Needing to have some alterations done to a new suit I had just bought to attend a special event, I visited several alterations and dry cleaning businesses that I knew about because of their central location and expensive advertising to get their name out there. All of them charged exuberant amount of money to have what I needed done, as well as having to outsource the job, and taking much too long to have it done. Then, all of a sudden, I remembered a little place I once saw as I was driving by the Colonial Office Center. It was located in one of three small businesses at the end of the parking lot to this Office Center. And I thought to myself: "Sometimes amazing things come in small packages." So I decided to travel on the road less traveled, in this case beyond the parking lot, and to this small building that housed the Sun's Alterations & Dry Cleaning business. This is where I met a very kind and hospitable lady who's main concern was solving my problem of getting my new suit tailored and ironed on time to attend my special event. Since all their alterations are done on the premises by a professional tailor with 26 years of experience, she told me it could be done and quoted me a very reasonable price. Who would ever have imagined that in this humble, little store, hidden behind a large Office building, I found the solution to my problem provided by a wonderful and warm Korean family-owned business. Since then I have always gone there for all my alterations and dry cleaning needs, and recommend the place to family and friends. Today, when I visited the place to take some photographs to accompany this review, I had the privilege to also meet the husband of the family and their older son, and to personally thank them for the great contribution that they are making to the community of the Star City of Roanoke, Virginia. I'm like what happened to the $30 I was quoted? I got an immediate attitude and when I went over there they play the amnesia game. "We have never done pants for less than $12". Well, that may be the case, but you certainly told me it was $5 each. Even if you meant each leg, it was still not what you quoted. They did decent work but the job doubled in price- buyer beware. My fault for not having her write it down at the time she quoted it. Buyer beware- avoid unless necessary.

(The same one she ripped out of her 83 year old hands the day before when she picked her two suits up, and didn't return!). Mom was told it could be fixed for an additional $40-50. She had already paid $72 for hemming two skirts and "taking in" a jacket. One skirt was still NOT hemmed, was still too long and just had the waistband elastic replaced. The one jacket was so badly altered she now has a humpback protrusion at the left should blade and cannot wear it at all now! We will NOT be going back!
