Very clean store and friendly staff. They took my gluten allergy seriously and did a wonderful job preparing my meal.

This food truck may be based out of Siler City, but it's been making the rounds in the triangle in…read morethose places where you can always find a food truck. Can't say I knew for sure what to expect given the name, but paninis are its specialty. I guess it depends on your concept of what a panini should be: thin bread, toasted crispy on the outside, meat or cheeses or veggies (or all), on the inside. . . if that's it, then this is it. I had the Cuban, and it's the first food truck sandwich I've had where the bread didn't overwhelm the filling. Maybe because they used ciabatta, or maybe it's because they pressed it when they were heating it. Either way, the crispiness of the bread together with the meat and cheese made one heck of a good sandwich. Nothing overpowered the other. There was a generous portion of brisket, ham, pickles, mustard, and swiss cheese. If I had to find one ding, and I mention it only hesitantly given personal preference: the mustard. It added the right amount of flavor, but could have been cut by a third or so and the sandwich would have been even better. The truck itself is unusual for most food trucks. The wood sides with the panels separated by what look like colorful fishing poles (but aren't) looks like something you'd find at a camp or a hunting lodge. It's unassuming. If paninis aren't your thing, World Kitchen also has wraps and salads. It might be worth exploring further.

Sir Pizza is iconic to a certain part of the piedmont. It's hard to describe if you haven't had it…read morebut it's a thin crust, no edge pizza where the toppings are the focus. It's similar to Bill's Pizza which is a tradition nearby as well. I've heard it's some kind of Midwestern Tavern style but I don't know it's origin. What I do know is there is not much like it in North Carolina or even around the south. Some people don't fall in love with it for some reason but if you like it, there is nothing else that hits the same spot as Sir Pizza, you will be back. The Siler City location isn't the best location to get Sir Pizza but it's consistent and generally pretty good. The crust here is a little thicker than at the older locations. It don't know if that's a choice or just something that happens here but in this pizza it does make a (negative) difference. However, even not being as good as the locations elsewhere in the area, it's still Sir Pizza and it's a 5 star all the time in my book. The pizza is great: if you like loaded up toppings get one of the meat or veggie lovers and you will be happy. If you aren't into pizza, the spaghetti is kind of unique to Sir Pizza but is a really tasty treat as well. It's pretty American so don't expect a very Italian spaghetti dish, and if you understand that I think you will like it.

TLDR: Skip the trip and go to Bojangles instead…read more Don't waste your time here. Ordering is a hassle since communication through the speakers is poor (and not just through ours). Food takes about 20 minutes to arrive at your car. Plus it's poor quality for the price. We ordered popcorn chicken, pretzel twist, ice cream, tator tots, and mozzarella sticks. The tator tots were the highlight of the meal. The popcorn chicken would have been better plain, but the options were Buffalo or Honey BBQ sauce. We chose Buffalo hoping it would be on the side. No luck, the chicken was covered in Buffalo sauce. It was not good and unfortunately was discarded. We ended up driving straight to Bojangles after for chicken. The pretzel twist was warm, soft, salty, and greasy, overall not bad. Ice cream and mozzarella sticks were okay. I do like how easy the menu is to read, paying by card through the kiosk, and how they display the items ordered as you request them. This allowed us to correct the errors. After correcting during the ordering process, our meal was accurate. The employee who brought it to our car was enthusiastic and friendly.

Slinging burgers in a tiny place like Siler City since the 1940s?! Well you gotta be doing…read moresomething right to achieve community institution status like that, and I finally had the good fortune to be in the area of this spot during their limited hours... so I had to stop in. Johnson's doesn't look like it has changed much since it first came to be. Fairly tiny on the inside, and showing a lot of wear on the outside, it's got the look and charm of a place that has spanned over 75 years of service. That said even though it is dated, the inside looked nice and clean to me. There is lunch counter seating, that if you are a tall individual, might be a tight fit for you, but the booths aren't going to be any better. So after jamming my knee into the wall under the counter, I achieved a fine degree of man-spread, and was reasonably OK after that. From my seat at the counter, I had a perfect view of their process and burgers sizzling on the flat-top grill. Each burger hits the hot top with a sizzle, is smashed down (but not quite to smashburger thin-ness), gets flipped, is adorned with a thick chunk of Velveeta cheese, and gets half a bun on top to let it steam up real good. The other half the bun is to the left, where a dedicated person is assembling all the toppings. When ready, they put the halves together, wrap it up, and send it your way. Fast and efficient, but all patties are 100% cooked to order. I also got a hot dog all the way, order of fries, and a fully sweet tea as they were out of unsweet. They were also out of pickles, and don't do grilled onions, negatives for me because I like my first try to be simple. grilled onions, pickles, burger sauce if available. They also charge extra for lettuce and tomato. I just went ahead and had my burger made the same way as my hot dog, all the way. It made for one hell of a mess, but it was delicious. I definitely enjoyed my meal, but to be honest, neither the burger or the hot dog would rank in my top 5 in the state. Doesn't really matter, as at the end of the day, I would certainly come back here because I am sure it's the best burger in the area, and given the amount of burgers and hot dogs I have eaten being "outside the top 5" doesn't mean you're doing poorly. Cash only, so come prepared, but definitely come!

I was surprised how busy it was at 10:30am and all the to go orders they were getting. I was warmly greeted when I arrived and told I could sit anywhere I wanted. I sat at the bar as I didn't want to take up a booth. Then I could watch the action. I could tell that regulars frequent the burger shop as they knew most people by name and what they ordered. The owner passed away a few weeks ago. I could sense something happened from some of the conversations with the regulars. He left a legacy that his parents started with the simple menu and the quality beef. My cheeseburger was served hot with the toppings I ordered and that melted cheese. The fries were also piping hot like I enjoy them and more like steak fries. I will need another excuse to head back this way for another burger.

(4.25) O'Brien's is the kind of classic deli every city…read moreshould have. It's a small space - a few tables inside and a few tables out - but don't let that or the line you are likely to encounter deter you. They crank out sandwiches quickly here. Said sandwiches include about two dozen hot and cold offerings as well as the ability to build your own. The meats are Boar's Head, but the desserts and soups are made fresh in-house. Check out the display case for salads and sides that might catch your eye. O'Brien's prides itself on its Reuben, and so I went with the "mini" version (a quarter rather than a half pound of meat) with a pickle for my first visit here. Ordering at the register was a breeze, and I was fortunate enough to snag one of the tables for dine-in. Though I was a bit skeptical that the Reuben would match the hype, it delivered. I don't know that it is without a doubt the best version I've had, but it is definitely up there. The grilled rye was nice and crisp, and I appreciated that they used both mustard and Russian dressing. That, plus the meat, kraut, and melty cheese, made for a very satisfying bite. At $10, the sandwich proved a good value, too. Unpretentious and nostalgically comforting (for Northern transplants, at least), O'Brien's is a well-oiled sandwich-slinging machine. Though that Reuben will be hard to top, I look forward to giving one of their other offerings (maybe a Cuban, maybe a Spicy Italian) a try.
