You will typically find me here to buy chorizo but when my husband comes in, all bets are off and we end up buying half of the store! When you walk in, to the left are the sweets (mantecadas, gansitos, principe etc.) and chips (churritos, rancheritos, crujitos etc.). It literally feels like a little piece of heaven. Then, there are isles with all kinds of Mexican canned and jarred goods, cueritos, jello mixes, rompope, sodas. There are fresh chiles and all kinds of cooking supplies (molcajete, vaporero etc.) Towards the back are refrigerators where the vegetables, quesos, meats (chorizo, longaniza), pre-made jellos and avocados are all kept. Recently, they started carrying fresh tortillas, bread, home made potato chips and pan dulce. One time we went and they had fresh bunuelos....to die for! They also make their own tamales (rojo, verde and rajas). I've tried the rojo and verde and the verde is THE best I've had in the area and I will definitely go here to get it from now on! Word to the wise: the tamales are only available on Saturdays and Sundays and start at 8:00AM. If you go too late, they will run out!

Their 18 year barrel aged Traditional balsamic and the Denissimo specialty balsamic with a rich lingering flavor. She bottled a fresh Denissimo for us and we went home to make our salad. The drizzle of this balsamic elevated our caprese salad and our charcuterie board. If you get the chance to visit Mount Holly on a weekend, be sure to visit Blue Moon, you will not be disappointed. It sits in the crotch of Morrisville, Pa., and directly behind La Villa, a decent Italian restaurant that used to be a Pizza Hut back in the day. I saw their sign for Italian Hot Dogs, and being an aficionado of this locally created sandwich masterpiece, I was very curious about how Sam put his together. This is the definitive dive beer walkaway joint. I went back to the smushed together tables in the back and took a seat facing the door after ordering through the small window in the wall that separated the kitchen from the hoi polloi. While waiting I found a cold bottle of Pineapple Juice Soda, something rare to most fast foods around here. The doubled paper plate arrived with a large Italian roll loaded with a fat frank, chunky fried potato, green pepper, onion and smears of hot mustard that had dried somewhat in the oven, making it into an interesting coating on the food. The taste was quite good, especially the sausage which was heavy with garlic and retained its juiciness. Gotta admit, I really liked it. Prices - Ridiculously cheap! Sam's is on the borderland between dive and dump. Still, if you don't mind, the extremis atmosphere will not bother you. Just be sure to get out of town before sundown. Sam's crew just might be night wolves.
