magazine. The way Amy described how Warner Loughlin helped her break past her inhibitions as an actor, inspired me to check it out. I was having the same struggle in my craft because I always felt I could only play "certain types" of characters. Thanks to Warner Loughlin Studios, I now know that is ridiculous! I may not necessarily be "cast" as certain characters, but my strength as an actor should never be limited to what my "casting is". Warner has taught me to be an artist and a craftsman of my craft. Her technique is UNRIVALED in the world of traditional approaches to acting. I have attended MANY top named acting schools in LA, and NEVER have I experienced a place of complete community, challenge, positive energy, encouragement and EGO-LESS training. This is not a "school, it's a "STUDIO", where actors come to GROW, THRIVE and BE CHALLENGED in their work. I will never do the "acting teacher shuffle" again. I have found the "REAL DEAL" in Warner Loughlin. It is hard work, but shouldn't it be after all? The work speaks for itself. "Warner actors" are quickly becoming some of the most well respected, sought after actors in the business! Finally, a place I can call home!!! I can't begin to express how much I love Warner and her ROCKSTAR technique. I've been a student for almost 2 years and I can tell you that I would never leave. Warner has created a safe place for me to explore, make mistakes and leave my ego at the door where it belongs. I love that the studio in perfectly placed in Hollywood, amazingly spacious with several private rooms to get work done AND a giant sized library....wait did I mention the prop room, holla!!! I look forward to class every single week! The work done in Erin Cardillo's class is seriously out of this world. We are all deeply invested in each other's growth. Not only do we push each other analytically and emotionally, we truly support one another in our lives and in our craft. The studio offers private coaching for auditions, life coaching, improv drop-ins and voice and movement workshops. The studio is always open to it's students... a place to rest between auditions, a script library to spark new ideas, a taping room and private rooms to work on material. I absolutely adore this studio. It is my home away from home. If you are an actor who genuinely loves their craft and who wants to work... really work, then I recommend it highly. I attended one of the country's best theater schools for undergrad and it was a great experience. However, I never learned an actual acting technique that I could trust and truly rely upon. I was dependent upon my director & fellow actors to "give me what I needed" in rehearsal & in performance. The problem being that in the real world of this industry we rarely have the luxury of rehearsal or a director who has the time to help us develop our character or carve out a scene. Warner's technique is empowering to the actor. I am still in awe and I have been in class for 4 years now. This technique works for me every time. A true community... I can't say enough wonderful things about this place. I had some good experiences at other studios in town, but when I found this place, I knew I was home. Not only is Warner's technique incredible, effective and reliable, but Warner herself is just the warmest most lovable person you ever want to meet. This studio I fell in love with. I have been to a lot of acting schools, some great places too, but this one IS very different!! The woman who started the school, Warner, is one of the most loving people I have ever met in life, not just the "acting world"! The teachers are great, intelligent working actors too. I can not say enough good things about the studio. Prior to coming to Warner Loughlin Studios, I didn't know anything about acting, for example I didn't know what sides or headshots were. The studio took me in and gave me a very nurturing environment to explore and grow my craft. Love WLS! I had searched around town for a scene study class after graduating from USC's Theatre program. Warner and her studio both really stood out. I have been there for almost three years and can't imagine leaving. It's rare to find such a supportive environment AND such talented people.
