I am not a big sandwich person, but it turns out that Sandwiches are Perfect for someone being On Call, because it doesn't have to be hot/heated for you to eat it. (Won't say where)...The last hospital that I served, had an incredibly awful cafeteria. One of my favorite items (from a prior hospital) was the "Chicken Fingers". Sooo...I got some at my next hospital...They were So Hard, that as I was eating them with a plastic fork...I noticed that One of the Tines was Missing(!!)...I didn't notice the texture/hardness difference between the crust and the tine! Enter Jersey Mike's. (when you are on call, you can be interrupted at any time, so if you don't have to prepare, and the food remains in the same condition when you return, that is perfect). I enjoyed MANY Subs in my last year there. To be clear...I have enjoyed THIS store's subs many times since as well. The Folks are friendly, prepare proper sandwiches, indulge some likes and dislikes (more this, less that) without issue...the store is CLEAN. The veggies are fresh. The folks are well trained, and efficient as they prepare multiple orders without problems. THIS is my sandwich store. Jersey Mike's subs is one of my favorite chain, however, at this location in University Place, who became my least favorite. Customer service service was slow at making a salad bowl, more than proportion with the vegetables. We asked if there was to go salad dressing packets. The response was mustard and ketchup packages. Who eats that on their salad? The second sandwich was the hot Italian. After the sandwich was wrapped., we had to ask for toppings to be added such as lettuce, tomatoes, etc. That was visually sloppy and tasted horrible. I recommend that you go to any other Jersey Mike's in Pierce County except this one. It took over 20 minutes and we were the only customers in the stores read more

Located next to Whole Foods this location is newer with a modern and clean interior. I ordered on the app and my order was ready when I arrived. I usually get a cold cut sandwich and I like the fresh cut deli meat they use and the generous portions. Today I tried a hot sub and it was disappointed. I ordered the famous Philly cheesesteak and it came with very little steak! $11.99 plus tax for a regular size sandwich and I was still hungry. Philly cheese steak ,you do something really nasty to the Philly cheese steak sandwich, not sure but I think you add sauce to the green pepper and onions. Very nasty threw up sandwich. Very nasty. Will never come in jerseys mikes again. Very bad, and that bacon was made in the morning, and your still serving it at 845pm at night. That isnt good. Very nasty, and to not have it covered all day. I will put a stop to that tomorrow. Even if you kept it warm, still not ok. Very poor service.. Also this needs to be refunded, and no I'm not driving back to this location. We are always treated nicely by the manager and the other young people who work at Jersey Mike's in University Place, WA. But Jersey Mike's is expensive. It is, however, worth the price when you compare it to other sandwich shops, as Jersey Mike's is exceptional. There's no getting around the fact that it costs more than Subway; Jimmy John's is also spendy. We rarely indulge in the luxury of going to Jersey Mike's. But for a real treat, it is at the top of our list. Once you register with Jersey Mike's online -- simply by providing your phone number at checkout -- you will begin to accrue reward points that will eventually lead to receiving a FREE sandwich of your choice. We were delighted to discover that we had built-up enough points that we were able to receive BOTH sandwiches FREE! Because of that, we also bought the massive chocolate chunk cookies, and chips. I love Miss Vickie's Salt & Vinegar potato chips. My husband always enjoys the Garden Salsa one from Sun Chips. And we both LOVE the brand of STUBBORN soft drinks that are offered including Root Beer, which is our favorite. The drinks are available in cans or from the self-serve soda dispenser. My husband and I each ordered our favorite sandwich, The Number 9 -- CLUB SUPREME, which happens to be the same one, even with all of the other possible combinations that are available. The only difference between his and mine is that he likes his to be prepared "Mike's Way" which is the standard for basic toppings. In contrast, I like "some of everything." Yes, literally every single thing they make available as sandwich toppings including the vinegar and oil. Exactly what I would expect from a JM franchise. The entire staff as friendly and quick with service. Gavin did a good job at making my subs, just like I'd get back at home at the Jersey Shore. Although I've been going to JM since the 1980's, I've never gotten a Philly cheesesteak since they are awesome at the boardwalks. However, I decided to try one and it was very good! I will NEVER be back to this location. 6 people working and not a single one said "Welcome in" or even acknowledge the 4 of us standing in line. The older blonde lady running the meat slicer was barking orders at the younger employees and seemed annoyed about everything. I ordered a # 26 (chicken, baconnamd ranch regular hold the dressing. I checked in using the Yelp app and received a reward. Free "combo" (chips and drink) with the purchase of a sandwich (which I ordered). The blond lady said, "I don't know what Yelp is and without an actual barcode to scan the offer isn't valid" when I attempted to explain she cut me off mid sentence and walked away saying "Call Yelp and get a coupon, I have work to do " then went back to slicing meat. I love this sandwich shop. Good location in the cute town center of UP with so many businesses to shop for. Every time I go to Jersey Mikes they don't disappoint me. The sandwich is a good size for a good price. I tried the Big Kahuna Cheese Steak, and I loved it. My daughter had the Ranch Chicken, and she liked it very much. It's a bit on the pricey side, but the freshness is worth the price. Everything here is made to order, and you can taste it. The shop is clean and well-staffed. There was one right across the street from where we lived in NC and since we got here I had not seen one until now. I hate subway period end of discussion I REFUSE to eat Subway. What I like about Jersey Mike's is simple... they actually slice the meat and cheese fresh onto your sandwich as you order it. Thats it PERIOD. I love that its that fresh. Is it more expensive than Subway? a little bit, but when you consider quality vs quantity then clearly Jersey Mike's wins for me. I typically eat a regular Number six with lettuce, tomato, mayo oregano. Thats the standing order, but I do add onions and peppers on occasion. This is not a place that has 100 toppings but they offer the basics and thats good enough for me. Quality meats do not need to be smothered in toppings in my opinion. You do have the option to order extra meat for a charge or extra cheese for a charge. I have also been known to get a giant and eat it for dinner/lunch/breakfast the next day ...