Instead of dense, juicy apple morsels and a sugary cinnamon-rich crunch, the center was oddly doughy and a bit insipid. I tried a loaf of "sourdough" bread which lacked the crumb, crust and flavor I expected. It ate rather like a brioche; I suspect it was simply mislabeled, so there's no point in being harsh about it. Everything changed when I laid eyes on the crumb-topped peach pie, a creation of singular beauty. Love at first sight, it turns out, is real, and everything the appearance promised was delivered in the first bite. It was transcendent. My family devoured this gift from heaven at room temperature, heated à la mode, and in clandestine fingerfuls stolen greedily from the box. This pie will be part of every summer from now on.

The staff keeps everything moving while still being so welcoming. And the old bank safe is SUCH a fun touch! Every time we visit, the staff is incredibly kind, polite, and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. One of my favorite things about Pie Safe is the history behind the location. The building was originally a bank over 100 years ago, and the original safe is still right in the center of the space on display! I love how they incorporated that piece of history into the name "Pie Safe"--it gives the place so much character. Amazing desserts, wonderful people, and such a neat atmosphere. Definitely one of our favorite places to visit in our hometown!

Definitely agree that when you walk in there is no bakery smell at all…read more I got an orange cupcake (a little pricey for the size) and it was stale. Was not made that day and if it was it was not good. The frosting was a bit much on top too. I had been here one other time and I thought I'd give it another chance. We bought 6 cupcakes that time and it was the same way. Thought it may have just been a off day or I had got a day old ones. Needless to say it's a shame it didn't live up to all the past reviews. I won't be going back for a 3rd time that's for sure. ( The person working I assumed was the owner when asked if she sold day old said no, so I guess this is just the way her cupcakes taste) Not a bakery I'd recommend. Bagel me this... why did we wait till our last day in town to stop here?…read more This little spot was right around the corner from where we were staying, and it quickly became one of those "why didn't we find this sooner?" places. Small and definitely more grab-and-go than linger-and-lounge, but packed with fresh bagels, friendly faces, and prices that make you do a double take in the best way. The wall of bagels behind the counter was a beautiful sight, with everything from classic plain and sesame to everything and cinnamon raisin. The bagels tasted fresh, service was fast, and everyone was genuinely welcoming. No fuss, no frills, just delicious bagels done right at a great price. Affordable, fresh, and dangerously convenient to where we were staying. We'd happily make this a regular stop if we lived closer!
