Phenomenal service! I was able to walk right into the business and receive prompt service without having to make an appointment. There are nice changing rooms and the seamstress quickly marked my 2 suits (coats & pants), I received my pickup ticket, and I was told it would be 1 week to both tailor and dry clean my new suits. It was a little pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for. 2 suits altered and dry cleaned for $169.50. Nevertheless, this was a special occasion for me since my daughter was about to graduate from JMU, so I was very glad that they were able to help me look sharp and proper for her graduation events. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! I brought my maid of honor dress to Chong's for alterations two weeks ago. When the alterations were finished, I went back to try on the dress and noticed a large, dark, textured stain on the front of my dress that was not there previously. I asked the woman what happened and she told me it wasn't them and it must have been my fault. After asking multiple times what they did to stain my dress, she insisted I had done it and just didn't notice. When I first dropped my dress off for alterations there was no stain, and I even tried it on in front of the woman in the mirror, where I would have seen a stain. They lied to my face and blamed this mistake on me and still made me pay for the alterations even though my dress was ruined. This was the most unbelievable, unprofessional, and upsetting experience I have ever had, and as someone who lives 6 hours away and doesn't know local businesses very well, it has been very difficult to fix this mistake. If they had been honest and apologized for their mistake, I would have respected them and dealt with it, but they lied to me and blamed the ruining of my dress on me. Did a great job altering my wedding dress on a tight timeline. They were able to take the zipper out and replace it with a corset back that I had brought with me. Super flexible and easy to work with. read more

If you are in need of alterations I highly recommend Chong's Tailoring. I needed uniform pants, skirt, vest and jackets taken in. All items fit so nice. There is no better feeling than to feel confident in what you are wearing. Especially when you are at work representing your corporation. Remember you get what you pay for and Chongs is worth every dollar. read more

As a JMU student, I usually go back home to get all of my coats and suits tailored. However, I was stuck in a position where going back to NoVA wasn't an option. Out of desperation I looked around Harrisonburg and came across this establishment. I was surprised at the ratings and decided to give it a shot. I got my sleeves and waist tailored and the lady definitely came through big time. Not too tight but just that classy fit I always go for. Not to mention...it's cheaper than the place I go to in NoVA. I plan on doing more business with this place with my other coats! read more

I stopped in to see if they could fix two zippers on a cross body bag silk purse. A wonderful lady was able to fix them very quickly.

The best tailoring place in the state of VA. Not just in Harrisonburg. But in the entire VA, I've been to a few different stores, but the quality is no where near Chong's (during my time living in Fairfax, I've checked out other places in the Northern Virginia - DC area). They custom-made on of my favorite denim jacket ever - I brought in an old piece of thrifted Levi's jeans jacket, with a cool piece of fabric I found elsewhere, then I asked them if I can put the fabric on the back and back of collar areas of the jacket to have a nice customized pop of patterns and color on the back of the denim. To my surprise, they nailed it. Stitching and detailed tailoring were on point. In addition, i've tailored more than a dozen pairs of jeans and pants here, along with dress shirt, and all of them fitted super nicely, and all held up very well. They do not over charge anyone either. The quality and services really make it worth your every penny. If you want a dirt-cheap alteration place, don't even bother come here and ruin their reputation. Perhaps ask some one you know that can help you quickly hem your pants or shorten your sleeves for free instead. At Chong's they are human beings and they need to eat too, but with the fair value that they charge you for the work, they put their heart and artistry into your clothing items for sure - to make them look GOOD on you, not to just chop off pieces of fabric and sew them back together. I had them replace a broken zipper on my coat a few years back and it was returned good as new and the stitching hasn't fallen apart since. More recently, I had them tailor a couple of suits and they were perfect. Basic alterations are inexpensive, such as hemming pant legs or replacing broken zippers. It was a little more expensive to have both of my suit jackets tailored (sleeves pulled up, waist pulled back), but I think it's fairly standard. For the price you're paying to have your clothes tailored here, you're going to get what you want, and you're going to have it done by really nice people. read more

I've gone to Chong's for years and have had many things done: hemming, had pants, shirts and jackets taken in, and most recently had chair cushion covers made with zippers-they were very tailored and made perfectly. They are very skilled and knowledgeable and I'm confident they could do any job. You get what you pay for. read more

I took my vintage fur coat to Chong's to get the shoulder pads removed. It was a bit too puffy in the shoulder area. I was very nervous about taking it there, but was pleasantly surprised when I went in a day earlier to check up on the progress of my coat alteration and it was ready for pick up. It looks great! I am so happy with the results. I can't wait to wear it in NYC . They did a great job! read more

I used this lady to dry clean a formal gown. I was in no hurry to get it back, so I let her have it for 3 business days. Impeccable service, and pleasant personnel. I will continue to use this shop for dry cleaning and alterations. read more
