There is no price tag that can repay him for helping me transform from sad and feeling hopeless in a challenging long-term marriage to now being happy, strong, energetic, goal-oriented, and enthusiastic about life. I am my "old self" once again. That is priceless. I am of Hispanic-American ethnicity, and seeking therapy is a cultural "taboo" in my family. Yet, after over 22 years in a very difficult marriage and extreme unhappiness I knew that I needed professional help that could help me get clarity. It was with trepidation that I entered his office, and I immediately realized that Dr. Monkarsh was professional, an excellent listener, genuine, compassionate and yet straight-forward in a gentle manner. He asked me open-ended questions, without judgment, that made me think of my situation and how I could solve challenges. Because I am a task-oriented individual, he gave me weekly assignments and we picked up from there each session. It was not easy to do the soul-searching and face hard areas of my life, but he never gave up on me and he genuinely cared. He was a non-biased clinical psychologist who was honest with me, even when it was difficult. He was the confidential professional that I needed to help me transform my life. I felt safe, respected and not alone. Dr. Monkarsh is now working with my 23-year old daughter and he is helping her with the same care and professionalism he offered me as his past patient. As a mom, I am extremely grateful for the help he is providing her and I feel relieved and at peace that my daughter is receiving his services. My daughter and I do not discuss their sessions and I respect her privacy, yet I see the positive changes in her life through her work with Dr. Monkarsh as well. I am fortunate to have been Dr. Monkarsh's patient. My only regret is that I had not worked with him decades before.

Not only has he helped me gain confidence in my medical condition, but he allows my mom to sit in on every session. Gary is a speedy guy like me. To be honest, I don't want to go to therapy, I just want to feel better on my own. However, I can't fix everything by myself. So, I hired Dr. Monkarsh to repair my mental illness. He believes in safe practice. He has never suggested any medication or treatments that are harmful.

Even worse, Anson Service diagnosed my relative with somatization ("minor" aches & pains & exaggerated health anxiety/obsession) when said relative has FIBROMYALGIA! I experienced some personal trauma that I needed assistance with processing, and I was so impressed by how quickly Adventure Psychological Services and Dr. Neeley took action to help me be seen right away. I had called over ten Vancouver and Portland-based counseling offices, and was so impressed with the response I received from Adventure Psychological Services. Both Genevieve and Dr. Neeley at Adventure Psychological Services have gone above and beyond to assist me throughout the process of starting therapy, and have made everything as stress free as possible. Genevieve has been so helpful with all of my administrative questions and concerns, and has been so patient in helping me through the process of starting therapy under personally challenging circumstances. Dr. Neeley is down to earth, incredibly easy to talk to, and has provided me with valuable resources to aid in my self care and treatment. He provides a warm, calming atmosphere in which I feel safe and able to express myself comfortably and without any judgement. I feel so grateful that I found a therapist I worked well with right away, and am thankful to already be making progress in dealing with my personal trauma. I highly recommend Adventure Psychological Services and Dr. Benjamin Neeley.

One thing I really liked is that he had experienced the pain of being with a borderline personality disordered person himself, but really seemed to have healed and was really great at his own self work. He always offered me tea or water when I got there, & gave me tissues when I needed to cry, which was very much needed & appreciated. Sometimes the little things make all the difference in the world. He was able to empathize as well as encourage me to think rationally about so many situations. A master at breaking things down, he is truly the best of the best. Aaron, if you're reading this, I love you brother. Thank you so much for the support through the hardest times in my life. I'm feeling a power & energy like I've never felt. I've never had a more consistent positive experience during the rough patches of life. Looking back at my life before I started seeing Aaron makes me shudder; I can't stress enough how much better my life has gotten through my work with him. I will continue to recommend him to anyone who is struggling and genuinely wants to get better.

A year and a half ago, I started seeing Claire and immediately realized that I had found something new. Compassion, trust, accountability, and a strong desire to help me be successful. She allows a natural progression through emotions, conversation, and action items. Therapy requires work, and sometimes we feel discouraged from continuing. Claire makes treatment feel like a mental serum for self-confidence, accomplishment, and motivation. I am a massive supporter of therapy and self-care. I am the best version of myself today because of my work with Claire. I am still working on things in my life, which I believe is a continuous process. Claire has become my grounding point for emotional and physical change in my life. If you are considering therapy or need a change, Claire Colaco is someone I highly recommend. Be kind to yourself. Besides the first couple of years of seeing specialist for the hard reason of why we were separated, we started seeing Dan Bates in October of 2017 & he has been AMAZING for us!!! I love how even when things were "going well", Dan would help us to navigate our experience & figure out why & what tools we could learn to use to help us to stay "doing well". He also helped us a lot with "family of orgin" which is what would cause us to feel disconnected from each other during certain times/situations when really it turned out to be miscommunication/interpration of things said/done based on what our home life was like growing up. Another great thing he has introduced us to doing is "halts". This is where we take moments throughout our day to tune into ourselves to figure out how we are feeling emotionally/physicall. If anyone is in the Vancouver/Camas WA area, & looking for an amazing counselor (for couples or personal), I so recommend Dan. His feedback/tips & insight are amazing. Here is his site: https://lacamascounseling.com/counselors/daniel-bates/ & the counseling office: https://www.facebook.com/lacamascounseling/ I've also seen Samantha there as well.
