One of the best things about Slim's is that you can get genuinely good food at an affordable price--which makes a huge difference when you're taking a whole carload of kids out to eat! The atmosphere is another favorite of mine. It has that laid-back Southern charm and hospitality that feels like home, especially for someone born and raised in North Carolina. There's country music playing, plenty of character throughout the restaurant, and they even have a table made from a truck. It doesn't get much more Southern than that! My go-to order is a burger with pimento cheese and fries, and I highly recommend doctoring up the fries with their Cajun seasoning, homemade ranch, and a little vinegar. SO good! Great food, great prices, and a fun, welcoming atmosphere. Slim's is an easy favorite for our family!

Ordered a hamburger steak, cooked medium, emphasized hot pink in the center, with corn on the cob and french fries. Food comes out, the hamburger steak was very well done. Instead of taking my plate away, she scooped the hamburger steak onto a saucer because she had to prove to the cook that it's burnt. I wait 10 to 15 minutes for the replacement, and that's all that comes out. Corn is cold, fries are cold. I mention that to her, no response. The corn was sitting in a small dish of butter. No way to eat it, except picking it up with my bare hands, butter running down my hands. Plenty of seating available, they stuck us in a cubby that felt like we were in sardine can. Had to take my wife's bag back out to the vehicle because there was nowhere to put it. So much for the ambience. Been there, done that, never again. I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1 because my wife did enjoy the lobster and crab bisque.

The menu reflects the extra charges for dressing or sauces if you want it. The inside is the same as it was, nothing fancy inside. The waitresses all seemed helpful. We tried the chicken wings they were good. The baked spaghetti is almost $10 and you get a small plate and piece of garlic bread and a salad. I tried the ham & cheese sandwich. It was ok, .over all the food was better than we remembered from the last time we went. Ice tea was $3.00 a cup and they serve it in a Styrofoam cup. I think we might go back again and try something else or get some more wings. The blue cheese was good. Glad they are waiting on tables again.

The special comes with 2 pieces of boneless fried chicken breasts, 2 sides, and your choice of a roll or cornbread. I paired it with fried squash (with ranch), broccoli casserole, and a roll. The service is always great. They check on you and keep your beverage filled (for me that is a Jumbo unsweet tea). Sadly they are only open weekdays. But go check them out, they have different daily specials each day of the week.