(remember its like a HUGE sub 16 inches I think) I have also had the Pastrami, also good but I do not typically get a hot sandwich unless I plan on eating there. While we're usually fans of Jersey Mike's, our visit to this location was sub-par. The main reason was the bread. It seemed like it was a day old. If in fact they make it fresh daily, something was wrong. It was very dry and the outer crust cracked and crumbled. Other than that it was typical Jersey Mike's. This was my second visit to Jersey Mike's since they move into this location so been a long time. The reason I was not a return customer was they weighed the meat. I know not a big deal but if your a slice over and you pull it out in front of me, I was like what the hell. My visit this time was great the staff greeted me took my order and make the sandwich to perfection (and no scale). The sandwich was very filling and I only ordered the regular and could have split that or ordered the mini. The meat, cheese, bread and veggies all looked and tasted fresh. They also have 2 televisions so for a quick lunch and not missing a game was pretty cool. Even though more spendy here, they are good. *If you love bacon, get the Club with Turkey which has it already* *Bacon nice and crispy as it should be* Side note: If you like cheesesteaks.. the Big Kahuna is bom..add bacon and ask for their hidden chipotle or spicy mayo. I don't recall which one it is exactly, but they don't keep it out. You have to ask for it. If you have celiac, this is the place for you! They have Udi's gluten free bread, and they even wipe everything down before making your sandwich to prevent cross-contamination. Been twice, both times getting the Philly Cheese Steak. The first time was better than the second, which seems strange for the exact same thing being ordered. We noticed the first time that the guy making our sandwich cooked the steak from a raw form and it took about 9 mins before it was set before us. We were impressed by that. The sub was so loooooong, so we were glad to have shared it. Unless you enter hot dog eating contests or binge/vomit, do not get a whole one for yourself. It will become crow food. Second time we grabbed a PCS it was on our table in 4 minutes...how did they do that? Well, the steak this time tasted as though it were precooked and reheated. I didn't enjoy that at all. If meats cooked fresh, I can taste that. We let them know afterward and were assured it was indeed grilled fresh from a raw state. But I can't help thinking I know what reheated meat tastes like, being a picky cook myself and hating when I have to reheat a hamburger for a late family member, etc. I'd have felt better if they would have said something like "yeah, for a lunch rush hour, we grill the steak in advance"...because I just can't reconcile how they got me that sandwich as quick when there were a few people waiting for their sandwiches when I placed the order. They even know my allergies as I walk in. My regular sandwiches are known. I am treated like I own the place. However, I watch their interactions with other customers. So are they. The place is in a newly built (a few years old?) strip by the University Place library on Bridgeport. Parking is annoying. Most of the time I can't find a spot or I get lucky and have to squeeze a Jeep into my pocket to park. The cheesesteaks are ok. It's not Philadelphia but it's ok for out here. I recommend the Chicka-phila-roni, the #99, or the #4. All 3 are off the menu. They'll know what they are. It's good, but I always felt like jersey mikes is overpriced for their sandwiches. When whole foods sandwiches cost less than yours, there is a problem with prices. Either way, we enjoyed having our lunch here. Place is clean, no fuss. Their meats are slices freshly, we ordered the famous roast beef and provolone (make sure to get the oil!! It needs it) and the famous Italian. Lots of meat and cheese, next time I'm getting the famous Italian as well. Parking is free, convenient location in university place. This place just opened and it's now one of my favorite places to get a sub. The people that work there are very personable and kind. Their regular subs are even more filling than subway and a million times better tasting as well with better prices even for how fresh their ingredients are. I ordered the original Italian and they cut the meat and cheeses right in front of you and put on the fresh toppings that you want. The bread is extremely flavorful and squishy. I will definitely be a regular at this place. Only complaint is the extremely limited parking nearby but that's definitely not their problem. read more

Heeeeeyyyyy Miikkkiiiiieeeeee!!! Soooo. This is a hard one to crack. On one hand, the subs are overall pretty good. I get the steak and cheese giant size with everything. For a sub the size of my thigh, pretty good price. Downside is there is something weird with the cheese. Just don't taste right. Becomes waxy at the end and totally throws off my taste buds and ruins my food coma. Not sure, BUT I keep going back thinking its me. Tried a different sandwich with same cheese and got the same result. Portion size was fine, taste was good, just the cheese issue again! Awesome location in the plaza, quick service too.
